Robert Chamberlin that isn't a technical name for it... The technical name for it would either be a title unification fight, or catch-weight fight if they alter the weight limits for it. A superfight is nothing but marketing nonsense.

Possibly the only fighter who could lose ten in a row and my admiration for him wouldn’t change. Such a character and skilled warrior.

I’ve always thought Mousasi would have been UFC champion also. I love Bisping but he would have walked through him. Think he could take Whittaker too. Only difficulties may be with Romero. I really hope the UFC would resign him but I doubt it.

Mousasi has 2 losses to Jacare. So he wouldn't get passed him. Romero would KO him, and the Champ Whittaker would be a good fight. But again I'd favor Whittaker

Gegard is such a nice guy and a true P4P great. !!! If you look at his achievements in Dream,Strikeforce,UFC and now Bellator it his hard to argue that he is not the P4P greatest.An american Mousasi would have been UFC champ for a long time - but instead they gave the belt to average skilled fighters like Weidman,Rockhold,Bisping,St.Pierre, etc. .... Jacare Souza and Gegard Mousasi are by far the best in their weight devision for the last 5 years.

still in his prime and already a legend. lots of good fights for him at 185 even at 205 if he ever fights for the ufc again.

Been a fan since the Dream days and it's crazy how comfortable and funny this dude is now in interviews. Legend.

Before Gegard left he was my pick to eventually have the middleweight belt (before Whittaker's rise), and Rory was my welterweight pick. their elite skill aside, I also like them both as personalities a lot. Now we got an old RDA v. Covington for an interim. These two fighters leaving the UFC really hurt.

Happy_Killmore I agree about Gegard possibly winning it but Rory wasn’t going to get the belt imo. He lost twice to Lawler and took so much damage. He then took a lot of damage to Wonderboy and was no longer in title contention. I don’t think he would have rebounded to a title fight just like Wonderboy won’t be getting one for a long time if at all.

hkballer13 yeah true. My rory memory is still of him as gsps prodigy beating Woodley, but yeah you're right about that. He'd probably be below wonderboy right now, who was also a prodigy who was expected to be holding the belt by now.

Rory just doesn’t look the same after the two wars with lawler. He’s still world class and one of the best but he was just a monster before. He’s still great don’t get me wrong but it seems something is a tad off. Hopefully it all comes back together but he’s definitly been in some wars.

Very true, especially how Woodley completely starched the guy that gave Rory the beating of his life (Lawler) and defend twice against the guy that completely outpointed Rory (Wonderboy). Woodley is a worse matchup for most welterweights and has defended twice - Rory has never held the belt hence Woodley is currently the best WW out there.

Andrew Ortiz read that again. He said Woodley starched Lawler, he then said that he (Woodley) defended twice against Wonderboy. There's nothing to argue.

Gegard should be in the UFC...he wouldn't win the belt, but he might get a title shot.

He was never going to be champ, he spent the last 5 years making it very clear that he was not an A+ fighter. A win streak against Leites Santos and 3 men coming off KO losses is not impressive. Romero and Whittaker are far more proven at the weight class and clearly superior whether you like it or not.

I'll accept that. On another note I do not accept the accusation that the promotion does not like him. He had 12 fights with the UFC and was always either the main event or co main event with one exception. That is despite doing very little to promote himself or become a draw.

So what, Whittaker has been far more impressive than Mousasi at Middleweight and has a better record in the UFC which is what actually matters. Mousasi has never been the number 1 in any weight class at any point in his career.

Benzene Gegard beat him with one eye. Big John agreed with the judges decision. Shlemenko came in strong in the last round but that’s it. Gegard outworked him in the first 2.
