    1. Choose technique that suits you on hand and feet. 2. Sit on your drumset and start practising the techniques in slow motion. 3. Play with metronome. 4. Be patient. Dont try to play just as fast as possible, try to execute the technique perfectly. 5. Practise a lot every day. Btw. it takes years to become really good so dont give up! And if your left foot or hand is weaker than your right - practise more with your left side... And most important: Have fun playing!

    You can teach someone all you want. It's up to that individual how they play. Everyone is different and they will play how they feel comfortable. Fast double bass can be achieved by all methods. Even the one's you never thought of. It's all subjective. You do you and be the best you. Don't listen to someone say it's right or wrong. Your body will tell you what's right or wrong. He might have issues with knees you may not. Everyone is different. Don't conform. That's how metal was started. That's how unique players exist. By not listening and saying "I can do better"

    I think if you play long enough and keep trying to play faster you will naturally adjust your foot technique to something similar to this. I eventually found myself lowering my heels to the floor more and more. It almost like playing heel down, but my heel is not locked down.

    COuld it be that some people have weak ankles or something and can't get to high speeds? I just try and try and can't go past 180 and even get quite tired there if I stay too long at it.

  • @MartinSynan
    @MartinSynan12 жыл бұрын

    @TrSYeTi If you listen to his actual drumming it is impressive. There is a very musical aspect to songs such as What may be safely written. He also does some jazz drumming, which is not really highlighted enough, and if you know jazz then you know the timings are complicated, it isn't about being fast but it displays how good his technique is. Kollias could out-drum any popular drummer in the world, in a heartbeat.

    Kollias says in the video right above that this ankle movement can fuck up your knee because of the unnatural movement it creates to the bone/muscle structure, so i bet you may feel less tired during playing but you might also feel pain after playing.

    what he's not saying is that you have to treat your foot strokes to be rdy to bring the beater back with the recoil to add power to the next stroke, the whole point is to get your toe out of the recoils "way" so no speed is lost. and do this quick enough to sling it forward with the following stroke. Thats why he uses tight springs

    @OGTheDemon You're right in the sense that it's his 'thing'. It's the style he's best at, for sure. What I'm trying to point out though, is that he's not only adept in his own style of drumming, but also in many other styles as well. It's not like it's an unexpected thing, he's been playing drums for what... 20 something years now? He's not going to be good in only 1 style of drumming.
