Kia Hyundai has been recruiting a lot top talents from designers and engineers since early 2000s. People complaining about they still copy this brand and that needs to know the guy who pinned mercedes, audi, bmw or cadillac has been working for Hyundai and Kia for years now. Its a globalization where top talents are recruited where its needed.

Reliability to resale value, to materials used, to craftmanship, the Lexus LS outclasses it. I own a LS500, and an E63. I sat in Audi S7's to Mercedes S class and have to say I picked the LS500 for a good reason.

Of course you're going to say that since you own that car. Genesis is a new brand we don't know how long they're going to last but I want more then just reliability out of my car especially when I'm dropping $90K plus for a car so definitely ain't getting lexus. And LS resale value is terrible, it's depreciates fast since demand is so low

@@i.d.6492 Lexus outclasses all other Asian automakers period except Chinese automakers. China is coming out with stuff that's very nice and I'm interested. The only people that maybe make something better is barely Mercedes and even BMW, I've seen their 7 series, it's a better drivers car, but not a better luxury car. The S class, only barely inches ahead too unless you go up the models like the S63. Try and sell Mercedes or bmw after 60k miles, or 100k kms, you'll be surprised at how much people do not want anything to do with your vehicle because of mercedes and bmw maintenance and reliability. People will pick up a 2nd hand Lexus like it's fresh water, they sell faster, they hold their value better and people are not afraid to take care of them. The Lexus LS has amazing craftsmanship, and it creaks (squeaking, rattling in the vehicle) less than the S class. I chose the LS for good reason, not just that "i own the car", I actually had to decide for myself when picking between these vehicles which is of better value for me and my 100k cash.

Don't doubt that you own those vehicles. However if you don't also own, or at least have driven the redesigned G90, your opinion is neutral at best. If you had one you'd choose it every time over the LS500 for every day driving. really, how often are you hard cornering in that big boat of a vehicle? Im Sure if Lexus went straight up luxury sedan (like the G90) they could squash genesis. However, so far they havnt. They are in this weird sporty...semi luxury spot in a huge ass car

@@craigheron2942 Craftsmanship wise, I still preferred the Lexus. The sweeping lines are more pronounced, the screen is more integrated, just the feel/look of the buttons were more premium, the suspension is plush and sporty when needed so corners are not an issue. The trunk space is larger, the engine is built by Lexus/Toyota, not Hyundai, so I trust it's reliability more, which goes with branding. I prefer the LS500 because it's everything you would need, without the European maintenance, while competing with them. I can only give the Genesis, the road presence... they look good, but I still pick the LS500. The LS500 is also, almost unmistakable once you've seen one, and while at that, you don't see them on every corner like the Genesis. I enjoy the rarity.

Before purchasing a Genesis, check your service wait times. I purchased a 2019 G90. It takes a month to get service and now, I've had 2 dealerships decline the valet service because, "I didn't purchase it from them". That wasn't what was promised. I even called Genesis USA. The person on the phone knew of the problem but offered no help. Now, the G90 is over $100K. This is crazy. If you want to burn $100K why not get married ? If I'm to be lied to and treated this way, I might as well purchase a BMW. At least I'll have the badge snobbery we all know of.

I want a G90 so bad, but ALL Genesis Service Department reviews on all of Yelp is nothing but complaints & horrible reviews regarding wait times, the lack of care & so many other complaints the list goes on & on. Genesis Service Departments sound totally worthless & this makes me totally reluctant on purchasing one. How is any warranty worth anything if they lie on the warranty contract in regards to their service and don't care about their customer base? If I was to buy I'd have to take it to ANY other mechanic than a Genesis dealership service department that is worthless. It makes no sense in buying a new car. Genesis is RUINING their dealerships & making BORKEN PROMISES to customers it sounds like to me on their warranties on their vehicles because their Dealership Service Department sound totally worthless. I'm second guessing buying a G90 for these main reasons.

I bought an '11 LS460 last year. Great car. One thing I noticed was the lack of V8 engines in the new ones. I'm sure the V6 is powerful, but I would miss the V8 sound in this type of car. These cars are not worth leasing. If you want it, buy one, but don't buy it new. Way too expensive. Mine has the adjustable suspension, but I rarely take it out of normal. Paul and Todd are correct. These are cruisers. Sport mode goes completely against what the car was made to do - coddle everyone inside.

I dunno why I've always had a soft spot for the big luxury sedans, nearly everything else I go for is either tiny and sporty or compact-mid with a hatch; they just seem like the car I'd want to waft across the country in, and I would like to waft across the country someday. Also feels like they're reminiscent of a time where you worked hard and became successful to get rich enough to own one of these to drive yourself to work in, and nowadays the rich are so rich there's no use for a nice sedan when you can have 3 yachts, a private jet, and several Bugattis. This segment represents a simpler time of "attainable aspiration" that's disappeared over the last few decades. I applaud the Genesis for tackling it with style and verve, even if it's an anachronism. The Lexus is an excellent car but it's got too many stylistic ties to ES350s and even Camrys to justify what has become a more emotional purchase in this day and age. And that spec they have it in...neutral earth gray over gym bag red...that's just so cringe. Please don't buy an LS in that color scheme 😅

Do not buy a Genesis G80. I had a 2021 G80 bought used with 4k miles and sold it after 1 year since it was so bad. 1) Front Headliner was not secured to the roof. I could see the plastic clips if i pulled it down slightly. How did this get past quality control wtf? 2) Panoramic roof would flex and crack if i go over uneven surfaces, which never happened with any cars I've owned. Dealerships had 4 tries to fix but could not fix 3) Weak AC that is terribly inadequate for Texas weather. 4) Rides rough and not very comfortable even with non-run flats. Granted I had the 20 inch wheels but still. 5) Poor NVH in general even with acoustic laminated glass compared to other luxury cars I've owned. 6) Gas mileage for the V6 sits around 19 mph 60/40 highway city driving which is pretty mediocre. 7) Just does not drive as well overall as the Germans or Japanese. You can tell the Koreans brands just arent quite up to snuff when it comes to driving dynamics.

The Lucid Air can be several times the price with an interior that looks way cheaper than that of a G80.

Also if you ever get service done. Automatic loaner no questions asked. BMW and Mercedes have been 50/50 on it as of late but Genesis has the best care for thier cars by far with I'd say BMW being next because of the extended warranty program they have

I enjoyed the test drive, but I had made my decision the second we pulled out of the lot. I've had my car for 6 months and absolutely love it. I am in the position to own (not rent) either vehicle in this video as well as the S-Class. I know perception is a thing for lots of people. I removed the perception of what others think about what I drive long ago because it's irrelevant to me. I saw Benz' get repo'd right from service departments. So while others are stuck on the perception that someone driving these vehicles must be on the ball, all I think about is the quality after dealing with tens of thousands of them over nearly three decades as well as people who stretch themselves financially to exude a 'perception.' Perception is irrelevant to me but I most certainly get it. People will look at the G90 as a $100,000 Hyundai just like they looked at the Phaeton as a $100,000 Volkswagen - and even today at a lower price point with the Arteon. I think it's a great looking car but the perception is it's a $60,000 Volkswagen. Instead, people will go down the road to Audi and get a Volkswagen with four rings on the grill because of the perception.

@ronnymb67 My point is the odds of you spending 100k on a Genesis over a Lexus, B W or Audi are low. And even if you would you would be the exception and not the rule. I own a 2022 LS. I almost bought the 2022 BMW 750 but declined because I didn't trust it long term. The G90 is a great car. But majority of people who have that kind of money to spend won't use it on a Hyundai. The reputation of Toyota is respectable worldwide. So the perception of spending money on a Lexus makes more sense than a Genesis.

@@mob4ever Agreed. I am an exception because I would take the G90 even though the LS is a great car. Would most people? No. It's an unknown entity I'd be willing to try. Newer Benz', Audi, etc are known entities to me and I've experienced being left stranded multiple times within the warranties. And brilliant move on your part chosing the LS over the BMW. While not scientific, I base my decisions on my experiences, not perception. I'll focus on Mercedes but in my mind it applies to it's competitors as well. There was a time when they really were "engineered like no other car in the world" - notice they don't use that line anymore. Don't get me wrong. Most newer ones are great looking, fast, and loaded with boat loads of technology. They impress the neighbors. But I'm hard pressed to see many from let's say 2010 on the road let alone from the 2000s. They went from indestructible things like the 123 and 126 Chassis' to things that can't even make it off the showroom floor without major issues. As I type this, a friend who is also a fan of what Mercedes once was, sent me a link to an ad for a 79 Mercedes 300TD wagon with 788,000 miles. That was once the rule with Mercedes. Now it's a rarity. In my experience, Mercedes has been riding the coat tails of that perception for over two decades. In my personal experience of ownership and my professional experience, they and the others simply care about you making it through your lease period and/or 4/50 warranty with as few claims as possible. At 4 years and a day or 50,001 miles, good luck. 🥂 on the LS.

The interior is as beautiful as the exterior, The Lexus, I'm a bit tired of the look of the front end, it's been done for years with only minor tweaks. This comparison review you produced was well done! My following comments are to assist anyone who is strongly considering purchasing a Genesis G90. I am not affiliated with Genesis other than being a repeat owner of both these models. My wife just received her 2024 G90 E Supercharged. Its her new daily driver. It just happened to be delivered to my residence on my birthday. I had some fun with that. I'm not looking to debate whose brand is the best. We had one LS 500 which my wife drove, 2 cars back. When it was time for a change she went into a BMW 7 series next. This G90 is closing in on Mercedes and BMW, where Lexus is not. I currently own both those brands, too. My daily driver is a 2022 BMW Alpina, which I thoroughly enjoy! Drove a 2019 Mercedes AMG S63 prior to the Aplina. The AMG 63's 603 hp is missed. She previously had a 2021 G90 5.0, which she absolutely enjoyed. It was unfortunately totaled on interstate 95 NB, doing 60. My wife and youngest son walked away without a scratch, bruise, bump, cut, or any pain. I am beyond grateful, and the car really held up from a safety aspect. That alone speaks volumes for this model! So, for instance, the tech in the 2020 Alpina is just so complicated. The 2024 G90 tech blows it out of the water. It cost me a 1/4 of a million dollars to make that hands-on assessment!😮 So, Genesis has in recent years recruited some top design talent from within the luxury car industry, with a purpose! 😮 Over the years, I have had several S Class models (one being a 2018 Maybach), BMW 7 Series, Aston Martins, and two Bentley's, which I should have stopped at one. Believe me, all these luxury brands have their downfalls. I have spent a boat load of monies learning this reality. I am a car collector for over 40 years now. I've been car enthusiast since I was a youngster. Cars have been a passion. My first nice car purchase was a 1962 C1 corvette in the late 70s, paid $4,500.00 for it, and still I still own it today. I used it to catch the eye of my beautiful bride of almost 40 years now. Little did she know what was in store for us down the road! My prize collection is my wife, our 7 children (no twins) and 5 grandchildren. They are my greatest accomplishments in life! You highlighted both vehicles extremely accurately. I really appreciate the new G90's interior design and quality. It has a modern flair to it, and with the white interior it attempts to compete with the white interior in my 2017 Bentley Flying Spur. So, if you are on the fence regarding a G90 purchase, you will not be disappointed. It's a great value for the money. I would recommend upgrading to the E Supercharged model if it's in your budget. The following is for the super car enthusiasts out there. Hope it can be taken as an encouragement. Just an FYI, I was homeless at 17 in 1974, no inheritance funding came my way. Let's just say that as life has gone on, I have been very fortunate to become well funded. I am driven, but much credit has to go to my wife and the many great dedicated people surrounding us! They have shared in the wealth as they earned it! Its allowed me to keep filling up the warehouse I call my garage. 53 stalls with cars in them and still room for a few more. I have respect money without loving it. I love what it has allowed me to do for my family, friends, and helping many people in need! I will mention 10 of my many favorites in my garage in no certain order. Sorry Genesis you didn't make the cut. 2021 Ferrari 488 Coupe Ext.: Red / Int: Black 2012 Lamborghini Aventador Exterior: Arancio Argos Pearl Interior: Orange/Black 2018 Lamborghini Huracan 580-2 Spyder Blue / Black 2021 McLaren 720S Black / Black 2019 Aston Martin DB11 V12 Coupe RWD Gray / Beige 1962 C1 Corvette (Purchased in 1978) matching numbers original Red / Black 2022 C8 Covette Z51 Coupe (My wife's car) White / Black&Red 2019 C7 Corvette ZR 1. 3ZR Coupe Gray / Black Red 2024 C8 Corvette Z06 Coupe (Bucket list for me) Seas Wolf Gray / Jet Black 1969 Plymouth GTX 440 6 pack Lime Green Black Strips/ Black I still feel like I am living a dream....The American Dream that I never let go of in the dark times. We would have loved to. And we’ve driven the executive version before. In this case, Lexus wanted us to have the F-Sport version (and the G90 doesn’t come in “drivers version”). So we gleaned from our prior experience and put together the two we had - luckily the premise of the piece (Genesis doing what Lexus did in the same market) was still possible. Thanks for watching.

You shouldn't compare 2 different types of vehicles the lexus is an F sport, Of course its interior is basic and doesn't compare it doesn't have all the extras, compare it to any LS500 that has a luxury package that has all the rear seat luxury stuff, it comes with kirko glass trim pieces on the doors. I think thats how its spelled. There's also a special hand woven material on the doors as well,so beautiful.thats the comparison we need to see.

The reason Lexus succeeded is because it is ultimately a Toyota. That means a nice, reliable car with a good dealership network and corporation that backs up the product and takes care of you should there be any issues. Genesis is ultimately a Hyundai, which means a terrible dealership network and a corporation that will do anything it can to blame your vehicle problems on you.

Both very practical cars in that segment. Just depends on the owners lifestyle. F Sport owners usually love to floor it on open roads and the car will still be durable and last long. G90 owners usually hire a driver and prefers to do work while on the road.

I'd like it if it was ti match the exterior and rims. But yeah this Lexus looks nasty with it. It just doesn't flow well. Ik F sport also has some gun metal Grey colors I think it would have kept the luxury feel while adding a level of sportiness of the interior was a mixture of black, gun metal grey, graphite, and deep wood colors.

The original LS really had to stand out in only one way upon release: QUALITY. Against the Germans of that era, that was a challenge, but really, that was about it. It didnt need to have a million gadgets or gizmos and screens to compete succesfully against them. In 2023, quality and durability seem to have been put in the trunk. It's all about gadgets and gizmos...things that will break or go out of date...quickly. I LOVE the looks of the Genesis, just love it. But...and there is always a but...I really believe the sense of quality and durability are gone for Lexus, leaving Genesis to only have to make their car smooth and durable enough to last the warranty. With highly turbo/supercharged small displacement V6 engines, durability doesn't seem to be a characteristic that comes to mind concerning these cars. At least the Genesis is very appealing to my eye. Thank you for the fair and objective review!
