Lyrics:
Whenever dark has fallen
You know the spirit of the party starts to come alive
Until the day is dawning
You can throw out all the blues and hit the city lights
'Cause there's music in the air
And lots of lovin' everywhere
So gimme the night (Give me, give me)
(Alright, tonight)
Gimme the night (Give me, give me)
(Every night)
You need the evening action (Ba-dubadub-dubadub-dubadub)
A place to dine, a glass of wine, a little late romance
It's a chain reaction (Ba-dubadub-dubadub-dubadub)
You'll see the people of the world coming out to dance
'Cause there's music in the air
And lots of lovin' everywhere
So gimme the night (Give me, give me)
(Every night)
Gimme the night (Give me, give me)
(Alright, tonight)
So come on out tonight and we'll lead the others
On a ride through paradise
And if you feel all right
Then we can be lovers 'cause I see that starlight
Look in your eyes
Don't you know we can fly
Just gimme the night (Give me, give me)
(Alright, tonight)
Gimme the night (Give me, give me)
(Every night)
'Cause there's music in the air
And lots of lovin' everywhere
So gimme the night (Give me, give me)
(Every night)
Gimme the night (Give me, give me)
(Alright, tonight)
So come on out tonight and we'll lead the others
On a ride through paradise
And if you feel all right
Then we can be lovers 'cause I see that starlight
Look in your eyes
Don't you know we can fly
And if we stay together (Ba-dubadub-dubadub-dubadub)
We'll feel the rhythm of the evening taking us up high
Never mind the weather (Ba-dubadub-dubadub-dubadub)
We'll be dancing in the street until the morning light
'Cause there's music in the air
And lots of lovin' everywhere
So gimme the night (Give me, give me)
(Alright, tonight)
Gimme the night (Give me, give me)
(Alright, tonight)
Gimme the night (Give me, give me)
(Alright, tonight)
Gimme the night (Give me, give me)
(Alright, tonight)
Gimme the night (Give me, give me)
(Alright, tonight)
Gimme the night (Give me, give me)
(Alright, tonight)
Gimme the night (Give me, give me)
(Alright, tonight)
So, gimme the night (Give me, give me)
(Alright, tonight)

Oh gosh, just realising how lucky I was! 30+ yrs ago, I was in London for a year, and managed to get tickets to a George Benson concert! I'd been a fan of his since I was 12!!! Saw him in concert in my late 20's then! Also Barry White! Was privileged enough to see that great man in concert too! That might have been in Vienna though.... Then the great Michael Jackson, saw him on stage in Vienna too!! With all of them, I'd been an avid fan since I was 12, when my older University student brother babysat me in the afternoons while we were both supposed to be studying! 😂He couldn't study when it was silent, so he played all this wonderful music all the time! I grew up on his taste in music, also Fleetwood Mac, etc, so, thanks big brother! Only Michael Jackson was my own choice. He didn't care much for MJ's voice & style. LOOOOOOOVE/D Georgie B! 💓💓💓💓 Still boogie to him to this day! And I'm over 60 now! 😅💃💃💃💃

I had a great day with my family today and my 19 year old son was playing his "old school" play list and this song was on it. I'm so proud of him for having this song on the list. I'm so impressed that he picked this song as it is by far one of the greatest songs sung by one of the greatest artist of all time! Proud of you boy!

Greatest R&B track ever, hands down! George Benson deserves his enduring success
This song still hits hard in 2022. A certified banger. Love it. ❤️ I'm bumping it loud. The bass is just outstanding. on this song. The bass is knocking it out the ball park. This song is still an all time hit. Even in 2022.

@Jimmy Barnes Been a fan since the late 70's. I had a sister 14 years older than me and she introduced me to all sorts of good music. We would take long car rides in her Mazda 626 and crank this song. I grew up on Cape Cod and now live in Maine.
You own the night George!!!
We all gotta thank Mr. Benson for this timeless masterpiece 🙏

Another thing.. Rod was a cold ass white boy. I watched Heatwave’s unsung.. and they said all thee other members would be out celebrating their success and living the life. All Rod wanted to do was stay in the studio and compose. From that point. I knew he was a problem. They didn’t discuss all the hits he was responsible for until the end.
I'm 61 years old and still love this song by George Benson and I definitely love this video as well. This song will never get old. WBLS use to play this as well.

The guy at the console mixing at the back. George Benson singing note by note his guitar solo, listen to the rhythm guitar, the backing vocals, look at the lady, hear the bass line, the rhythm section. All live, everything perfect. Wonder if it took more than one take but, whatever. This song's so cool sometimes I think it a lullaby.
