My theories: 1. It is implied that Egeria stole the authority of the primordial sea. Thus Egeria was never the heart of the primordial sea. Maybe the Shade of Life??? 2. Nahida's dialogue states that the prophecy was written in Irminsul ensuring its fulfillment. With Celestia having control to the rules of Teyvat, the prophecy is created by writing the future on Irminsul. Futures written in Irminsul forces the planet to fulfill the prophecy however and whenever according to what is written. Thus Celestia is in no right to retaliate since the prophecy is fulfilled as the world perceived according to what they wrote. 3. Human Focalors ascended to divinity way before the cataclysm. She spent her years as a god thinking of ways to prevent the prophecy. She found her answer during the cataclysm where she ascended as the Hydro Archon. 4. Egeria and Focalors could not possibly the only gods in Fontaine before the cataclysm. 5. Furina IS Focalors. You could say Human Focalors is reborn as Furina. Furina's justice (to weigh the lives of her fellow Fontainians over her suffering) is Focalors' original justice that earned her godhood as the God of Justice. 6. Pneuma Furina is Furina's disguise as the Hydro Archon while Ousia Furina is Furina after the prophecy. Thus Pneuma Furina is Human Focalors and Ousia Furina is the real Furina.

4,5,6 aren't really what I call "theories" as they're technically correct To answer your 4th theory, yes, it's heavily suggested that there were other Fontanian gods other than Egeria and Focalors, most notably being Remus, a God King

This seems more like a recap than a theory. Now 4.2 is very complicated so there's a need for a recap, especially if it was able to highlight just those parts that were relevant to the plot and ignore the background colouring. However without a theory it's impossible to say which is which. You need a framework of what exactly happened, yes, but also why. Otherwise it's like watching a Mission Impossible movie and just remembering each scene but having lost track of why one scene follows another. Beyond that there is a question of how the events of the 4.2 AQ relate to the AQ of previous nations and the overall plot of the game. If there's no "why" then you end up feeling none of those related at all to anything in Sumeru with the Irminsul tree or Inazuma and the Sakura. All these stories (and also Scaramouche and René) are about fate. While they get pitched at different angles they all involve the rules of fate and this is what ties Nicole into the picture since she's all about that stuff. Is your view that the Fontaine AQ has no relation to Sumeru's AQ or Inazuma's AQ or Scaramouce-Wanderer or René's doomsday cult? Are they merely a series of unrelated short stories that all have something to do with fate but there are no dots to connect? In all of these cases (apart from Makoto-Sakura) we have a friendly helper pop up and tell us that fate cannot be changed ever. And then they tell us about an exception. Is this a coincidence? No, in each case the plot is about how to "deceive" fate. Not meaning that fate is a person that has a limited perspective and knowledge of events and can be fooled by misdirection. That makes no sense. Even Arlecchino, Neuvillette and Traveler see through Furina's lie eventually but we're expected to believe Celestia couldn't? Furina ends up nuking a throne. Wouldn't Celestia notice that? A dragon has their authority back. Celestia isn't seeing that? Really?? Now maybe Celestia doesn't care, or maybe Celestia is asleep or perhaps this all part of their own plans-- but one thing is absolutely for sure here: Celestia isn't failing to act because of Furina doing a good job of pretending to be a god. Even Foclaors tells Furina oh don't worry just act how a HUMAN would EXPECT a god to act. She doesn't tell her to act like Celestia would expect a god to act. So what is the deception? I'd say the deception of fate is a metaphor for manipulating the rules of the fate to gain a desired outcome or remove a bad outcome despite the rules of fate being hard to work with. In this sense Makoto, Rukkhadevata and Furina deceive fate while Scaramouche fails to. René doesn't try to. Let's talk about fate. Is the prophecy bound to come true as Nicole and a dozen other people confirm, or is it evaded as Furina and the people of Fontaine come to think at the end? That's a basic fact that needs to be addressed. Did the prophecy come true or did it not? The meaning of "deceiving fate" means that in a sense both are true and that sense is: the main parts of the prophecy come true because they cannot be changed while some smaller parts are changed in the manner of the rules about exceptions and in the whole these changes and non-changes add up to a good outcome (or in the case of Scaramouche who fails the same bad outcome). Now that's a very broad basic outline of the fate system but all the details need to be filled in. Or perhaps there could be other theories that even disagree with this basic a broad outline. All I'm saying there is fate has rules, that we get told hints about those rules, we get examples of challenging fate by various gods and we can figure out from all these stories and clues what exactly is going on. It needn't be a Mission Impossible movie where we remember the stunts but not why one scene follows another.

yeah, I've guessed that even if Furina tell the traveler, the traveler was always itch to do something about something and also bound to report the "mission" if Furina ever say anything back to the others (Neuvi, Navia, Clorinde and the others), plus there is Paimon with them at the time. due to the itch of doing something, traveler probably would tell the rest of them about the truth if Furina ever say anything about the "magical meeting with her Mirror-me". remember that N told MC to play their part, but even until they got inside Furina's inner world MC still pursuing the truth, hell, even when the Oratrice goes BRRRH and Neuvi said it will begin the execution, the MC jump up towards Furina out of their desperation of the answer, if MC jump in panic to play their part, they would've jump out of their concern to Furina (thinking that they already play their part but everything went too far to an execution, imo) only when MC receive the ticket, they understand that they need not to pursue the truth, and they took the seat and let Furina be on the stage to end the masquerade, and then they find out what Furina has been endure, (I call MC they because the protag are two. male and female, so...)

I feel like it’s pretty obvious that the prophecy will not only happen in Fontaine, but also for the rest of the nation of Teyvat that were being bound by the ‘fate’ (some nations have different prophecy/fate, but I think it will be the same, like the end of the old world as Pierro suggested) hence the Travail ending of ‘ … and you will be the one to reweave the fates’ since from what nicole state from Scara’s story and the Act V of Fontaine Quest, even though you change your history or make any methods to stop the prophecy, your fate would still be the same because you are considered ‘natives’ of Teyvat. And this is my crack theory and kind of an obvious finale: I feel like the ending of GI would probably like Elysia acting like Jesus to free humanity from the ‘fate’ EDIT: Ok, since Fontaine Quest is finished ‘yet’, what is the real reason why Rhodeia and other oceanids left Fontaine. The wiki says that they don’t acknowledge Focalors as the Hydro Archon and says that the water is filled with hatred, but it wasn’t add up, unless they didn’t know that the Focalors they’re talking to is a human acting like a god people of Fontaine wanted.

Something that caught my attention throughout the Fontain Arc was the fact that they left the era of Egeria and Remus explained through Artifacts, Weapons, Materials and Books. leaving everything a mystery, especially the theme of "Fortuna" that is mentioned so much in the History of Remus and that suspiciously shares a name with "Stela Fortuna" and there may be a connection with the whole destiny thing. Another striking thing is that Fontain's plot was Spoiled with the Ascension of Neuvillette at level 90. and the book of Fontain's fables where the three stories fit perfectly with what happened with Furina. being that the one about the donkey that pretended to be a fox is basically Furina being the masquerade, then there is the one about the crow that had everything and lost it at the hands of a fox, being how Furina lost her divinity, status and power to end up as a simple human, leaving the last fable that has not yet been fulfilled, which is the Maiden raised by foxes who wanted to marry the strongest being and ended up married to the Sun. And thanks to the mission of Nahida and Scaramuche we know that the Fables are more Reliable than anything else. Finally, about Arlecchino, I don't believe the Ally aspect that she has put on, I think that she or Sandrone (she is also in Fontain) are plotting something big and Arle has only been the masquerade that the Fatui have put up so as not to arouse suspicion and Sandrone has Total freedom.

@@rllyb0red719 I think that her destiny is to be a goddess, because it is suspicious that she has a vision that was obviously from Neuvillette, a vision that is one of a kind and that makes her change between her Archon form and her Human Form. Apart from that yes. The Throne and the position of the Hydro Archon no longer exist. but Venti once mentioned "becoming a god by the power of people's faith" so that ended up happening to her, since if you go to the Fountain of Lucine after Furina's SQ and AQ. The NPCs that are there will tell you that it does not matter if she is no longer the Archon, they will continue to worship her as a goddess and the Opera Epiclesis is a place of Worship just for being built by her.

@@yairiscapellan4874 i noticed the same things. But it’s really hard to figure out what the game is setting up for her future. Because focalors did say that she is free to live as a human and furina did always want to be free from the hydro archon role but she also mentions multiple times that she wants to have the power to help and protect the people of fontaine and that she feels useless as she is now and is still looking for her place in the world.

Some small things I want to point out that I had in the Archon Quest, one thing have you noticed that the Narwhal when being shrunked by Skirk, it seems to be turned into a bunch of geometric shapes? almost looks like a computer generated thing. Its a little bit of a small nitpick but this is my little own theory which was spurred from watching videos made by Ashikai about Teyvat and basically the theory is that pretty much everything is some sort of simulation of some kind given the amount of evidence both in game and in lore and references to something like a computer and I added my own spin that Celestia is probably some sort of advanced Super Computer managing everything, up until the end of Fontaine my theory of Teyvat being at least a full blown computer simulation might be a bit of a stretch but is still somewhat possible. Next Theory of mine is why is the sky blue?

6:06 deceiving fate is the same thing as deceiving the world. The better question is in what sense does Focalors/Furina deceive herself? 6:45 but what is the criteria for making X "look convincing" "to the prophecy"? if the HP can only "sense divinity", like a blind mole that uses smell not sight, then there's no need for Furina to act is there? And besides that when Focalors sacrifices herself the HP presumably can no longer "sense divinity" and would get angry and lash out, right? But nothing happens. 6:50 that makes no sense. if the Hydro Archon was supposed to die for some sin then why does the prophecy not predict the Hydro Archon being dead? instead it predicts the Hydro Archon alone on her throne surrounded by water and crying. You can't do that if you're dead. The punishment of the Hydro Archon is supposed to be loneliness and crying. In any case if the punishment was death then Egeria already died didn't she? If death isn't seen as a covering that punishment then every Hydro Archon would die, get replaced then the next would have to die too, and on to infinity. 7:36 did Focalors fulfill the prophecy? because Furina and the people of Fontaine say the prophecy was "wrong" and wasn't fulfilled. Who is right? 7:50 it isn't justice to combine different cases and different charges into one trial. that's injustice. courts have rules and a way to do things and while the story does play a little fast and loose at time for the benefit of pacing the trials in Fontaine appear to follow the usual rules of (1) someone is charged with an offense (2) there's a prosecution and a defense who argue the case (3) if some other crime comes to light - as in Lyney's trial - it would need a separate trial to consider (4) there's a verdict and if guilty, a sentence. Throwing everything together isn't remotely like that. 8:55 Nicole's statements basically contradict what Alice says. In context Alice might appear wrong because she's only talking about Scaramouche in a limited way, but it's not clear to me they have it all figured out at all. But this all depends on exactly what you think Nicole and Alice and Mona say on this topic, doesn't it? From what I've seen people have a hard time reconciling even what Nicole says in Sumeru (where it is supposed that she says fate can't be changed) with what she says in Fontaine. At any rate don't tell me they all agree and then don't say what it is you think they all are agreeing on saying! Also I am not sure at all Nicole is trying to help. A descender ought to be the one person Nicole cannot understand or abide. If she's trying to understand fate does she really want a bunch of people that can just ignore all rules wandering about? 11:44 I don't see any connection between Fontaine and all those other civilizations that fell. What are you saying? Are you saying all cities that get destroyed are because some god did something and Celestia put down a prophecy and then nobody was clever enough to stop it? I'm not seeing the connection between the cases. 12:14 Are you saying that just being an Archon is a sin? And by whose law? Are you saying they sinned against Celestia by doing exactly what Celestia wanted them to do? 12:28 So in saying that Furina volunteered and "put herself through" it, you're saying it is Furina, and not Focalors, or not only Focalors, who represents the identity of the entity that was the Oceanid familiar of Egeria who became an Archon and thought up this whole plan to deceive fate? It's an important detail because a lot of people are saying Furina was just a human made by Focalors and as such Furina neither volunteered nor "put herself through" it. Casual language makes it hard to tell the difference eg at 13:13 it feels like you might be saying Furina was created by Focalors. 14:40 well Focalors say it's necessary to not tell Furina the plan but you don't know why, do you? Furina is acting and she knows she is acting so what difference would it make if she also was told what the purpose of her act was and the rest of the plan? Even if Celestia could read her mind they'd already be able to see she was acting, right? What harm is telling her about the plot since we already know she won't ever let her secrets slip no matter what? And not telling her is unimaginably cruel as well as a contradiction of what Focalors just said "trusting humanity was the right choice". But she refuses to trust Furina with the plan? 15:00 I am confused here. The prophecy was changed as you say but Celestia didn't do anything. What point are you making here? It seems you are saying that the whole story line makes no sense because Celestia should have woken up and nuked Fontaine. 15:26 The quote here seems a non-sequitur. How do you feel that it fits with what you are saying? Aren't you saying they did manage to change fate and not "human hearts"? isn't that the opposite of your quote, which in any case is a quote from Nicole in Sumeru when she was talking about the Irminsul, not Nicole in Fontaine? Are you saying that you think Irminsul is behind the stuff in Fontaine too? Only those 9 minutes 20 seconds of the video are talking about the central plot.

probably just like rite of descension that held every year (just like what Venti said before we depart to Liyue, he said if we're late, we might have to wait another year), the lantern rite might as well once a year (Teyvat time). if I'm not mistaken, in the second lantern rite Paimon also say something like "... this year lantern rite (something-something) than last year". hence, made me think it is indeed once a year, and since then, lantern rite or any repeated festivities becomes my time navigation in the game, lol.
