You’re welcome. It’s aggravating to buy a high end fridge and then get poor performance. No recourse with GE, so I’m helping others avoid the same problem.

Thank you my friend yes this video was extremely helpful we purchased our cafe GE fridge back in 2022 it's a matte black that's why we bought it because it looks good but performance-wise has been quite sad ours has a pretty loud humming sound. Not to mention the ice dispenser does work but it fails to keep up. And I don't know why the ice dispenser.

I can hear mine in the living room,the old fridge I didn’t notice when the compressor was on this one makes humming noise and even with my compromise hearing I can still hear it I wonder if other people have the same concern

Appliance repair tech reporting in for duty. When I see these fridges on service calls it's usually for the fridges EVAP fan failure. What you will notice when this happens is a loud noise that's stops when you open the door. The fan is cheap enough and if you are even slightly handy you can Google how to swap it out. Usually happens around year 4-5

Almost got this today. So glad I saw your video. I wonder if the hot water feature is releasing steam near the ice? Thanks for the video.

That could be it. The water dispenser is just below the ice maker.

We've been very happy with our unit for the last 7 years or so. But, we never use the hot water dispenser, since we have an instant-hot unit at our sink, so I can't comment on how it might affect the ice maker.

Thx for the review Jim. I have almost the identical fridge. We inherited it when we purchased our home in Sept of 2018. Within 3 months we had water start running across floor. A 0.29 cent rubber drain got blocked. Today my repair man had to change fan motor. He said GE had major issues with these fans and they are now on their 5th series of this motor. I call mine a $3000 piece of junk. Model CYE22TSHJSS

Hi Larry. Sorry for the issues with your refrigerator. We've had ours for around 7 years now and it has been very good to us. A few days ago, my wife noticed the freezer was not maintaining temperature, so I cleaned off a very dirty condenser (in the lower, rear of the fridge) and noticed the small condenser fan was not working. (We have two dogs and the condenser had a lot of fur/dust packed on it. I'm sure the stopped up condenser put too much strain on the fan..) I ordered a new fan on Amazon for $98 bucks and while I was waiting for it, just put a small desk fan behind the refrigerator, which dropped the freezer temp back to normal until I could install the replacement. The replacement was easy as punch to install. It is simply a small unit, very similar to fans found in computers. Total cost of the repair was a little time and $98.

You can get filter at lowes. What about water dripping behind ice maker

I haven’t had any water dripping. What did you pay for the filter at Lowes?

Our Samsung is on its last leg after 11 years. Freezer stopped working and now only keeps things cool like the fridge. Going with a GE side by side

I have the chance to buy this thing for $800, used. It looks in excellent conditions and is being sold by a refrigerator store! Thoughts?

I can't take the drawers out of my fridge. Do your drawers come out all the way for cleaning?

Hi Liz, you need to pull the fridge out from the cabinets so the doors open completely, then the drawers will come out. It’s hard to pull out. I’m 6’7” 240lbs and it took significant effort to get it rolled out.

I just tried again and was able to get the right veg drawer out and the bottom drawer but could not get the left veg drawer out. I can’t figure out how to open the left door more. Another design flaw of this fridge. We are so aggravated with it, we may sell it and go back to a Samsung.

Wished I watched this before throwing money away on the same refrigerator. Filter is filthy! Water and ice has black residue. Been draining out gallons of water to see if it’ll go away but still black stuff in it.

Devonna, After you change the water filter, you must run a pitcher or two of water out to flush the filter. The filter is made of activated charcoal. When you flush it, the black residue (which is charcoal) will go away.

We bought a 32 inch GE Cafe refrigerator. It’s soooooo noisy. Driving us all crazy. It’s going back.

Seem like there's more complaining about small inconveniences versus something wrong with it you spilled something in there you didn't clean it up right away like any other fridge that would happen and take that shelf out the drawers out and clean it you're not taking it apart the fridge I don't take this as a unbiased review

Hi Thomas, I would have wiped it up right away, but the spill seeped under the glass immediately. Now I have to take the shelf apart to clean it. I think this is a significant design flaw. My review is honest.

Is a very big problem. The door does not open all the way, like on old fridges is very difficult to get the shelves and drawers out of the refrigerator. It’s almost like performing impossible task. You can just take one you have to take almost all of them out to get to the one you want.

Fyi the wayer thru the door of any refrigerator is simply tap water....it isnt stored and cooled in the fridge.

Some fridges loop the water line around the inside of the fridge to cool it.

My old fridge did that There was long tube coiled inside for cooling water. This one does not have that feature.
