I remember being particularly impressed with the grace with which the Amish community treated the widow of the man that killed these girls. Such an example of living your values.

I went to seminary with the pastor of the Roberts family. He was there with the killer's wife and family when the Amish men, representing their community came in with a donation to help Mrs. Roberts in her own recovery. It was a touching example of them wanting to express God's grace and forgiveness.

I lived around Amish growing up in Ohio and they dont bother anyone. So horrible of him. May he rot in hell.

If that man had delusions & mental problems he couldn't control or understand hes in Heaven with the children he killed. There were like 7 amish families burying someone when I was there. They were super sweet and helped me find the graves. 👍

My dad heard of this and when he was alive he used to do stained glass as a hobby . He made an stained glass figure with a candle for each of the children in the school. I don't know how he knew where to take the figures, but he and my stepmom went to an amish house to deliver all the figures. The amish lady was very nice they said and invited them in and I guess she fed them too. It touched my heart to hear of this tragedy and glad dad could give some kind of comfort to the kids via his stain glass talents.

I lived around an Amish community growing up in Illinois. They was our closest neighbors. They are peaceful people and I often think of the friends I had made in that community. I remember when this happened. My God always be with these Angels 🙏🙏🙏

So much tragedy, sorrow and pain for the parents. As for the killer he had to be mental and no one saw the signs so sad. My son use to go out there in the Amish country to buy bake good's there in PA. RIP INNOCENT ANGEL'S.

Everyone who commits heinous crimes is not mentally ill and may be an overused term to make some sense of it. There is such a thing as meanness, jealousy, rage, and evil. He did rape one or more of these young girls.

Charles wife said her husband had been haunted by the death of their first baby, who died shortly after her birth. I guess he had become a very angry man. But why kill someone else’s babies? 🤬😢

I am from PA and this was a horrible crime by a monster. 16 yrs later it still shakes me up hearing about it. The guy seemed "normal", a milk man of some kind with a family but evil was lurking inside. May these poor victims rest in peace.

I remember watching this on the news in college and just being shocked by the whole ordeal. Such a sad tragedy for the whole Amish and English community. If you're still in the area Harmin, another case in June 2020 involved a missing Amish girl named Linda Stoltzfoos walking home from her church. Another sad and tragic event for the community.

It was covered by the new's, and special reports when it happened. It's odd that you can't find but just bits, and pieces of news about it on KZread. I remember at the time, it was reported, that he had made a restraining device for the purpose of rape.

They made a movie about this massacre called Amish Grace and it's a good movie.

Thanks so much for this upload, media reports at the time suggested that the killer was despondent over the recent death of his child, as mentioned below, a movie was made about this tragedy, many of the Amish actually attended the graveside service for the killer.

also Harmin, were you at all nervous about filming any of the Amish you encountered? We know that they are supposedly not comfortable being photographed, filmed, did any make attempts to hide, avoid you?

Love your videos and have liked and subscribed. Just a tiny suggestion when you read that part about that pen that dude ask those people about, maybe next time before you start to record the video, just do a little bit of research and figure out what that pen was or whatever the tiny detail may be next time, and be better prepared to explain the story. Again, I love your channel and have subscribed. I'll be following your success as it grows.

I remember this tragedy, I live a half hr away from where this took place at.. Two mportant details you left out, one was he had all the girls lined up on their knees with their hands on their heads facing the chalkboard/ wall and shot them execution style in the back of the heads, second thing was that the Amish community decided to tear down the schoolhouse because they didnt want it to be a tourist attraction and so the reminder wouldn't be there and they can move forward with their lives . Also the Amish did forgive him for what he did and from what I heard his wife had no idea about how he was and what even happened until she found out from the state trooper.

@@ShannonLH1108 Nickel Mines is a very small tight-knit Amish community in Lancaster County. I don't think to this day they really have the answer as to why it happened, they have speculations but that's about it.

This hurts my heart so much. How can ANYONE hurt a helpless child?

Some of us have more self control over our demons. Harboring such thoughts are one thing but choosing to act them out? He seemed to have accepted the fact he wouldnt be captured alive After he decided to kill them, he had nothing else to lose. I was surprised he went through with it. He had a good amount of time to consider other options. He accomplished absolutely nothing but hatred, loss & heartache, towards life.Something motivated him to do this horrible crime.

I live in a large Amish community in Indiana, I am an Amish driver and cannot imagine this ever happening. They are SUCH nice people, who absolutely mind their own business and live quiet lives. Such evil coming in from the English world

I remember being 12 and was supposed to go to Atlantic or ocean city and on way with parents they stopped Lancaster I guess we were and woke up to empty car parents gone windows down and some little girl aged 8 to 10 in an old-fashion outfit trying to sell me apfels or something 🤣.
