    Very well done test, with comparable samples and the musician playin the same passage over and over to help us understand the differences. I wish all tests around youtube were done like this. Kudos!

    Thanks, man. Just took her out for the first time this past weekend. Total game-changer. I never thought I'd say it, but my SVT just officially became my "backup" amp. Thanks for the great review. Were it not for this video, I never would have bought this amp and experienced its unadulterated sonic awesomeness.

    After many months of playing I can truly say that this amp is AMAZING!! The only real lack, that can be even called a defect, is the EQ section, especialy in the high frequencies. It's very difficult to bring out the 1,5khz or higher. Even with the Treble control set completely open... I've to use a pedal Eq for bringing out that Frequencies. Beside this...this amp is something FENOMENAL!!! Thanks Ed, this video has helped me to decide to purchrase this amp!!

    I took your advice with the 9 O'clock settings & it worked! It even managed to cope with the mic fitted in the bass. I noticed the gain has a low hum that sounds like a note. It goes away once I clip it to my trousers! I don't understand why that happens though. Thank you!

    Thanks Ed for your interesting and informative videos, and also your written works. I'm too late to the party in trying to get a Streamliner 600, unless I can find a used one for sale. Do you think that the GK MB Fusion 500 would compare well with the GB Streamliner 600?

  • @BassWhispererTV
    @BassWhispererTV12 жыл бұрын

    @jtroska - Sure it sounds good at low volume, just quieter. ;) For loud outdoor shows, I always use a 900 watt amp, either the Streamliner or Shuttle Max 9.2. The 600 watt Shuttle gets pushed a little hard for big loud outdoor gigs.

    Hey, Ed. Great video (as always). Question for you: What type of speaker cables do you use with it (connectors, gauge, etc)? Your review prompted me to pull the trigger on one of these amps to take the place of my SVT for frequent in-town gigs. I'll be hooking up to 2 x SVT210HE cabs. (The cabs have speakon and 1/4" inputs.) I've been using 1/4" to 1/4" forever, but with the new amp, I'm debating "speakon to speakon" or "speakon to 1/4". Suggestions?

  • @BassWhispererTV
    @BassWhispererTV12 жыл бұрын

    @bassplayer2011ify - That is my impression too, though the Streamliner can be punchy. You just have to boost some mids.

    @KIRKMAN91 - I don't know... I don't look at 200 watt amps much. Maybe Ashdown or GK? I'm a Genz Shuttle fan myself, but they are more than $600. TC makes a nice 500 watt combo that costs around $600.

    Hey Ed. Much respect. You bring honor to the low end. Thanks for all the great videos. Question- Which GB cabinet are you using in this vid? Uber 2X12? Any cab recommendations to go with the unit. Looking for something versatile (rock, reggae, R&B, Funk). Thank you my man.

  • @BassWhispererTV
    @BassWhispererTV12 жыл бұрын

    Speakon seems to be the standard these days. The connection is more secure than 1/4", but I don't think they necessarily affect the sound, but the quality of the cable itself makes a difference. I've been using Evidence Audio speaker wires for quite some time, they sound better to me, but they ain't cheap.

    Hey Ed, thanks so much for your videos! Here's a question: im deciding between a shuttle 9.2 and a streamliner 900. I'm playing in a dubby, reggae type rock band, and I need big, powerful low end but with nice sheen and articulation. I'll probably be playing through an avatar 410. Which amp head would you recommend? Thanks again for your awesome videos!

  • @mouthmw
    @mouthmw12 жыл бұрын

    Great stuff as usual Ed! I'm gassing bad for one of these! I'm currently playing a GK 700RB II (480W) through GK NEO 412, and I'm pushing the amp a bit too much and distorting the low notes. I think Streamliner 900 would be a perfect match for a transparent, Hi Fi-ish cab like GK NEO 412 to warm it up a bit. What do you think? Does Streamliner sound better with transparent cabs? Also, I see Streamliner is not on the list of your gear on your site. How come?

    @arcmccun - I don't think I've played that exact bass, but I'm very familiar with Ibanez in general. They make good basses in all price points. The necks are slim and fast, but I tend to prefer a little more meat myself... but that's personal taste. I like the mahogany body Ibanez basses, to my ear, they are the best sounding ones they make. You might also check the Lakland 44-01 and 55-01. Maybe a little more more, but it's more Fender-ish.

    Very, very, very nice video!!! Very usefull and accurate! What I've read on internet about this amp is a huge lack of mid-frequencies, even if the mid control is totally in "boost" position. I'm going to recieve GB Streamliner 900 right this morning for my personal test, I don't hear this lack in this video, anyway... Why they say this things? Is that (in part or not) true?

    Does this system sound good at low volumes? Or would I do better with a smaller 6.0 system? Most of the rooms I play are small and require low volume. But we occasionally play a big loud room or an outdoor show. So I don't want to skimp but I don't want something that can't play quietly, either.

    I have a question. I've been in the market for an EBS HD 350/ EBS TD 650 & I JUST came across this amp from a post that a gentleman was saying that he sold his EBS HD 350, TD 650, & FAFNER because he now owns a streamliner 900. EBS makes awesome gear & I'm trying to see if I want phat/fat, punchy, warmth & clarity would the Streamliner 900 do it for me? IIt has more wattage than the HD 350 & TD 650 but along with wattage I'm looking for clarity, warmth, & punch!

    @marcosazzella - Well, my personal preference has always been Genz Benz, but I haven't played that particular Markbass amp, so I can't compare them. I don't see any reason to change the tubes until they need replacing. Genz uses Ruby Tubes, they're fine. Just my opinion.

    Hi, Ed. The song you play at 9:08, with your Precision Bass, what song is that? Is it an actual song, or is it just a pre-programmed accompaniment for practicing purposes? I'm asking you that because I just loved it, I like this kind of music a lot, sort of a bubblegum pop, if I may say so. Thank you very much for this review, keep it up.
