Gary Payton II Has Mastered The Art Of Playing Freely

Спорт

That was an ugly ass game, on the second night of a back-to-back, both Charlotte and Golden State couldn’t find the net much, but it was the return of Gary Payton II that I wanted to focus on today. GP2 was able to finish tic-tac-toe plays and make defensive adjustments that sparked Warriors buckets, so let’s break down his return.

I been showing love to GP2 since he was a Santa Cruz Warrior. The fact he came off a G-League chip & got some scheme time in with the Dubs late that year where they lost to Memphis before they went to win a chip. I knew he needed to be a part of this team: Culture fit, roster fit, mentality fit plus he’s from the Bay with that grind mentality doing all the little things to get wins.

@@warriorsbreakdown The SF Giants would later win, but it was despite of Zito / Rowand signings. And, the Ws were coming off the Maggette signing and then huge contract for David Lee. I was like WTF are we doing. David Lee? I vaguely remember Lee favoring the left block on post-ups, but could be imagining it. TJD still has a slight advantage now. People don't realize he's left handed at times. (I should remember Biedrins awful free throw shooting, but I don't.)

Can we get some REALISTIC STATS! Plus/minus is almost worthless. Jordan Poole could ruin your plus/minus (one poor defender). To site a player's points per game is almost worthless!!!! Of course it depends on HOW MANY MINUTES THAT PLAYER HAD! For example, look at the offense of TJD PER MINUTE!! A good offensive number is a player that scores half as many points as mins. In other words, a player scoring 15 points in 30 mins is producing well. TDJ often does better than that!!! Forget =/-!! How about taking the number of points, plus rebounds, plus assists, plus blocks, MINUS fouls, minus turnovers, minus half of missed shots (rounded down) -- divided by minutes??? THAT'S A NUMBER! Anything at 50% or better is excellent. The numbers for the for Warriors vs. Wizards were higher than normal. Moody 63% JK 103% Dray 50% Podz 46% Curry 68% Klay 92% GP2 105% Looney 1% CP3 90% TJD 87% and Saric 7%

honestly, they should shift and widen gp2 roles into an iggy type coaching role. So they are using his vision better on the D. The D coach for the warriors is the weakest link right now which hurts the hell out of the offense. Without dray it's not workable. which means the most important part of the warriors play is running down the other team making them tired on offense and defense. which has hurt the hell out of the warriors. I'm not even sure why they are keeping this D coach. He's a freakin joke.

@@warriorsbreakdown I said he's not that important, not very important. Yes I remember 2022 playoffs. And I remember last year. Do you? Gp2 is just not around enough to make a significant contribution. He's limited by his easily injured body. Not his fault, but it renders him just not very important to the team because he's just not available much. He is healthy now, but in a week or 3 he will pull or strain something and be on the injury list for a month or more. That's just his reality. Maybe we'll get lucky and he will be healthy for the playoffs. It's a crap shoot with him, but obviously the odds are not in our favor.
