Wow! Your use of the gel plate is far beyond what I've seen others do with. Thanks for sharing your techniques and the media you use in such detail.

I agree! You have such cool art designs. I think you and I like some of the same music groups, too. Rock on, my man. I have been very ill since about November of 2023 and haven't been able to buy a Gelli plate like I've wanted to. I'm hoping that I'll have enough money in March or April... since I can't walk on my own without falling, I just need to sit at my drafting table and create art!
Thank you for this amazing use of the gelli plate. It has stretched my ideas way past my previous ideas.

You are awesome! AWESOME, when I’ve watched your videos my head is spinning with all your creative ideas. So inspiring! Thank you
Absolutely love how you work with the bones of composition, texture, line etc.while demonstrating so many techniques! Priceless classes. Thank you so much! 👍👊 Ps- I have used quality stick glue for over 7 yrs and can testify it works fine👍
I enjoy your enthusiasm for your work and for good material to work with. Beautiful pieces, thanks Mark!
You have really changed the way I think about my he plate printing. I don’t have to fill up the whole plate every time if I just want a stripe or a circle, I can do that and not have to worry about the rest of the piece until I’m ready to tackle it.

Waiting for this next installment has been excruciating! However, this will now be the single starter video I recommend to people I think would be interested in the fine art and design possibilities of the gel plate. There's so much out there on the usual gel printmaking techniques, but this is the single most compact source of ideas about mixed media gel printing that I've ever seen. (If there were a post-secondary degree in watching KZread videos on gel printing and mixed media, I'd be just about ready to graduate, at this point.) Only part-way through, I recommended it to a former college printmaking instructor, who is introducing units on gel printing for use by design students. This would be perfect! Hopefully, it also gains you more subscribers. I do have a gentle but firm disagreement with you about glue sticks: I've ordered a number of your works, at this point, and by the time they cross the pond, there are repeatedly places in the collage elements that have begun to lift. This is definitely true of those shipped rolled. I believe it's also true of at least one of the items shipped flat. Also, when I've used glue sticks in mixed-media work where I later had to paint over them--especially if the paint was at all diluted, but also with simply liquid acrylic medium or clear gesso--I've had problems with the glue stick releasing, dissolving or suspending in the paint, and creating in a sticky mess. That said, the three things I most... uh, /four/ things... The ___ things I most liked in this video are: The pop-art brush stroke: I'd never thought about the way diluted paint would work for simple broad brush strokes. Brilliant! Probably the number one favorite thing: I'd never thought about the unique possibilities the actual flexibility of the gel plate offers for initially taking the physical impression of a dimensional object. Triple Brilliant! Related to the above, I'm struck by the effectiveness of metal indication in the prints of the ferrule areas of your brushes. From what I can tell from the video, the stains or paint on the metal making up the ferrules create the texture that reads (to me, at least) as metallic shadows, reflections, and highlights. I love the way you use collage--something applied /atop/ your substrate--to create a background which then optically recedes and pushes your drawn objects forward, apparently above the surface of the collage. Technically masterful, and definitely useful and memorable for future projects. I was amazed (at about 5:38) at the way the Sally Hirst technique apparently broke up the paint /except/ on the transfer image areas. Is that really what happened, or did it just look that way on camera? If the transfer had been a different color than the broken layer, for instance, would it be showing through spots on the lettering? At 16:18, you scalpel an orange circle off the handle of your palette knife. What is that circle? Is it the print of the end of a paint tube? It looks like great collage material, and I'd like to make a number of them. Especially since they have the circular form in common, but appear to be individual and irregular. Finally (I think), the first print, which you refer to as possibly "overcooked," strikes me as basically two separate prints. (Yes, I've said this before, about the pop-art print with the aluminum can on the collaged background.) But in this case, the yellow stroke is a part of both competing images, it seems to me. I think the issue for me is the isolation of the stylistically different, beautiful drawing-plus-collage elements from the equally compelling, dramatic black print of the decorating brush. The isolation is emphasized by the strong, unique, and attention-grabbing yellow and black vertical elements, which serve to divide the two parts of the image. I think the work would be stronger if you had overlapped the yellow and black painted elements with one or both of the other sections, and/or had echoed something from one of the outer two image areas on the other side.
This is so beautiful and inspiring 😮 big wow and thank you! ❤
