Gent-Wevelgem is often referred to as a sprinters classic. But the reality is that it takes a versatile rider to win this prestigious race over the hills of the Heuvelland and windy plains of the Westhoek. Gent-Wevelgem pays a tribute to the brave who fought for their country during WWI.
The main favorites for the 2023 edition were: Wout Van Aert, Mads Pedersen, Jasper Philipsen, Christophe Laporte and Arnaud De Lie.

These guys should have sprinted for the line. Its ok for them to fake it, as long as it looks like the best man won. To ride across the line without contesting the win is unacceptable and should be banned.

You could see who was the best, Van Aert could have dropped Laporte multiple times if he wanted to, but Van Aert already won Gent Wevelgem so gave it away
