I liked how Geoff (#4) singing "Whiiiiiite" could easily be co-interpreted as "Whyyyyyy didn't I get a present?"

The humor in this video is so much fun, the vocals, obviously wonderful, the concept, just everything. But my favorite thing is that he is smiling (at least one of him) almost all the time. He has a beautiful smile! Thanx, Jen, I always enjoy your reactions!

The notice to the wall behind him that it is the same wall as in his Shenandoah video. Also the floor lamp without the shade is the same as the one and Shenandoah but on the opposite side of the room. Please do a reaction video of Lauren Paley's cover of Ave Maria. The full version. She is the Stairwell Siren from tick tock. She played in Voice Plays cover of Hide & Seek ( Ding Dong. ) Lauren's cover of Ave Maria is the most beautiful cover I've ever heard her voice is phenomenal.

I think the “story” Geoff created here is my favorite of his so far. I think of these guys as G1, G2, G3 & G4. 😉 G2 makes me laugh looking around at all the decorations just appearing out of the blue. Fun reaction, as we expect when you react to Geoff. 😂

Watching after Christmas thoroughly enjoying opening yet another present!

That bridge is actually the old intro for the song. And it's easier to delineate which Geoff you mean by using their names as established in Way Down and Ghost Riders in the Sky. From left to right you have Goff (mid-range harmonies), Jeff (high-range harmonies), Geoff (lead vocal), and Jeoph (low-range harmonies - though any of them can sing outside their usual ranges if needed, of course :)

You might believe, dear lady, that I watch your videos because of your technical expertise or your winning personality or even your contagious enthusiasm (all true, BTW). But no, I watch them because I love seeing you when you smile. Your smile is utterly transformative in a way that is rare, lovely, and transfixing. Oh, and you sing good, too, girl. Thank you, thank you and pray continue until I depart this sphere of tribulation.

Santa was clearly not far away when Geoff was doing this video with all the stuff popping up - and everything thing is of course happening so that it fits together with the lyrics.

Furthering the "story" aspect....if you watch when stuff in the background appears, it's tied to the lyrics. The tree appears when he mentions the tree. The grammophone appears when he mentions Children "listening," etc.

Love the ending where Middle Geoff raises up a bit then drops way down while back up Geoff's harmonize upwardly!

Simply put Geoff is doing a cover of the Drifters rendition rendition of this classic song.

I had to watch this through a few times, I was too distracted trying to remember where I'd heard this arrangement before... and then the, on the fly, self dressing set and costume changes. He's getting so much better at playing with our heads, and Jen, you were so much quicker on recognizing the source of the arrangement than I was, PROPS to you.

Another great review. You are just about the only one reacting to highs and lows. Geoff is just perfection

You were right, all the lowest notes are G1s (in chest), the first two just have more compression and the last one is more breathy. I would love to see your reaction to one of VoicePlay’s oldest Christmas covers, “Noel”. It’s very….non-traditional. 😄

Hi, Jen love your reactions. I looked but couldn't find if you had ever reacted to any David Phelps videos or songs? If not, I highly recommend him. I know you love Austin from homefree , I do too. David is on another level. Austin is close but David is the goat. I recommend O Holy Night live. It was recorded 20 something years ago and is just phenomenal. He also recently cover Whitney Houston's I have nothing at the beginning of the year. He is now 52 yrs old and slayed it! 52 ! Either one of those to start you down the David Phelps rabbit hole is a good place to start

if you look at goeff's page on this , there is a breakdown of the notes

Like most younger listeners you think Hone Alone, which makes oldies like me smile as we remember Bing Crosby singing it in the film White Christmas, and before that in Holiday Inn, but that one was two years before I was born. :) The bridge, not usually covered, is from the original version. Trust Geoff to go the whole hog with it. And that Come On, is becoming a feature recently. Another reactor is calling him G1 Geoff now, due his ease of singing that note.

Lang's Constant Craving. You should analyse her cover of Leonard Cohen's (another Canadian) Hallelujah at the live at the Winter Olympics in Canada 2010. LOVED your voice on Change the World - what a belter and what an arrangement. Excellent stuff.

Geoff is granted, super talented, and loves doing layers. But I'm spoiled with Bing Crosby's rendition! Sometimes simplicity is better. But that's not Geoff's style. Your analysis is spot on, as usual. ALSO, I loved your two Christmas covers!!! ( I know your request list is long, but I hope you keep David Phelps on it. I will try and be patient.)

I never really noticed this before, but I'm realizing that Geoff barely moves/opens his mouth when he sings.

I rather have Geoff then The Drifter for this version, even The Drifter is a classic but this version much clearer and better than the original.

I like how that middle and final bass line FEELS like a stand-up bass instead of vocals, but you can still clearly make out the clear words.

OK, we get it, very deep male notes are Jen's "thing".

Jen… you still seem to have audio chopping issues on the video playback. I’ve commented on this issue before. Don’t you hear it when you go out and play your posted video?.. I don’t know what the issue is but it is very distracting. When your doing your talking etc those portions of just you talking are fine, but when you then play the video at any point and we’re hearing that, it breaks up a lot. I don’t see that issue on any other channel..just so you know..

I’m with you… his lack of “T” on “white” is disappointing. Do you find that singers with a musical theatre background are better at enunciating because they have to do it more? I tell my casts as a stage manager that a mic only makes you louder. If you mumble, it makes you mumble louder. You still have to have the diction.

Yes, the mic just projects what you’re already doing! And for sure, for me it’s definitely the musical theatre training that means I have diction on my mind always haha!

Thanks for another informative and entertaining reaction, Jen! I'm going to be a little bit unpopular opinion here and say that the arrangement of this one just isn't for me. It's Geoff so we know it's beautifully performed, the harmonies are perfect, and the range is astounding... but I didn't really get much joy from the super bass notes used the way they were. They seemed more like novelty items thrown into the mix than really impactful parts of the music experience. He's still one of the kings of voice and the rendition was still enjoyable but I didn't get that "WOW" that makes me listen to his other stuff over and over. thanks again for what you do over there!
