It's different when persons analysis the truth and looking at the picture broadly. You can't just terrorize the region to sell more arms and just pretend you have nothing to do with it and expect others to clean your mess.

Armed Drones, small arms (Canik pistols are famous in US), armored vehicles, drone ammunitions(mini rockets, etc.) also textile, heavy machinery and automotive assembly and delivery hub, huge tourism income, and produce exports are biggies. It’s highly industrialized overall but still relies on direct foreign investment as well. It is also a transportation hub both air and land. Also, there are multiple natural gas and oil pipelines that go through it. They discovered some oil and natural gas deposits off the coast of Black sea and searching for more in East Med. Defense industry is booming and rising star economically. There are now over 2000 defense companies producing all kinds of high tech weapon systems and began exporting internationally as well as selling to Turkish Armed Forces. Allegedly, 70% of military now used native and locally made weapon systems which is huge for a mid size power. There is supposed to be a large gold deposit in the hand of the government as well as citizens. Different than many other nations, there is also a lot of money coming in from off the books deals and money laundering at a huge scale. There is a lot money coming under the table from Russia, Gulf and gold for cheap oil deal with Iran.

We are long time neighbours sharing the same destiny and geographical benefits. So you better be with us instead of conducting proxy war against Turkey. History will repeat but in different version not exactly like in Ottomans time. As we modern Turks r not gonna do the same mistakes of the past.

@@hasankilic9825 what makes you feel so optimistic. What I do see is a Beligerant Turkey holding strong and well. For the last 20years we have stopped expanding our arsenal completely. Having turned our heads towards improving our economy and making it more competitive within Euro, not so easy task to succeed on. Apparently from your side it has been wrongly perceived as a weakness trying to capitalise on that. Well there we go again antagonising who will militarily get the upper hand. This time though not our fault. If you don't get a better democracy, cultural freedom, give up your Ottoman aspirations, implement a kind of birth control to your people there is no way to see any improvement to our relationship iam afraid.

I have seen his comments in other videos relating to Turkey. He is just upset that Turkey has become more powerful than Greece. Turkey can take Cyprus and Greece in two weeks. Turkey already has a foothold in northern Cyprus so it will take them 1 hour to take all of Cyprus. The population of Greece is 11 Million whilst the Population of Turkey is 80 Million. Turkey can afford to lose 10 Million people in war. You can't say the same thing about Greece. Turkey's economy is diverse and stable and its annual growth rate is very impressive. You can only say that about the UK, France and Germany in regards to Europe. The rest of the European countries rely on the EU. Greece has been getting bailed out by the EU several times. The moment the EU dissolves and breaks apart (process has already started with Brexit), Turkey will be in a better position than every European country. Turkey will be in a position to strangle Europe. They will be able to control the flow of products/goods that is on its way to Europe by watching the Suez canal.

I am opposed to ambassador Matthew's point "Turkish Tanks deployed in Kobane and Kurdish militia has slaughtered" Mathew's so called Kurdish Militia(reality is they are terrorists) sneaked into Turkey and incited revolts in Turkish cities. Therefore YPG is our enemy not friend. We shall only point our tank cannons to kill YPG not to protect them. We know that we are not as strong as US so we must be as cunning as a fox. I used to oppose Erdoğan but now after all the revolts in southeast of Turkey and after failed coup I understand the importance of Erdoğan and be a fan of him. Our folk has patience and has the ability to understand how and why this terror happens. We're not fool to help our enemy. We need time and opportunity to vanquish them.

George has some good points but really Turkish Rule over Arab Middle East is no longer plausible, In fact, the primary reason the Ottomans collapsed was because Arabs revolted against it. From Arabs' perspective they, as the nation of prophet(pbuh), deserve to lead the Islamic world more than anyone else. United Arab Caliphate is more realistic outcome than a new Ottoman empire

Sad indeed. This guy king Abduallah of Jordan is a western puppet and your country is a buffer zone for Israel. At this point, as non Arab I am not impressed with Arabs credentials. You were sold out to the Brits and look how bad things are for Arab. With only 20% of Muslim population, Arab want authoriry. How arrogant and un Islamic. The problem with the notion that Turkey will eventually rise to fufill its historical role in the region is that during the Ottoman times the Turks had no opposition from the east. They were an eastern force pushing into the boundaries of the western world ostensibly under a strong religious banner. Today's Turkey is basically a geographical area hemmed in on all sides by opposition. Iran to the east (which by the way might have a deeper and more historical claim in the Turkish sphere of influence), Russia to the north, Israel, Egypt and other notables with competing interests in the region. So to simply expect Turkey to rise up in significance in the region is a bit like expecting Byzantium to re-establish itself after the fall of Constantinople during the 4th Crusade. Those things are a bit more complex than as the revenge of geography pronouncements would have it. N'est ce pas? Not to mention that the crumbling EU has basically halted any Turkish aspirations to be a player of importance in european affairs (that's a whole other mess in the making and Turkey should be happy that is not knee deep in it as some wished it to be). So Turkey is happy at the moment in its isolation but it's hard to see by which means Turkey would break out of said confinement which provides a low risk but satisfactory existence on the geopolitical margins.
