Besides, they would not get paid for about two weeks after they get hired at their new jobs IF they even find new jobs... And besides, many of George's Employees are MIDDLE AGED, which doesn't really bode well when looking for a new job. They'd all be better off staying right there....

That never sat well with me....:/

  • @jaasonmiller

    @jaasonmiller

    Because the show is unrealistic! I mean, obviously, it’s a show. First, employees today would almost NEVER agree to work longer hours and with less pay - NEVER! (Just look at ‘the great resignation’ we’re going through). Even if they trusted their manager like George and held great respects to him, employees have families to take care of, bills to pay, etc etc it wouldn’t happen. 2) George would’ve been the one fired as well along with all the other employees who were gonna get fired. Bringing the employees’ families to the factory is very unprofessional and risky considering there is dangerous machines all over the place. If you did that in real life, you’d get fired immediately. Being in business means you need to know when and how to make tough decisions. Not everything is going to be all sunshine and rainbows and that’s just how it is. What George does is gets attached to his employees too much and that’s the first thing they tell you in business school to avoid doing. Obviously, they don’t teach you or tell you to be a cold-hearted being but keeping a work and personal relationships separate is vital. At the end of the day, the show made George “win.” And not even that. He got the worse end of the deal. It wasn’t even a win.

    @Butters it does sound cold hearted but it is facts. Stuff like this does happen. And alot of people don't bear in mind how much the company is suffering because of their incompetence. And realistically. If u had to make layoff for certain people. If u didn't lay them off. Literally everyone would have lost in the end. Because then you won't be able to pay them or the company. Gets, locked down. That's the problem with being manager at any level, there are always tough decisions. And it's not that u want to do it. It just the best thing to do. Fun fact a lot of people that get fired or get laid off end up bouncing back twice as hard so getting fired actually turned out to be a good thing for them. I'm just saying good job on being realistic and telling it like it is. And I know your must be pretty tough at times if not constantly.

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@servor3313 Laid off and fired are two separate entities. Laid off means your job was cut because of business setbacks. Fired is if you were violating policies, worker incompetence and so forth. Again I stated it would depend on how much of a cut I'm being hit with and how much more I'm working. So let's do some number crunching (since that's my job): You earn $600 a week gross for a 40 hr work week ($15 per hour). After the cut you are now making $13.50 but now are working 50 hours. That's $520 straight time and $195 OT. Here it would make more sense to stay on board, but given their situation it's hard to say what their game plan is. On a side note I think this show was great! George Lopez's political beliefs are a bit off, but he's a great comedian.

  • @sailorsister211

    @sailorsister211

    It depends on the worker's situation, many people can't afford to take one day off. With getting a new job means starting over, many factory jobs starting pay is minimum wage, you may not get a lot of hours due to training. Also if the job is going to work out, I remember when I worked at Little Caesars, some of my co-workers came back just bc the job they quit for, didn't work, despite getting paid more than Little Caesars, they weren't getting paid as much due to hours. My second job didn't work out for me, I almost went back to Little Caesars but I was lucky to find another job. While for the workers, even if they have to take pay cut and do longer hours, but they knew they are still able to pay the bills, have food on the table, insurance, and have an understanding manager, that tries his best for his employees, bc many managers don't really care your situation.
