Gentle Giant - Otter’s Paradise in Capercaillie County - Go Wild
Үй жануарлары мен аңдар
Compared to its fellow Alpine summits, the Oetscher is not very high: in fact, less than 2,000 meters. But among the gentle slopes of western Lower Austria, it really is a giant, with shoulders broad enough to bear the last of the Alps’ virgin forests. It has the country’s coldest plateau where temperatures fall to -50 degrees, the oldest trees in all of Austria, and its very own Grand Canyon, the “Tormauer”. In making access difficult for human settlers, the gentle giant has succeeded in protecting its primary fauna. The capercaillie - rare in other parts of Europe - still make their home in the coniferous forests, while snow grouse roam above the tree-line. Hawks lie in wait, and otters hunt in the brooks. Even the brown bear has found refuge on the Oetscher’s Mountainsides.

So relaxing and informative. The narration and cinematography is outstanding, thanks to everyone involved in making this film! The wildlife is what we need more of on this earth to learn from!

Otters, and all Mustelidae, are amazing.
Absolutely wonderful nature working at its full swing when there is no human interference. Thanks a lot for bringing this to the world.
The secrets of nature is my favourite channel on this platform. It always presents quality productions both in cinematography and information. Watching once is not enough

Great video, thanks.
Sad about how rare wildlife really is... I'm 73 and even that short span of time has been devastating to the wild animals... In 1965, I used to go to the Eastern Shores of the Del Mar VA beaches with a chicken neck on a 20 foot piece of twine,a long handled crab net and a peach basket...I always went back to the beach house with a basket full of blue crab... About 10 years ago when I experimented with a chicken neck on a string,in the same place.Nuttin' honey... Not even a hermit crab...Breaks the heart.💔

Philip, What you described is exactly what Over- Population and Demand does over a period of decades. I used to fish in a local stream and have fun memories of doing so, that stream has been close for forty years or more. Halibut and salmon used to be abundant in Washington State, now there are strict limits and short seasons. Seems that in most cases when we have it good we do not realize it and then in time it comes to an end.

So nice dear posted person I appreciate you. Thanks.
Wonderful documentary - I've seen a few now on Austria. I've been there a few times, but each time was spent mostly above tree-line during the summer. Wishing now that we had spent some time in the alpine forests. Lynx are my favorite cats, and capercaillie among my favorite birds.

Nicely done🔥 ✨Great upload ✨
Your documentary videos are always amazing and scientifically interesting. I remember watching one on the same subject named "The Otters trail' ", ---- narrated by M. Penny( M---for Malcom for those interested). keep it up friends and keep us viewers updated always. My request if any regarding the subject is Maxwell's life and the otter he lived with from the novel : *Ring of bright waters called- Mijbil or simply mij*

How so like man to blame an otter for destroying what we have ourselves destroyed. Dams keep the fish from breeding.

I never knew Austria had such a beautiful and large (170 square kilometer) national park! Pity local hobby hunters want to torture animals to death. The usual stupidity and sadism.
@andrewzepf7510

The stupidity, stereotyping, and intolerance is on your side, my friend. Many hunters are on the forefront of conservation. Fees for hunting/angling dollars pours a huge amount of funds into conservation programs. These same programs help keep wildlands wild - would you rather they be converted to cropland, rangeland, or clear-cuts? The meat from wild animals is also much healthier than their farmed counterparts - higher in iron, lower in saturated fat, higher in omega-3s. You're IGNORANCE of the benefits of sustainable hunting/angling is astounding, but what can I expect from a recliner "naturalist."
@andrewzepf7510

PS No decent hunter takes any pride in anything other than a quick kill - we're not into "torturing animals." You're again just showing your complete lack of knowledge of the subject, your ideological intolerance of anyone who has a different opinion on the subject, and your spoon-fed stereotypes of hunters.
