Georg Friedrich Haas - Tria ex Uno, sextett nach Josquin Desprez (2001)
0:00 I [prolation canon (canon in 3 tempos simultaneously) by Josquin Desprez, orchestrated softly]
1:49 II [warmer orchestration of the canon, as voices are passed between more instruments]
3:42 III [instruments fade in and out in waves]
4:13 [voices begin to meander microtonally, between crushing descending runs on the piano]
5:11 [strident string glisses in tight microtonal clusters, under resonant piano and percussion]
6:02 [overtones of d and f, at first pulsing softly, and gradually more aggressive]
7:28 [warm harmonies and orchestration return, before being pierced by piquant piano chords]
9:20 [soundscapes based on the harmonic series, pressed by eerie triplet ostinatos]

Yup definitely. Haas' music has a very expansive sound. He's a professor nearby, so I've been to quite a few of his concerts. Hyena is really magnificent

@@Cmaj7 yep I’m a little biased, he was my dissertation advisor over at Columbia 🤣 - Hyena up there too. My favorite is his 2022 “weiter und weiter…” - it’s posted up on KZread somewhere. Absolutely incredible
Josquin Desprez becomes uncanny
Georg sent me once an analysis of this piece. A lot of thought work in it.
Interesting piece like always, great 'microphonie' - like sound with the combination of tam tam and piano. Thanks for sharing!
Played this in my university time... Great memories with great colleagues... Great music
Excellent stuff. As other comments have said, this must be even more amazing in person.
Fantastic music!
Haas is really cool

There’s so much bad engraving out there in contemporary music and really I don’t understand why… could they just not be bothered to pay typesetters?
Where to get that pdf!
Hmm... I need BTS and BLACKPINK
