While in your diagram I understand that CAP is attached to CAP site but where cAMP is attached to CAP ??and what is the reason of increase of cAMP when there is low concentration of glucose?. I like your lectures alot ,are easy simple, and enlightening .

    you are a beast! thank you for all your videos. tiny confusion for me... for site 3, is that what the texbook refers to as enhancers? i thought they can be really far away(upto 1000 base pairs? but here they are next to promotor?) it also said it aids in the transcription of the structural genes but is it essential ( as in without the enhancers, transcription would not proceed?) or is it all just a simultaneous process (site 3 binds enhancers+activators, allolactose binds repressor, promotor binds RNA Pol) and transcription happens? i guess im most confused about where site 3 is located becasue the transcriptional factors can pick up on enhancers from very far away or is it becasue of the "hairpin" like structure that makes it possible for the enhancer activators to be picked up by transcriptional factors, or are these actativators different from enhancer activators?

    in the coding region there is three genes one is called Beta-galactosidase that break lactose into glucose and galactose,permease that permit enter the lactose into the cell while transacetylase to detoxify non-metabolizable pyranosides by acetylating them and preventing their reentry into the cell

    Correction: RNA polymerase binds to the promotor on the regulatory gene and transcribes the repressor protein which will bind to the operator on the operon. (Sourced from a Campbell CH27)

    Do bacterial Repressors read the operon from a 5' to 3' fashion ???

  • @isahussain7609
    @isahussain76097 жыл бұрын

    Hey there, I had a question: you mentioned that the RNA polymerase will transcribe the gene for the repressor protein. This will prevent the transcription from taking place. However, once the allolactose molecules bind to repressor protein and detach it from the operon, this would mean that the RNA polymerase can transcribe. This is where I got confused; it states in the video that the first gene in the coding section leads to the production of B-Galactotidase. Wouldn't that prevent transcription though? Isn't this the same thing as the repressor protein? If you could take the time out of your day to answer this, I'd highly appreciate it. You're a really effective teacher lol. Thank you.

    B-Galactosidase is not a repressor, it breaks down lactose into in galactose and glucose.
