Wonderful that your rescued a generator that would otherwise be destined for a scrapyard. Having said that, really sad - and sadly typical of today - that the original repair place was presumably a "follow the steps in a service manual" shop, and would swap parts with0out ever discovering that the issue is actually a defective connection that could fixed with some thoughtful diagnosis and skill.

It's wonderful that you were able to repair the stator windings, I wouldn't trust that repair shop in the future, instead of recommending a new stator they recommended a new stator and rotor and avr, where as a new generator head would be cheaper to replace vs 3 separate parts. More than likely the shop would have ordered an new generator head and still charged for the parts separately and labor to install each individually. The shop should have said a new generator head was needed.

i would suspect those wires on the voltage regulator are not a coil but a voltage tap/reference for the regulator. Nice work.
