This TV show was the reason why I fell in love with the game of golf. When they did a slow motion clip of one of the pro’s swing and broke it down I learned so much. I was a teenager at the time during the ‘60s which is when I began watching this show. Lots of fun memories.

You should read up on Elder. He lead an amazing life. Someone should make a movie about him.

Thanks so much for sharing this marvellous video. As a teenager getting into golf these presentations were key to my interest in the game. I grew up in Fort Worth, TX and saw Knudson, Archer and Elder many times at Colonial in the late 1960's and early 70's. I enjoyed seeing all of them play in person. I probably followed Archer and Elder more often but I now see that Knudson was one cool guy and now I see why everyone is raving about the swing he had. Great stuff!

@@thegolflibrary7322 Yes, I saw him briefly at Colonial one day. John Mahaffey spoke about the occasion recently in a podcast. Hogan's company in Fort Worth sponsored Mahaffey in those days. They were playing together that day and it was all very serious business!

Thanks for this! Increased power and precision can only follow instinctive balance, rhythm, and spine safety. Thanks for showing us how, Mr. Knudson. Imagine how many flagsticks he would hit with today's equipment.

I met George Archer at a small driving range in San Martin, CA in the early 90's. We were on the putting green and he noticed that we both marked our golf balls the same way and same color. Nice friendly man. Wish I would have gotten his autograph but I didn't want to bother him. I'm sure he wouldn't have minded though. RIP George.

George suffered from a severe learning impairment that rendered him virtually illiterate. The only thing he could write was his name, so you would have been in luck. He was a great man who valued the fellowship of friends over victories in tournaments.

I love watching the guys chip and run the ball around the greens with 7 and 8 irons. That is how I learned to play and is something you just don’t see much of anymore. Likely due to the faster speeds of the greens today.

If you're referring to what jimmi called the top part of the green, its from Donald Ross design courses . He said it on the 12th hole and absolutely has nothing to do with race. When Ross built greens he would have mounds around a green ,they would cover the mounds with dirt and sow grass.

Yes, George always played an Anser style putter, probably the Ping Anser. Only difference was, he painted the head white. Would probably not be allowed today, as it's against the rules to put a foreign substance on the clubface. I guess he got away with it back in the day.

Funny thing about that "chemical" that they used for the ants; it was probably just Diatomaceous earth, which is fossilized aquatic Diatoms made of silica. No chemicals at all, just sticks to the ants and dries them out. It's still the best bug killer, ever.
