I am an 86-year-old man and I absolutely agree!! I am an amateur singer and guitar player and I do my best to sing this song and I am always humbled when I hear this great artist do it!!

Gene, Is Finally getting the recognition, He Is one of the GREATEST SINGERS ,and deserves the NIGHT HE Just GOT!!!!! Keep the Songs coming....no one sings them like GENE...

I’ve been a Gene fan since I was a teenager. The most impressive thing about Gene and this song is to watch him sing it among the best country singers around. When he gets to the very last line that he so powerfully sings “when I’m gone”, even the stars will start squirming in there chairs, just waiting for him to hit that iconic ending. He always nails it and even the stars ALWAYS give him a standing ovation. He’s the greatest!

When i hear that song it takes me back to when my mom was alive she loved this guy. Still going strong.

Heard this song for years and it's been played at a lot of the funerals over the years

I’ve loved this song since I was a young girl and my best friend had this song on a single record. We would play it over and over all the time. Still a favorite of mine.

Saw Gene At Penn’s Peak in Jim Thorpe PA several years ago he sounds just as good in person as he does on the records he is truly an amazing singer

A legendary singer. One of the very greatest voices in country music.

This guy breaks every record ever held, just by this one performance. Man.....this guy is old...and a master. I think of this. When I was a big ol' kid, an old man said to me, "Gene Watson is the best country singer I have ever heard". I am 70. And here we are.

Wow, Gene can still do that high note at the end, awesome!

Always been a "HUGE" fan! I've thrown myself a few "pity" parties back in my teenage years while listening to this wonderful country legend!

Now this is REAL country music. Love to hear him sing

Gene Watson made this song so special. Wish I could get that last line like that. Just simply Great!!

He is still amazing, you can't help but fall in love with him. Older or not he's still one hell of a good looking man. Putting that together with his beautiful voice and you have one of the greatest performers if all time.😘😍🤩

ive had this song planned for my funeral for so many years i'm beginng to think i may never go. i'm a fan for so many reasons, besides your incredible voice, the fact that you worked at the job you did means so much in our family of old mechanics and body men. my older brother was one of the best and live to be almost 79 when we lost him, i'm close to 80 and still planning on this being played at my passing, yeah my wife of almost 30yrs left 7yrs ago and this hits home. thanks for an incredible ride Gene

Memory fails… but I recall you featured early in your career by Loretta Lynn on her concerts. “Farewell Party” stands alone…. on a very short list of greatest country recordings of all time. If the world survives people will be listening to that song 100 years from now. I laugh at these lists that rank “best country singers”. Ignorant nonsense. Time sifts the wheat from the chaff.
