George Building Collapse | 'The developers have not even sent a single word of condolence'
The death toll in the George building collapse now stands at 32, with 20 people still unaccounted for. The Deputy Minister of International Relations, Alvin Botes, has appealed for financial assistance from the public to help repatriate the bodies of foreign nationals killed in the George building collapse.
Representatives from the High Commissions of Zimbabwe and Malawi are also in George to meet with family members of the victims and oversee the repatriation process. According to Botes, repatriation is not covered by consular support services covered by DIRCO. Eighty-one people were on site when the building collapsed last Monday.

Well isn't that just appalling? I hope they get sued for this tragedy. No sympathy for so many people just working hard and doing their jobs. No acknowledgement from the Developers? Shame on you.
The developers must be accountable and brought to book , for this is appalling. So sad no response of condolences ,what about compensating these families, during this trauma.
This is so unacceptable. I haven't seen a single South African that was involved in that George collapse

There are living on other parts of the country who wish to contribute financially but it must go to a reputable organisation who will ensure that the money gets to the people who need it ...and for those interested I am an Afrikaans African
My point is this. Government of Zimbabwe must come in assist their nationals. When Zambians perished in a bus accident, the Zambian Government dispached an air force plane to collect the departed ones. The same as the recent bus accident from Botswana, the Botswana government dispached their air force plane to collect. South African government can only do that much.
Very very painful.. people just needed jobs to survive unfortunately nobody saw this calamity coming ....

Legal process Find a company that have visa Sponsorship certificate and apply to work at that company and the company will provide you with the visa sponsorship certificate. We have all the skills for construction, so we dont have companies need to do visa sponsorships
Developers pay the contractor to erect a structure. Contractor and subcontractors, engineer, building inspector, and site foreman must explain and not the owners as haven't yet taken possession of the complete building.

They could still send their condolences and offer some kind of real support. I went down and donated some items the day after it happened. It has nothing to do with me, but I have a human heart. It's really not that hard.
Is casual labour covered by Workman's Compensation Fund? Would hope that it is. Surely this fund could assist with the cost of repatriation. All parties involved in the development and construction of the project should also be liable for costs.
