Lily, the sense of gender fades because as you transition further and you are perceived by yourself and others more as a woman, it's like you're a fish out of water that has been put back in the tank. You no longer notice the water as much as you did it's absence when you were flapping around on the floor trying to breath air through the gills. That's why it's a trap when gc feminists say what do you mean you feel like a woman. They are trying to bait us into saying something they can deem as misogyny. Something like "well I feel like wearing dresses." Dylan Mullaney walked into that one blindly.

Unfortunate to see people having an issue with transgender peoples, here! It's no one's place to restrain how individuals can address the gender dysphoria they struggle with. If they come to regret transitioning like many say they will, then that's on them! If it satisfies them and allows them to be their best selves, great! Why don't you all allow people to find their own path instead of allowing your disgust to act as a cage for people you don't personally understand the struggles of? I'm a big advocate for personal happiness. Anyway, very intellectual discussion, wonderful that you had Lily here! Such a great collab, you both produce such thought provoking videos.

Its not disgust or hate, its concern. Maybe i just dont get it but i wont affirm someone with body integrity identity disorder(people who want to cut off functioning limbs) and i see no difference with that and the trans stuff. These people need psychiatric help not surgery. Sidenote, i've also been informed that gender is a sosial construct so why do trans people even need surgery when they could just identify as whatever?

It's kinda absurd how much of the "trans-debate" is solely about trans women. I think it's because the transphobia seems to be solely against trans women, so naturally, when you defend, all you see is trans women discussed. And that's kinda... Weird, right? It's this lack of trust in men, I guess. That they "infiltrate". Either women's sports or Christian communities lmao. That's what the fear is. And that's kinda fucked up. Not just because it's transphobic, but that there's such a distrust in men that whatever they're doing, there's an interior motive to fuck something up.

It is so depressing to see how stuborn and completely unhinged some people are (as is the case with this comment section), they feel intiteled to disprove other people's subjective experiences, while they stick to some unfounded views of the world and take it as the ultimate truth that one can imperically reach. all the while doing little to no research to see how the scientific community really analyses the issue, whether through the lenses of neuroscience, sociology or psychology. and that's not only apparent in the trans debate, the majority of political debates are always treated as a boxing match, and not as argumental exchange. To any trans person that might be reading this (or anyone who's struggling with gender dismorphia) i hope you always keep fighting for you right to express yourself freely, and never let these sick minded individuals cut through your skin, you may feel the need to enlighten these people about your experience, but a majority of them are only there to bully you and not to geniunly understand how you feel.

I am fine with that, I think however there is an issue with letting or forcing children to make that decision before they have developed their critical faculties and emotional maturity this can and has hurt people, and denying how genders work isn't doing us any favors. Be what you wanna be but don't alter reality, I understand that you might see me as a transphobe, however I truly don't mind people being trans, but there are only two genders, and there is also the trans between the genders but ultimately you cannot change your chromosomes, a person born a man will never have the chromosomes a woman has.

@@ObliqueXuba @ObliqueXuba Reminder, people under 18 can only do hormones meds. When someone is 18 or older then they can a further step to do surgery if they want to. So the only thing "children" can do is hormones (which you have to be up by a certain age like 12 or 13 and older to start these hormones, so it's just only teenagers that can do so). Forcing? Is someone forced to change their hair color as an example? Same goes for your gender identity and more. I deicide this stuff myself when i was 15. And like why does it matter that my chromosomes are what they are? I know i can't change such and it doesn't matters to me. Also im gonna be honest, with the whole "there's only 2 genders" i don't care, like i wish there was 0 since a lot can be to many. Plus i think it would help people more comfy with more fem or masc stuff instead of stereo types of "men" (being masculine) and "women" (feminine). Also i gotta admit, you do sound a bit confused bud, i understand since i took a few years to understand the whole trans experience.

@@ObliqueXuba id like to preface this by saying i am not looking to argue, but to educate ^^ i think the most crucial part to understand when the discussion of minors being “forced” into medically transitioning is that it’s incredibly difficult to be seen at an endocrinologist for HRT specifically - and even if you do get in, it is a horrifically long process to be taken seriously and get the treatment you’re needing so with that in mind, even if minors were somehow being “forced” to transition, it’s hard to actually get any treatment regardless onto the 2 genders debate: biological s*x (sorry for the censor, idk how youtube filtering works 😭) and gender are two completely different things! and whether you believe this or not, it’s been proven many times over the years gender is a social structure that was connected to biological factors of humans since it was seen as “easier” and biological s*x is what you were thinking of - chromosomes trust me, we are aware that we can’t change our chromosomes! you don’t have to keep saying that lol however since gender is a social construct like i mentioned before, we all have the power to change how we present/identify it’s important to educate yourself on these topics before you go into discussion like these! id definitely recommend visiting unbiased and trans-friendly websites that offer a wider selection of information than what i said :-) take care

You are actually right about that. It’s that in those cases people make those decisions is because of the body dysphoria they experience in society as always being perceived and assumed in ways they don’t want to. So some individuals despite their principals have a hard time fighting this dysphoria so conform in a way where people around them will think of them how they want to. Sorry if this doesn’t make too much sense. Some people are ok with how they perceive themselves and don’t feel to change for society, and for others it’s much more harder.

John Dewey is kind of the "aggregate" thinker in the Pragmatist school, being the last link between the initial William James/Charles Sanders Peirce founding of the philosophical movement and the later "Neopragmatist" school of Richard Rorty/Jurgen Habermas. Dewey's more popular book "Democracy and Education," more sociological book "Individualism Old and New," and my favorite and less read book "The Quest for Certainty" are all great places to start. Also, James' work "Pragmatism." Other than that, the online Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy is a great and free resource! It's a fascinating school mainly in that it both serves as a bridge between the continental/analytical philosophical schools AND is basically both and neither. Enjoy!

Mainly because the face of these movements that advocate for things like “trans acceptance” were these stereotypical angry young people who seemed like they have a very self-contained shut-in like view of the world, a view it seems would prove to me that the “woke” movement is one that is pushed by mainly people it would be easy to shove aside as people of disrepute. The reason I’m not a transphobe or have a distasteful attitude towards what people are pushing as modern day values and beliefs. Is that I have met people who identify as the opposite gender or have a same sex attraction, these people have become what I can call very close friends. These people are the most respectful, kind, and truly loving characters who I can say I care about. I really changed as a person seeing all these people that have these modern characteristics that I was so uncomfortable with, just being… normal, human beings like me and you who also go through all the chronic upsets and challenges that I go through. And in fact they face more mental challenge as opposed to me as they have an inner conflict about what gender they are comfortable with. I think that this is important for trans people to hear, all these “unprogressive” people who have a very rough stance on modern issues I think just have a lack of connection with the people that have a more open agenda. As a young man myself and more of a conservative, I think other young people with hateful views should try and think outside of the box and not minimize their worldview on things only shown through the mainstream media and activism. I know that was a lot to read, maybe even hardly legible. It is also fairly likely that no one is going to read this, but I just thought it was important to say.

Damn that's interesting I always thought. I always thought that content that is produced by modern philosopher like idk zupancic book what is sex or Zizek ranting about the lacanian sexual difference. Are severely outdated. Because we have all that multiplicity of new identities and these uncharted territory. But after listening to you two I'm like. It's a good point that stuff like new gender identities don't have a large developed political program. So now I'm like. Is the final idea more in line of hooks thinking, that we need this mass intersectional movement to dismantle the sexist opression or we need, like Lilly says. Move past the gendered reality so more akin to Foucault.

Wrong :/ and I’m not gonna try to be nice about you spreading fake information because this is why so many young people in the community kill themselves. You all invite them in with big emotional tears and big fake smiles and say “yeah yeah come over here! Identify with us! We’ll keep you safe, not like those mean offensive bullies in your family and friend groups!” And then they enter and realize there’s literally 0 structure or understanding and they’re completely on their own mentally because the .00001% of them that aren’t mentally ill couldn’t possibly reach out to every single child being coerced into this lifestyle while never being told anything true. this isn’t new territory. These aren’t new identities. That is in fact so insane to read I can only assume you’re either a child or you literally didn’t pay attention at all in high school because you were busy looking deviant art or tumblr. Im not surprised when the only people you even mentioned are new age, pop “intellectuals” like Zizek. I mean Foucault? Did you just start at “people everyone who thinks they’re smart but is actually very low IQ mentions to feel smart in a public setting.” Wake up and realize you think and talk exactly like all these other people and then wake up that after you persuade people into thinking like yourself too, they statistically are going to fucking kill themselves and it’s exactly because of the confusing, meaningless, incorrect, and FAKE EMOTIONAL MISINFORMATION BULLSHIT LIKE THIS HORSE FUCKING SHIT. I don’t know why you elect to write entire paragraphs so dramatically about something you don’t know anything about. That’s INSANE. If you ever decide to actually look anything up to have a better understanding of reality instead of getting emotionally and leaving paragraphs worth of emotional opinion disguised as fact, you’d actual end up helping your cause 10 fold than the 0% you’re helping them by being incorrect. Humans dealing men and women not feeling like men and women has been around for almost as long as humanity. Civilizations throughout time have clear evidence of this that you must have been too busy commenting to ever hear about. These situations have played out for thousands of years and here’s the thing I know you don’t like. It didn’t end well for those people in those civilizations. Not because the prejudice, in fact most civilizations celebrated these men that dressed as women and vice versa. It didn’t end well because, as observed, when humans live as something they are not then they experience turmoil and die. I get that’s not fun to learn about but hey, at least I’m telling the truth and not emotionally leaving comments luring people into a lifestyle that’s gonna land them with permanent mental trauma the likes of which no average human can relate to, and then they’ll probably die. Not to mention how the hormonal science is not well researched and that also leads to a plethora of permanent health effects! But hey sure. Go ahead and play pretend without every actually researching something. Celebrate your community when every fucking one else is trying to get you clean yourselves the fuck up so the children in your community stop KILLING THEMSELVES. But yeah keep ignoring them and comment on pop philosophy KZreadrs so you can feel like you’re progressively and bravely leading the front of these “new uncharted territories!” Jesus Christ why do all people with your personality talk like you wanna be in adventure time, it’s unhinged. Hey but whatever! You don’t actually give a shit or you would’ve just looked up anything on the subject that wasn’t recommended on your homepage. Just keep using buzzwords like everyone else exactly like you but never be smart enough to become self aware that you’re saying the same exact thing. You all DECIDED to go head first into this lifestyle and in the process said FUCK YOU MOM AND DAD and anyone else that didn’t fully understand what they were doing. And you know why they don’t understand? BECAUSE YOU DONT. BECAUSE YOUR EXPLANATIONS ARE WRONG AND DONT MAKE SENSE AND YOU JUST GET EMOTIONAL AND ANGRY IF ANYONE CALLS THAT OUT. AND THEN THERES NO REALITY OR STRUCTURE IN YOUR COMMUNITY, ITS ALL WELCOMING WITH BIG SMILES AND PROMISES OF A BETTER LIFE AND SAFETY. AND THEN STATISTICALLY MOST OF YOU GUYS KILL YOURSELVES. BUT YOU LOOK AT THAT LIKE A NECESSARY CASUALTY. CHILDREN DEAD AND YOURE THINKING “oh well it makes sense because we are being marginalized! It’s like civil rights or gay rights! People are gonna put us down but we must continue the adventure! We must keep marching!” YOURE NOT IN THE SAME BOAT AS THOSE THINGS AT ALL. YOU ARE NO CIVIL RIGHTS ANYTHING. NO ONE IS BLOCKING YOUR RIGHTS TO DEMONSTRATE. NO ONE IS BLOCKING YOUR PRIVILEGES YOU HAVE OVER CIS PEOPLE. NO ONE EVEN FUCKING CARES, WE JUST DONT KNOW WHAT THE FUCK YOURE DOING BECAUSE YOU DONT KNOW WHAT THE FUCK YOURE DOING. MAYBE IF YOU CANT EXPLAIN YOUR SITUATION COHERENTLY YOURE FUCKING CRAZY AND NOT MLKjr. THERE ARE LITERALLY MORE LAWS PROTECTING CHILD TRANSITIONING THAN AGAINST IT. SO THE DEATH. THE SUICIDE. ITS FROM YOU GUYS. THATS A DIRECT CAUSE FROM WHATEVER THE FUCK YOU ARE DOING. NOT SOCIETY. WHY DONT YOU TAKE FUCKING RESPONSIBILITY BECAUSE EVEN WHEN ITS CELEBRATED AND ACCEPTED BY SOCIETY (LIKE I MENTIONED IT HAS BEEN THROUGH CIVILIZATIONS SINCE THE DAWN OF HUMANITY) THOSE THAT INDULGE WILL STILL FACE PURE MENTAL DISORDER AND PROBABLY DIE FROM THEIR OWN HAND. GO AHEAD AND KEEP TRYING TO PIN THAT ON THE WORLD AT LARGE. YOURE NOT SMART. YOU MIGHT BE AS DIM WITTED AS THEY COME IF YOU READ ALL THIS AND JUST GET EMOTIONAL. DO BETTER, LEARN AND ACTUALLY HELP THE PEOPLE AROUND YOU INSTEAD OF BEING PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE CUNTS THAT DO NOTHING AND LET YOUR COMMUNITY MEMBERS SLIP THROUGH THE SAFETY NET THAT DOESNT EXIST

Yeah, I really don’t know. My question is - can we really move past gender when most of us are still treated according to our gender? Sometimes, the post-gender advocates come across as disassociative or unrealistic. I think this way of thinking will probably go in the same trajectory as the sexual revolution. Basically, we’ll see it be really popular and visible. But it will come with unforeseen consequences, then it’ll spur a huge backlash as a result.
