-I don't agree with all the negative comments about Russell playing the dumb part. I think it shows her versatility as an actress which was often overlooked. -I do agree with all the positive comments about the 50s clothes. This was when women really knew how to dress. -The location CinemaScope photography of Paris in the 50s is breathtaking. (The photography in "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" was all done on the backlot at Fox.) -For my 4th grade field trip we toured the SS United States. -The stereophonic sound is backwards. -Mo-NA-co??? Thanks for the good upload!

According to IMDb this movie was the initial effort of the production company founded by Jane Russell and her husband. It's not a sequel to Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. Jane herself elected to “copy” the mannerisms of Marilyn Monroe and the character she played in the earlier movie.

It might not be a sequel by the same studio but the novel was a sequel penned by the same Author Anita Loos. It's a shame that Marilyn didn't play opposite Jane russell again, it would be interesting to see at least another movie with them together and what she would have played as a brunette like. Since Jane Russell was such a good friend and because she didn't play characters in her own production company is that more of substance what's in this movie anyways and particularly because while Marilyn Monroe branching out on her own films where more critically acclaim it didn't seem to bring in as much money at the box office anyways. I guess there's a very hard lesson to learn here for both actresses branching out on their own which is Marketing is everything!

Thanks for the upload! I had never even heard of this film before, let alone seen it. (A follow-on to the great 'G P Blondes' . . . who knew?!) It's not a good film, sad to say. It's bizarre, outrageous, uneven, and OTT on so many levels. Yet it's worth one watch, at least. And has several redeeming features: great 1950s costumes, repeats of classical showtune songs, & one or two pithy lines in the script. What a piece of ridiculous, but fun, Hollywood! ,-)

Its actually a REALLY entertaining and fun frolic of a film!!! I was genuinely pleased and amazed that it was so stylish, especially the gowns n outfits n accessories the ladies wore, so VERY astounding how elegantly fashionable the entire production was!!! Their make-up n bizarrely desirable hair styles n dressings n feathers n hats were awesome!!! Those clothes would TOTALLY fit in today!!! Their personalities were slightly odd n I both liked and was a little put off by, mist likely due to the different character portrayals that Jane Russell switched between characters and movies being in both films. At times I wanted to see Jane Russell play the Jean Craine character like in "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes". Yet both films were spellbinding in their own ways!!! I need to watch it again to get a better feel for the music 🎶 cuz the songs, sone of them, were odd to me, but I have to see it again for sure to be sure about the memorability of the songs. It is DEFINITELY a "must see again" movie 🎥 because no matter the idiosyncrasies, I could see this being a classic among Hollywood musicals from that glamorous opulent era throughout the 1940's thru the 1960's!!! Will watch again for sure!!!!

where men walked into your room touched, your clothes and cut them into tiny bitty outfits; they could make others happy for money / maybe room and board. Now You wonder when did men get the top shelf attitude to just bowl over women standing in their way of access to their bodies/ now men rent women's bodies to bring surrogate children to couples who want children/ when nature says no. Still taking ownership of the one thing men cannot do with out a willing female...

I think this was a sop to Jane Russell who was completely out glammed and acted by Marilynn Monroe in Gentlemen prefer blondes. That court scene was not a showcase of Janes talent ,but an exposé of her shortcomings.

An enjoyable movie in parts, but Gentlemen marry brunettes just couldn't create the magic that Gentlemen prefer blondes did. For starters while Jane Russel had a fantastic figure, her hairdo was all wrong. Jeanne Crain, a mediocre actress in dramatic parts, was all wrong for a musical. In those revealing costumes, while Russel was able to carry them off with aplomb, Crain looked pathetic with her tiny frame and skinny legs. Songs were nostalgic and there were a couple of good tunes that helped liven up the picture. These included My Funny Valentine and Ain't Misbehavin. Scott Brady, as one of the leading men, was able to give a well measured performance. As for Gentlemen prefer blondes, you can see it a hundred times and still be anxious to see it again. It's recall value is limitless. Despite the familiar premise, the film grapples with story and pacing challenges. Quite a few sequences are repetitive. There are one too many twists and turns, relying heavily on spectacle, rather than substance which made the film tedious.

agreed. 2x. IIMO, Russell's attraction was her build, not her looks. But short hair for Jeanne Crain really helped her. Her normal hair was just too much and overwhelmed her beauty.
