This also reminds us of how dangerous RAAM was, even if Marcus had said Skorge made him look like a pushover. I mean, RAAM just decimated many Gears in his quest to help the Locust claim the surface of Sera, and he even destroyed a city to do it. Plus the fact he could command Kryll as well as just use a massive knife to fight with? That tells you just what kind of monster RAAM was. At least Marcus and Dom finally put him down in the end.

RAAM destroyed MANY cities. Skorge COLLAPSED them. The Rise of RAAM comic book series really showed how much of a badass he is though. Fun fact: both RAAM and Skorge destroyed this city. That's Illima, the city Skorge sinks with the Riftworm in Gears 2 where you get swallowed by that damn creature.

The sad thing is: all of the major characters in this game except for Jace are dead by Gears 3. Well and maybe Dr. Wisen, but he's just a background character. Valera died in this game, Kim and RAAM died in Gears 1, Tai in Gears 2 and Barrick died in the comic series taking place between Gears 1 and 2. Literally everyone but Jace is now dead.

i agree, plus if you look at it from the locust's perspective, the humans arethe bad guys. I mean they are just as gruesome as the locusts in some aspects as well. I hated having to kill them lol, plus RAAM is my favorite character.

@@theta_clips It’s a couple months after E-Day. Tactics is one year after ED, RAAM’s shadow is 9 years after, gears 1 and 2 are 14 years after, 3 is 17 years after, gears 4 and 5 are 42 years after and take place right after one another.

I'vw always wondered.. how can RAAM control Kryll during daytime? One can clearly see that it's still sunny and that they haven't inked the sky well enough yet.

When you play as RAAM in this dlc you place seeders in key point of the city, these all fire nemesis into the air which hinder communication and spread black, ink like gas into the air. The ink serves as fog, blacking out any light and as a result because there are so many, no sunlight can penetrate the ink. This allows RAAM to bring out the kryll as there is no light to burn them. (RAAM Actually planned this whole operation too if i remember correctly)

Kryll themselves don't produce the ink, they just linger in it (i think at least). They can't survive light so the seeders are placed to block out the sky. If the kryll could just make the ink on their own, E-day would've been a lot easier. The entire first phase could've been taken out! (cloud the sky with ink).

RAAM has to be one of the most scary characters from a game and when he kills that guy GOW , with marcus n dom watching it is one the best bits of a baddie attacking a goodie in any game !!! plus fact the assholes so hard to kill end of part 1 adds to his invincibility

The Elites, yeah. We learn more about RAAM in The Rise of RAAM comic book series. All of RAAM's squad are dead though: you kill them during the battle near the Orphanage.

God damn man!! It always gets me when the corpser takes down that APC and drags it into the hole. It's just so damn depressing.

The city in this game is Illima. Its actually the city from Gears of War 2 that's sunk by the Riftworm. You fight through the ruins in Gears 2 before you get swallowed by that damn thing.

You're not alone in this one... I still can't get over her passing even though it benefitted the story. She could have had an amazing storyline about her brother & I am very certain she would have been an important asset to Delta Squad if she was still around... She was a great character. & Definitely could have had so much potential. IMO the developers screwed up on this part because unfortunately we didn't get much of a follow up with Jace in the later games, which was a huge letdown for me.

Let's face it, helmets in the Gears series are just there for decoration (see Anthony Carmine for proof). Clayton Carmine is the only one I can think of that was actually saved by his helmet.

"The COG blew up my house and everything I had!" And if they hadn't, humanity would ALREADY have been wiped out by the Locust. What's more important, your house or your life?"

I hope they do a campaign DLC as well in Gears 4.

tbh I feel like a story DLC about parts of the pendulum war like aspho fields or anvil gate would be great, maybe let us play as a young Hoffman or Adam Fenix, afterall they have 79 years of history to choose from. They already teased that with the prologue. If not the pendulum war then I hope we get to play as the new Carmine :D

Well. It was the only story DLC we could have. I wish, there was more DLC of story events. I would love to do a bonus story of the Defense of Azura. It would be cool to play as a Onyx Guard Unit that died in defense. Also with a Researcher named Nevil, who wanted to be a Gear but couldn't.

The city in this game is Illima. Its actually the city from Gears of War 2 that's sunk by the Riftworm. You fight through the ruins in Gears 2 before you get swallowed by that damn thing.

The sad thing is: all of the major characters in this game except for Jace are dead by Gears 3. Well and maybe Dr. Wisen, but he's just a background character. Valera died in this game, Kim and RAAM died in Gears 1, Tai in Gears 2 and Barrick died in the comic series taking place between Gears 1 and 2. Literally everyone but Jace is now dead.

I have watched a lot of horror movies in my life and so much so that I dont even get scared anymore. But man the part in the starting where you play as Raam got me scared so much that I cannot sleep now.

Does anyone else like the emotional plea Lt. Kim had with the communications officer Walker? I like to think Kim had some sort of friend to confide in. I felt like it helped Kim reveal more of his humanity and slight cognitive dissence about the flaws of the COG?

Kim in the entire dlc is nice to see getting more of a character, risking his team and his own butt to safe the people at the orphanage and seeing how both sad and angry he was when Alissa died

Best gears of war dlc ever made and released to this day showing both sides of the conflict and my boy raam being a beast god I love this series

I'm surprised Raam doesn't have his OWN PERSONAL bodyguards with him.

Im late but, you see that Theron guard elite? Its what its left from his personal army in the rise of raam comics, all the other locust that were his personal guards like 2 other Theron guards, his own corpser and a loot of boomers/grinders die in the war and that Theron was the last of them The why raam dont train more to be his guards probably was because he never thought of needed them or lack of time The why he dont train more to have better soldiers was because of lack of time in the war due to raam going personally to the fights, and in one of the comics you learn that Raam train the mayority of the palace guards of gears 2 and 3 (the Golden therons) Sorry for the bad english

The first time I played Gears of Wars is when I was 8, I never had any regrets playing this.

If you meant the Carmine family, its a running joke that all of them "Arent good at surviving", thus getting killed at some point in the game they appear Anthonys description in the first GoW said something like "He was selected as 'The one most likely to get shot' in the academy' "

They should make a gears of war game but it's more about kim. Like him and raam. I think it would be awsome too see them encounter each other again. Way before kim died. But maybe when RAAM was a theron guard. But a badass one. Of course. Just to show how RAAM maybe hated kim and how much kim hated RAAM. It would make even more sense because he looks into the eyes of a monster that he has seen and encountered more than once. Before kim gets stabbed this goes to the classic one not the remastered of gears of war 1.
