Agree! Scotus =self preservation first, protecting their preferred prez second, Country dead last!! I think the not-so-supreme court is doing several things... 1. They are twisting themselves into knots to assist trump and STALL. 2. They are causing a delay such that some of trump's trials cannot/will not occur before the 2024 election. 3. By not handing down a decision before the prez election, they are rolling the dice to see which candidate wins. 4. If Biden wins, they will rule against immunity because they don't want anyone that is not trump to have immunity. They will TRY to pass this off as being non-partisan in an effort to regain some of the credibility they have lost (don't be fooled! It would be just a BS show, until the next R is elected). 5. If trump wins, only then will they grant prez immunity to forever protect their favored prez. This tactic is a win-win for the scotus first and foremost, because unfortunately, that is ALL they care about first. Promoting/protecting/saving an R pres is secondary. That's what I would do if I was a corrupt, immoral, unethical, biased, agenda-based, all-powerful body with seemingly unchecked power and lifetime appointments. Reprehensible!

@@billybarnes1763 There are plenty sufficient grounds to impeach Clarence Thomas. The Constitution says federal judges and justices shall hold their offices "during good behavior." It does not specify high crimes and misdemeanors for them. Clarence Thomas was corrupted and compromised long before January 6, 2021. Jennie Thomas did not act in concert with the 2021 insurrection independently of her "friend" on the U.S. Supreme Court. His failure to recuse himself from all things trump, the 2020 election and the insurrection are very, very troubling.

I don't think Amy is MAGA, and if she is, I don't think that she's so blithely eager to ignore her duty as the men are, and I would be surprised if she voted to take this case, which simply delays Trump's major trial so that if he wins the election, he will order it dropped. Who are the 4 or more? Thomas and Alito are definite. Gorsuch, probable. Kavanaugh a bit less probable. Roberts even a bit less probable. But whoever on SCOTUS voted to take this case should be impeached. I'm not so happy with the Lib women either, who are chickenshit to make controversial rulings (like the CO insurrection disqualification case), while the Cons have no such timidity.

Agree with Chris Hayes. Even we citizens can see the obvious that No person is above the law. For the Supreme Court to even discuss this in the way they have without stating simply, No President has immunity for crimes committed.

I listened to most of the SCOTUS arguments and there were several times when I literally wanted to throw up like the vertigo mentioned. I've listened to other Alito speeches and he comes across as so insanely arrogant. When he said he didn't want to talk details it was obvious what he was trying to do. He wanted to make everything abstract (and appear so superior and smarter than everyone else). He was so transparent and did it so often that in my opinion he made a total fool of himself. When it ended I was pretty upset and kept turning over the question in my head, "How did these judges become so corrupt?" How did they loose the basic concept of right and wrong? How could they justifiy all their actions that have delayed and delayed the trials? How could they support such a corrupt individuyal as Trump? What are the points of stupid what-ifs when so much is at stake? If they grant blanket immunity to presidents I think it would be time to start a national debate to remove them all and start over.

Alito and Thomas are both arrogant beyond belief and their comments were so nakedly pro-Trump I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Nowhere in the Constitution is there any mention of the concept of presidential immunity and their arguging that, because trump is facing criminal trials, they need to make up some method to help him avoid these consequences. the false equivalencies they deploy are equally flawed.

Their Terms Have To Be Limited! Through this issue, we learned that Supreme Court justices can be authoritarians. As individuals, we need to find ways to demand that those in the most important positions in our government be given limited terms, rather than permanent careers once they win the chair.

If no one is above the law in the USA, explain Scotus what laws apply to them ? Bribery seems to be ok. They are supposed to uphold the rule of law, not write it.

I think the not-so-supreme court is doing several things... 1. They are twisting themselves into knots to assist trump and STALL. 2. They are causing a delay such that some of trump's trials cannot/will not occur before the 2024 election. 3. By not handing down a decision before the prez election, they are rolling the dice to see which candidate wins. 4. If Biden wins, they will rule against immunity because they don't want anyone that is not trump to have immunity. They will TRY to pass this off as being non-partisan in an effort to regain some of the credibility they have lost (don't be fooled! It would be just a BS show, until the next R is elected). 5. If trump wins, only then will they grant prez immunity to forever protect their favored prez. This tactic is a win-win for the scotus first and foremost, because unfortunately, that is ALL they care about first. Promoting/protecting/saving an R pres is secondary. That's what I would do if I was a corrupt, immoral, unethical, biased, agenda-based, all-powerful body with seemingly unchecked power and lifetime appointments. To date, only one Supreme Court Justice, Samuel Chase, has been impeached, and he was acquitted by the Senate in 1805. A second Supreme Court Justice, Abe Fortas, was forced to resign under threat of impeachment in 1969. With today’s political situation, the Republican held House is unlikely to impeach and there is no way there are the votes in the Senate to convict.

The positions in the supreme court need to be readjusted and leveled off at 10 years and then the judges MUST be reelected back into their position. Supreme court should not be a life position.

Imagine political commentators who only report on one side of the fence calling Supreme Court Justices political hacks ... completely delusional lol

There's a process to deal with Presidential high crimes, and that is impeachment. If presidents can be endlessly indicted after leaving office for actions while in office, then presidents can be threatened and black mailed, and THAT it's a far worse situation. Justice Roberts should have Reined in all of the hypotheticals & focus on the Task at hand.

SCOTUS needs to be abolished as it is a judicial entity without accountability and it chooses its cases which makes it a non-essential entity.

Agree, or at least a mandatory a 50/50 split. Current scotus = Self preservation first, protecting their preferred prez second, Country dead last!! I think the not-so-supreme court is doing several things... 1. They are twisting themselves into knots to assist trump and STALL. 2. They are causing a delay such that some of trump's trials cannot/will not occur before the 2024 election. 3. By not handing down a decision before the prez election, they are rolling the dice to see which candidate wins. 4. If Biden wins, they will rule against immunity because they don't want anyone that is not trump to have immunity. They will TRY to pass this off as being non-partisan in an effort to regain some of the credibility they have lost (don't be fooled! It would be just a BS show, until the next R is elected). 5. If trump wins, only then will they grant prez immunity to forever protect their favored prez. This tactic is a win-win for the scotus first and foremost, because unfortunately, that is ALL they care about first. Promoting/protecting/saving an R pres is secondary. That's what I would do if I was a corrupt, immoral, unethical, biased, agenda-based, all-powerful body with seemingly unchecked power and lifetime appointments.

Unfortunately, until you separate the courts from the politicians, this nonsense will only continue. Judges should be appointed by the judiciary and not presidents. Judges should act in an a-political way where their political leanings should not influence their deliberations. If you look further afield, no other democracy does this.

Clarence is pretty much under his wifes thumb. His decisions are what his wife wants. So he makes no right decisions.
