I would love to hear Douglas's take on smart phones and social media. I am pretty sure it would more enlightening than the crap that is being touted by the "experts " today.

My senior year in high school we were assigned to write a term paper on the cause and effect of a Supreme Court case decision. I chose the FCC V. Pacifica Foundation, aka the seven dirty words case. It all started when a New York radio station owned by Pacifica broadcast a recording of George Carlin’s Filthy Words monologue. This was a landmark case that dealt with the dicey subject of government censorship and first amendment rights. The ruling in this case is why a specific list of “dirty words” are not broadcast on television or radio today. I enjoyed writing that paper. I got an A on it while simultaneously violating the school’s policy on the use of obscene language. Turns out my English teacher was a George Carlin fan.

I started hearing/seeing Carlin in the 60s (yes, I'm that old). Unlike most people, who start out young and fiery and then mellow with age, he started out mellow (hippy dippy weatherman, etc.) and got angrier and edgier the older he got. Sometimes he was prescient - all the things he said about women's rights, abortion, the media and political religion were dead on. Unfortunately, for almost a decade now, we've been living a George Carlin routine.

By definition, half the world's population is BELOW average intelligence. George's words, "imagine how stupid the average person is...then go below that!...And they get to vote!". He appealed to about the top 20%. Free, critical thinkers. This should be played on a loop TODAY!

George Carlin, like many of us, got old and tired. He knew he, and his generation, wouldn’t be around to fix things and he saw so many people just not caring. I don’t think he’d join the fight if he was still here. His job, in his mind, was always to inform. We have a few comics that do this now but it’s always up to the masses, and especially the youth that are taking over running things to create the country, and the world that they want. If trump gets back in office that’s the fault of the masses. Vote smart, especially you young people negate the older generations will be dead and it’ll be your mess to clean up or to live with if he’s allowed to get power ever again.

zappa didn't have enough charisma to be a successful politician. george, with his great political accumen and personal charm, would have been a very successful politician...if it weren't for his conscience and sense of self-respect.

@@lauracarter1618 With Zappa it was what he was saying, not the way he said it. Like Carlin, Zappa was a brilliant man who saw right through the political BS. He was very intuitive and his vast knowledge could be intimidating. For example, Frank knew what was coming almost 40 years ago. Watch this clip where Charlie Rose and John Lofton try to laugh at Zappa and interrupt him because they're intimidated by his intellect. kzread.info/dash/bejne/dG1sl5iYqNmel8Y.html

@@lauracarter1618 - It was about what Frank was saying , not how he said it. Frank new what was coming almost 40 years ago. Watch his short clip from 1986 where Frank demonstrates his amazing foresight while Conservatives Charlie Rose and John Lofton try (and fail) to smugly ridicule his statement while interrupting him. That was their only defense because, like today's Conservatives, they were too fogged in by their own political religious beliefs to understand the truth around them. kzread.info/dash/bejne/c6CZsq6FnMmuZLQ.html

Mr. Carlin passed away in 2008, long before Mr. Trump took office; so he was actually talking about Politician Period. What he's talking about is the Exact Reason Mr. Trump, and before him, Mr. Obama, were elected to the office of POTUS. He was just saying the the politicians and law-makers work not for the American People, but for the ultra-rich and the corporations.
