GE said they oversized the heat pump knowing families will max it out. Lol. So true. FYI, the GE heat pump is twice the size of the LG model.

We've had ours for about two months now and have been very pleased thus far. As for the height off the floor/short OEM pedestal issue, before ours was delivered we purchased a rolling appliance base from Amazon for about $55 and had the machine placed on the base by the delivery men. The combo machine weighs 300 pounds, so it is much more difficult to move than a separate washing machine and dryer. Now, we can easily roll it in and out of its normal location (you know, to find the sock that's been trying to escape) and while it's being used, we can lock the wheels and lower the adjustable feet on the base (which also has built-in bubble levels on each side). Plus, the rolling base lifts the unit far enough off the floor to enable placing a small bowl or food storage container under the lower filter door to catch the water that pours out when you first remove it. Just be sure you purchase the base that adjusts between 27.5 and 35.4 inches per side, as the machine itself is about 29 inches wide at the base. According to the seller, the base can hold up to 1100 pounds, well in excess of the machine's weight.

It's an excellent machine I bought it watching your reviews and a couple others. Love it! I didn't want to pay the extra for the pedestal either but I used 8 inch cinder blocks. the machine does not jump around and if you don't want the look of the cinder blocks you can paint them. Perfect for draining the clean out and they are cheap... Thanks for your video... Cute pup in the reflection

Question: I see you have a bottle of the downy unstoppables pellets (love those things) is there any special way you have to use those with this machine? or is it still just "sprinkle some in before you close the door" kinda thing. Didn't know with all the special dispenses if there was something different done with this machine. Thanks and good info in your video! highly considering buying one of these.

Great looking unit. For bigger families, you could put 2 of them where there used to be a washer & dryer and it'd really save some time. I'm not quite sold on the technology yet. I would love to see a 3 or a 5-year review. For me, it appears there's too much required maintenance compared to a typical washer and dryer and I don't believe they will have the average lifespan of a traditional front loader.

Started 20 years ago in my ventless condo with a small, European-sized combo, which was painful. Them graduated to the large LG combo which is much, much better but still has some deficiencies. This will be a step up to bring back to laundry taking the time it did in my childhood! Thanks GE. And, it's efficient, which is likely better for the environment. I'm woke! 🤪🙃🥴 And, while I love Korea and LG products, I'm very happy to buy an American brand.

I wanted to let you know that the filter on the bottom of the unit should be able to be drained before you open the filter. I literally just found this out about my Samsung washer. There should be a small hose. You unplug the hose and drain the water into a bowl or dish, and then once it's done draining, you can open the filter. A little water might come out, but it should gush out like you mentioned. Like I said, my Samsung washer has that same filter on the bottom that is supposed to be cleaned once a month. I hope that helps you! Live the video, btw. Wish I had known these were a thing before I had bought my washer and dryer lmfao.

Function, Drain All Water: Is there a setting that will drain all existing water in the loop (machine/pump). If this function exists, this will help prepare for freezing temperatures coupled with power outages/transport/storage. Freezing Temperatures: More often, we are seeing freezing temperatures for an extended period of time, coupled with power outages = frozen pipes (and by proxy water filled loops/machines). Winterize: It would be nice to be able to fully winterize this unit prior to the arrival of the arctic fronts we are seeing more of these days. Great review and follow up, very much appreciated.

Seems he wrote a paper about these machines in class but had never seen one. Anyway....I can't get the fabric softener to work. I have FS in both the Auto and the Manual dispense cups because I didn't think it was working. The amount in the cups has remained the same after multiple washings. I have adjusted the Smart-Dispense Selection from Low to High, turned it off, and turned it on. Nothing happens. What am I doing wrong? Is there a plug in the back of the dispense cup that I am supposed to remove or something? I have read the manual over and over.....

I've had mine since late June and I like the machine but I do have a major concern with how the lint filter works. I clean my lint filter after every load and I'm a very light user. I get quite a bit of lint on my filter after each use. But here's my problem. I noticed I'm getting a good amount of lint that's making its way to the condenser coil on the upper right corner. Thankfully I can reach my hand in that area because its right there at the front. One of my buddies that has this same machine also reports the same exact issue. He's getting lint on the condenser in the same area as mine. I like my machine but it seems like the more care I'm giving it the more possible gremlins keep coming out. Nothing I can do now because I obviously own it and I can't return it after having it since June. But as much as I enjoy the unit, I don't think I would do it again knowing what I now know. The machine seems like it has several things that are going against it in term of things that can and probably will shorten its life span.

That's the same concern with this type of product that I have. There should never be contamination of the heat pump elements, never ever. Unit causes serious hammer when cycles start up. This will eventually break the fittings on you pipes and may causes a leak or flood. GE is no help at all and will refer to a third party vendor who are unfamiliar with this product because it is so new to the market. Also be aware that the spin cycles will cause the unit to shake badly if there is a large load like towels. The unit also does not discharge all the bleach if you add to a specific cycle. This leaves bleach in the dispenser so if your doing colors after whites keep your fingers crossed that your colored cloths do not get bleach dispensed on the load.

We have this combo, and from the start it has made a loud rapping noise during the spin cycle. None of the fixes in the manual to deal with noise work, and with the laundry door closed it sounds like there is a jackhammer in there from the rest of the house. Two different techs have been out to look at it, and (though they have very little experience with this unit) they both agreed that the noise is abnormal. GE Appliances headquarters, however, said that as long as it is washing and drying clothes, they will do nothing about the noise it is making. This was after we sent them a video showing how bad it is. When I called the customer support line to talk about this issue, they promised that a customer care rep would call me back in a few minutes. That was 4 days ago, and still no call. One might expect that they are hoping that whatever is wrong inside the machine won't become a major issue until the warranty runs out. I have registered a complaint with the BBB, which they have accepted and delivered to GE Appliances in Kentucky.

I wonder if whoever installed your machine forgot to take the shipping bolts out. That's a pretty common mistake people make when installing front loaders, and running a machine with the bolts in place will cause it to make a lot of racket.

My wife and I were considering a heat pump combo unit. Anyone able to say if the spin cycle is harsher or softer than a typical front loader? Looking to place it on the 2nd floor of a 100 year old home, and never felt comfortable with a front loader pair shaking so close to the roof and older joists that would be very loud.

The main Problem is the the ventless. If they made it with an actual vent, it would work. It never dries the load completely and it takes foreeever, plus the filter gets cloged alllll the time. There is a reason why this doesn't sell

  • @Bakeman3000

    @Bakeman3000

Granted yes... Ventless is not ideal by any means.... for some people.. it's the only way to go. I live in a condo that was built in 1982... my unit is closed in on all sides by other units. I do NOT have a vent for a dyer.. the previous owner had it just venting into the laundry closet... that is soo bad.. it can easily cause mold. Not to mention, when I used the dryer they left behind, it caused the humidity in the condo to go up almost 20%... the temp go up about 4-5 degrees in the hallway. It's just not safe to have a regular vented dryer in a situation like that. So Ventless is the only way to go. I have a small 4.2 or 4 cu ft ventless dryer and works. It does take twice as long to dry, which is a bummer, but it works.

Yes, I always leave my door open after doing a load for a day or two. The seal is water tight, so it seals water both ways; between the drum and seal and between the seal and the door. Just running a dry cycle on its own won't dry it.

Unfortunately, my experience has been bad. Bought the combo 8 months ago and I'm on my 5th technician visit. The major repairs have involved a motherboard replacement due to the machine going dead. Next, the entire heat pump assembly failed. The product is so new the technicians have never seen it or been trained on it. Keep in mind, the 10 year limited warranty only covers the motor. There is only a 1 year warranty on the rest of the parts such as the motherboard and heat pump.

Clothes are wetter than normal. Its louder than normal. Tech said most codes referred to an overheating inverter. We've ran around 900 cycles since June while it was running perfectly.

I bought mine last July, and I absolutely HATE IT. The dryer does not work very well, it never gets laundry dry, always leaves it damp and horribly wrinkled, even after another dry cycle. Doesn’t matter if it's on sensor or timed dry. Static electricity in clothing is AWFUL! Machine always dumps at least a cup of water on clothing when you open the door. Every single time. So much for dry clothes 😡. We have dogs, so lots of pet hair. A SMALL quarter sized lump of hair in the pump drain stopped the maching from working. I still don't understand that one. If we hadn't paid so much for this piece of crap, I would haul it to the nearest garbage dump so it would be where it belongs! Worst purchase ever! Great idea, but the product does NOT live up to the hype.
