Gas leak fixed!

The bad gas line has been replaced, and I'm one step closer to being able to get my generator up and running!

Great that it didn't require any more demo than that! In my universe, once all that was endured and paid, there would never be a need for the generator...

And I just took advantage of the holes in the ceiling to run some network cables, so there was a minor side benefit.

Way to lean into it, take advantage of the opportunity the problem presented.

I'm surprised you didn't just DIY with CSST. The only tricky part is ensuring it's bonded to your electrical ground.

The fact that I don't know what CSST is may lessen your surprise. I'm confident I could watch a couple of KZread videos and know all I need to know, but for a gas line, I prefer to leave it to the professionals. It also lessons the possibility that, when they come back next week with the inspector, he points out something I didn't know about and I have to start all over.

    No update on the generator?

There isn't too much to say. It's hooked up but of course we haven't had any power outages now that it's installed. What would you like to see in a followup video?

@@ChrisMasto I'd like to hear how loud the generator is, maybe hear your logic on sizing, and anything else that you could share... Of course, if you've had an power-outage it would be interesting to hear your thoughts. Also, since it has been almost a year, what maintenance is needed- if any?

@@ChrisMasto Had a 20kw air cooled unit on our last house, was SOOOOO nice knowing it was there and ready to take over. House before that we had a nice 5-6 days long outage that was not pleasant. I ended up using a 1500w inverter to run our fridge off my car battery, and it worked quite well actually! Kept our food safe at least. Had easy access to wiring right above the fridge in the compressor compartment. All the electric company crews left Ohio and went down south to Texas area when ice storms came thru there, well....things hit us and they weren't here to do the work up here for 4-5 days... Combine the generator with some battery backup units to handle the cut-over and you can stay online, keep cable TV going etc w/no interruptions. Now, in larger house with 400A service and will be getting a quote for a 40-48kw liquid cooled model... Hope yours is working out well!

@@ChrisEpler Nice! Mine's working out well, if you count not having had to use it yet. 🙂

@@ChrisMasto If you can, maybe just a system overview, transfer switch operation, generator startup/running (noise), is the generator network connected and can you monitor parameters remotely? Thanks!

Good idea. I forgot that I didn't really post anything after it was connected. I covered most of the system in kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZHZq0daag7mndNo.html but not in operation.
