Thank you man, mine shut off mid cycle same model. Checked breaker, it wouldn't start if I pushed it so I will check voltage and hopefully it's not something worse 👍

We have one of the stackable units where it’s all one unit. Dryer on top washer on the bottom. It was brand new just delivered. We just tried to put something in the dryer for the first time and you have to keep the start button pressed for it to work. Nothing can be wore out or any of that it’s brand spanking new

Awesome! This was helpful, but I was doing more and ended up removing the ground from inside - where is the ground connected inside the back? I know where on the back panel, but there isn't a mark on the inside for ground

I have this same dryer. I cycles through the heat cycles and stops. sometimes it will complete a cycle sometime it wont.

Hello, I have an older model of this dryer it looks like. It has no screen, just the start button and the knobs on it. I have the exact same problem. Dryer runs while im holding start and the drum spins, but as soon as i let off it stops. Is that a start button problem? I just bought this dryer brand new a few months ago

Hey man! I took my top off and pulled a wire out. Not sure where it goes exactly…it’s the small yellow/green wire. Does it just attach in the same Crimp as the big green/yellow down in the hole? Thanks

Took mine apart thinking something was wrong internally nothing seemed fine put it back together cause it wasn’t turning on my uncle found out it was the outlet wire going to the box so he replaced it and finally turned on now it works fine just isn’t heating, did I maybe brake something thanks in advance

I have this same dryer but mine will only turn on if I rotate the dial and occasionally won’t start, it also will turn the extended cycle on and off the whole time it is drying

Hello ! My GE dryer (GTD65EBMK0DG) doesn't turn on. No light on when you open the door and nothing on the board when pushing the power button as if there was no electricity. It is plugged in, the house breaker is on, and there is electricity through the 240v outlet. Do you think It could be the main board that could be the problem ?

GE GTD45EASJ2WS this model have not a control board. Any ideas what the issue could be? I changed the switch but still have the issue. A great and helpful video, by the way! Thank you.

Oddly mine was doing this and I unplugged it for 30 seconds and let it reset. Plugged it back in and boom! Works fine now 🤷‍♂️

I wonder how long it work after that. Mine started changing from one temperature to another one, every couple of seconds changing the drying time with it. I unplugged it for sometime but it kept doing it. I was able to used it for about a week on the "timed dry" setting. I just replaced the WE22X31717 part and it seems to be working fine. Good Luck.

It has power but when I pressed start it makes a click noise. What you think they could be.

Nice camera footage....what kind of camera and mount do you use ? Its nice to document what you did on a job....just to prove that you did it....plumbers, electricians, or any trade for that matter could benefit from a camera i would think...

That is a good idea especially if they are not there. I use a GoPro 8 and just a head mount. I’ll link it in the description later if you want to pick one up and use it. I used to use a Tactacam and found out the quality of the go pro is much better. Different angle between the two though. I’m still getting used to the GoPro head mounted angle.

I have this same dryer. Yesterday when I hit start, it says “drying” but it’s not spinning or making noise or drying or anything, it’s just light up. Any idea how to fix it? I’ve unplugged it and tried flicking the breaker and no luck. Thanks for the great video!

Nope cash call. I do recommend to folks get an extended warranty on washing machines and refrigerators now a days. You never know what can happen to them in the early years.

Oh man now if you can use this same dryer and show how to replace the door switch that be awesome! Its different from all others.. the switch has a silver metal guard and the wires are connect together with a wire connector (i think its called... those pinch and pull thing lol) 2 hours later it will not come off!!

I’ve never had to replace a door switch on a GE dryer believe it or not lol. It’s usually something else causing the issue. So I have no experience even changing out a normal one. Sorry I’m no help but don’t give up. There is a way to get it off lol

Ok so I have this exact dryer. My issue is the digital display will not light up, and all the buttons do nothing....EXCEPT, when I push the start pause button, it works, just nothing lighting up.. anyone have any thoughts on what I can do?

Hello. We have the same model dryer and suddenly it stopped working and when hitting the power button, nothing is happening even if we hold it down. I went to move the unit and touched the top back of it and go shocked. The breaker did not trip and sometimes when unplugging and plugging back in it powers up for a second or two and then shuts off. I'd imagine this is a grounding issue given the shock and the age of my dryer outlet (house was built in the mid 50's). Any suggestions on what to dive into first? Replace the electrical outlet or is there something internal with the unit itself that is possibly causing this? Thank you!

Oh man! I have been there. Check the plug and make sure it wired right. You neutral or ground may be wired “hot” or the power cord was installed wrong. I have been to new built homes and find that they wire L2 to neutral and it will seem like it’s working sometimes too. I can’t tell you how but it somehow does in sine models.

That is what I would check first yes. That’s usually the cause of it not running or looking like a dead control. Start there yes.

Ok, thank you very much. Was second guessing myself because I figured the display would show an error message at least. Already have the thermal switch off and tested and it has no continuity, was going to bypass switch just to test it, but would rather not go that route lol. Thank you thank you thank you!!!

look into the heating element and fuses around it. Should be one of those. All GE dryers I have see the insides are pretty much identical. Pick any GE dryer no heat video off of KZread and it should be helpful.

How do you access the thermal fuse on this? I've tried to find information everywhere 😪

I went from the front, and took it all the way apart. There's a how to video I just saw little bit ago. Step by step on getting it apart the easiest way. I had to unborn the heating element to be able to get to the screws holding the switches in

200-300. Bottom line is GE is making a killing off of people replacing parts on brand new dryers (or when it goes out days after 1 year warranty expires). No one should have to pay that! Stupid GE

The GE older analog models seem to last a lot longer. I have this same exact GE dryer with the same issue, only 2 years old and the lights are flickering and it would start only on certain modes, I thought it was lint buildup. I was wondering about the thermal sensor too like the other person below commented. Do you have a part number for this control board? Thank you very much for posting this, very appreciated 🙏🏻👍🏻

I don’t like to link these just in case you have a different version which uses a different board. Try your local appliance parts dealer. Actually you can find it here www.geappliances.com/ge/parts/ That will take you to GE’s website just put in your model number and you can find the breakdown to find the part. You can actually purchase from them too.

Get the part number from here: www.geappliances.com/ge/parts/ but do your homework searching for a better price. I bought it from www.partsdr.com about $60 less, plus only paid $10 for shipping and got it in two days. I am so upset with GE. I will never buy an appliance from them. The dryer is a little bit over two years old and already broken. My part didn't came with the instructions and I almost went crazy when I saw all those lights jumping. Thanks to this video I was able to reset the dryer. Thank you Bearded appliance repair!

Hey Mike, I'm actually having the exact problem you did. It started off with it just randomly scrolling through the modes so i unplugged it for 24 hrs and it stopped doing that. However, now when I spin the knob, only like half modes are selectable. What solution did you find worked for you? Did you get the board and replace it? did it help? Thanks in advance!

Thermal fuse. It is near the element. Check that first. Try googling Ge dryer thermal fuse and that should point you in the right direction.

These GE's tend to get broken belts that will make it do that. Does yours start when you hold start? or no? If no i would say you probably need a belt. Take it apart and see if the belt broke.

Likely it is a door switch issue or thermal fuse. That is more common than a board replacement. This is the only board I have replaced on a Ge dryer. 1 out of probably 60 elements rarely go bad too. Check the belt as well. That is probably the most common issue with these dryers

Look up the use and care guide. Google ge use and care manuals. Find the ge website and search by the model number. The use and care manual will tell you everything you need to know about the dryer. How to use and and care for it. I recommend everyone ti read the manuals when getting any new machines.

I have the same dryer, it was working fine for about 4 months, then one day it just wouldn't turn on. I checked power from the breaker to receptacle, the chord is good, have power going to all the relays on control board. But I have no light, door switch is good, and it won't even light up or turn on when I push the power button. And I have held the power button down, still nothin

Make sure you check the thermal fuse on these. That may be your issue. If that is good you may need a relay board or user interface. Not sure how to figure out which one you truly need though. I wish you luck though!

Hahah it won’t stop. Potential fire hazard. You may find it tricky to get tape to hold it down too.

Years ago, I had a dryer that would not reliably turn off, so I always had to turn circuit breaker off after using it. It also had to be "jump started" each time by taping door sensor down and moving the drum while hitting the start button, and hopefully not having half of the clothes fall out while trying to get the door shut. Good times. But it worked for a LONG time, we only replaced it eventually because we were selling house and nobody wants to buy house with a potentially dangerous dryer.

230$ for control board can buy a new dryer for 500$ lol

This is ridiculous. A brand new dryer shouldn’t need a $300 control board replaced that soon. What has happened to GE??

This video is absolutely no help at all because I have almost a 40 year old dryer with no digital stuff therefore no circuit board. I can push and hold the start button which is on the timer and everything starts and heat just fine. But now I'm wonder if it is the start on my timer? But I don't know how to check it.

I ran into one recently on one with a timer. See if your belt is broke or not. Similar issue with a broke belt. You will hear it run and heat with the start button held down but when you let go it stops. When i got into it, we found a bad belt and replaced it and she worked like she was supposed too.

@@BeardedApplianceRepair When I held the start button down everything worked normally. But I didn't want to hold it down and maybe burn something up. My dryer is really old, vintage like but I'm waiting on a lint brush that I ordered, to clean out the vent pipe and under the filter as well as the stuff going to the outside outside of house. I felt something weird in this weird dryer that caught me off guard and it is part of the vent. I didn't see a critical build up of lint but I wonder about this slotted part where I can see there would be a serious problem with lint. First thing I thought was WTF. I'm really hoping it is just a lint problem since I couldn't find any problems anywhere. I've just been very frustrated with this thing because I can't find any problems and I ran tests on the timer and starter too finally using the schematic. So what's left is lint build up in some unexpected place in the venting.

That weird thing was the blower. I can turn it by hand though I can't see it and it felt like the belt was in tack.
