My Kenmore gas oven made a click then popped the breaker. After that it won't heat up. I changed out the igniter but the new igniter won't light either. Any thoughts?

hi good afternoon... someone gave me a whirlpool gas stove . they told me the oven won't light so I changed the igniter and still won't light I changed the gas valve and still won't light.. can you help me please.what else should I do.

Did you figure it out?

I used my kenmore oven today. took the turkey out and then tried to light it for baking a pie and the igniter won't glow at all. Its a square igniter. Anybody tell me what I can check? Is it the igniter?

MANY different variations of kenmore stoves, but usually held in by 2 1/4" hex head screws under the removeable bottom inside oven.

I replaced the oven ignitor, it doesn't glow. The burners work and so does the broiler.

Thank you. You will need to test for power going to the igniter when you set it to bake, if you aren't getting power at the igniter check your wiring for damage, if the wiring is good then you will need to replace the control board.

@appliancepartspros I did an amp probe with one of the leads of the igniter and I had no amp draw .

You will need to test for power going to the igniter, you should have 120 volts when you set it to bake.

ive seen MANY cases wheras mice have chewed thru one of the wires to the igniter

Top burners work, broiler works, oven igniter glows well but won't start. I can smell gas so idk

Do you happen to have an amp meter that you can test the igniter? You could be having an issue with the ignitor or a issue with the safety valve.

I have the same problem. I also Thad the problem 18 months ago or so. I replaced the igniter and it worked fine for 1.5 years, now it’s back to doing the same thing. A work around for me has been to put the oven on broil until the temp is 3-400 degrees and then switch to bake. It seems to light then. Also, after self cleaning the oven went back to working normally for a week or so.

The broiler works but nut the oven
