That is infuriating: first he allegedly tries killing himself at work in the prison; then, he gets mad because they fired him because he tried to kill himself at work; (could have tried again but apparently didn't)' then he kills 13 people including his own children including an infant'; then he sits on death row for 40 years enjoying 3 squares, free rent, utilities, food, cloths, television, telephone privileges...... If he had shot himself in the face as he did his babies, then maybe he would have been successful/... kinda doubt he made a strong attempt on himself. George's death sentence was commuted to life imprisonment as I believe PA abolished the death penalty

I've lived in Wilkes-Barre and still for more than a decade. I've heard the story about "Mr. Banks" many times by many people. It still brings chills down my spine every time. Now to clarify, the house where the shooting started was burned down by an arsonist shortly after Mr. Banks was imprisoned. Where the house used to be is now an empty lot but there should be a wooden cross built where the front steps used to be. The blue house across the street was where the two young men were shot. September 25th will be the 40th anniversary of that tragic event.

One of the kids was my neighbor when we were kids. He was very friendly and polite. I remember my mother telling me he was killed. 😔 Anyway..great video! I live 15 mins from this area! Great to see you here in the Valley! Hugo Selenski would be a great video for you also. Half hour from the area you were just at.

He was a very tortured minded, miserable man, and I’m not at all trying to make anyone feel bad for him or anything like that, my grandparents were neighbors from his moms house and knew him very well.

All this legal wrangling does no one any good -- should have got the chair years ago !!

It's more like he didn't want to have to pay child support is the reason most likely look at all the kids he had to pay for this guy was an irresponsible pretend want to be adult who couldn't keep it in his pants and it became probably overwhelming what he was going to owe and then most likely be threatened with jail time

Bro that's not the house he killed his family in, the vacant lot next to is where one of the sites were. My step grandfather lived in part of the vacant lot in house right next door to him. I happen to spend the previous weekend up there surprisingly he didn't add to the death toll by taking out my " Step Family " as they hated each other

He's still alive on death row. He was found not compitant to be put to death a few years back. The empty lot was the house where it started

This was awful 😞 Just like most of the stories you share w us. But it was most interesting nevertheless. Bonus is that I’ve never heard of this incident before👍🏼 HATE it when the cases involve children !! VERY VERY SADISTIC 👹 The murderous mentally ill run rampant amongst us. Awesome video. Forty years ago they probably would go through discrimination. I went to school with some mixed kids back in the seventies and they were discriminated against, but still it was so bad that he felt they should die.

What a needless sick tragedy.

George was mixed as well and experienced hatred from both races and felt like he didn't fit in either way! Personally I blame the GIN!

Yes it was incredibly bloody and that gun is incredibly powerful for sure. At least one of the children's heads was blown completely off.
