@@ApartmentMaintenancePro This was awesome advice.. I pulled out the burner and gently cleaned the pad and the probes with steel wool. Worked a treat. It's been almost a week and it had not tripped since (previously it was happening once per day). Thanks again for a truly informative and helpful video!

Nooo!!!! Don’t brush the ignitor with steel wool! Leave that baby alone. It’s just the flame sensor that needs cleaning.

Hate to be the dummy here but which one is the igniter and which one is the flame sensor?

@@kelseyferguson9922In this video the flame sensor is the curved bit. The igniter is the straight nitride rod.

My Water heater has the same electronic reader and the heater is going off and failing to ignite multiple times and going on lockout mode all day, should I be worried something catastrophic is going to happen or such ?

Same issue with mine going ok into vacation mode and HVAC tech said it's due to high city water pressure. Can you explain to me how that's related to the ignition sensor?

I have this exact issue, and I've done all of the above steps that you did. GE is completely useless in terms of helping. Gas is turned on, and yes the bills have been paid lol. When I try to restart it the igniter lights up just fine but I never get a flame. Please for the love of god help, because the internet seems to be failing me on this one lol. Bad flame sensor? I'm having an EXTREMELY difficult time even finding a replacement part for it. My burner/igniter assembly is identical to the one you have in the video.

Is this for the intellivent gas valve? Either way if you have an igniter getting red it’s probably not the ignitor it’s most likely gas flow.

@@ApartmentMaintenancePro Yes it's for the intellivent. I'm not sure what would be limiting the gas flow at this point unless it's the intellivent module itself. Any way that you know of to test that theory?

So what it was just dirty? Because that code says maximum number of ignition attempts led to lock out

Mine will ignite and there’s flames but then the flame goes out like 3-4 seconds later

Unplug for a minute and plug back in if that doesn’t work replace gas valve

What to do for error code 11 for this tank?

did not show us the error codes. trying to learn

Your plumber is an idiot... Unless it is really old pretty much the only time you replace a tank is when it's leaking. Source: Me owning a plumbing company that doesn't rip people off.

This guy is not a professional. You never want to clean the ignitor or touch it. You also need to soap test any and all gas line you disconnect. Clean the burner itself serves no purpose. Just knock off debris.
