Love your videos. I would suggest on certain areas I recommend doing a Text overlay on the video. e.g. When you talk about the Venu 3 & have it in your hand.. You're talking - so fast (which I understand), but some people won't catch the - different all the sudden watch. Just a thought is all, I notice I've had to rewind your videos before to make sure I caught what you said. Don't change, everyone has a different ascent & I completely understand why you talk fast as well - due to time on vid etc.. Thx again & appreciate your in depth knowledge.

I just got a vivoactive 5 Sunday. It's my first ever Fitness Watch. So far I love it!!! It's got everything I was looking for in a Watch. I don't need to make phone calls from a Watch because I'm literally never without my cell phone. So the smart watch features Apple watch and Samsung watches have I don't need. This watch is perfect for me. 😃

Great video as always! So let's see if I understand what Garmin is doing: VA5 looks like Venu2 (not Venu2 plus) hardware with a bunch (but not all) of the Venu3 software features. Basically for the same price as a current Venu2. Hmmm. I've had a Venu2 for 2 years (love it) and was waiting to see if Garmin would add some of the Venu3 software features. I think this release pretty much means no. Garnin's product fragmentation is truly bewildering.

Great review. I had the vivo active 3 and loved it (lost when the strap came undone and the watch slipped off unnoticed never to be seen again). I use an apple watch 6 which is brilliant for functionality. I get about 2.5 days with my apple watch 6, using that with my android phone (works brilliant for my purposes). However, I like the look of the vivo active 5 and I have a soft spot for Garmin. Couple of questions : 1) Does it support Apple music (I use Apple music on my android phone, it's streets ahead of Spotify for audio quality). 2) Does it sync with Microsoft to do (which I use on my Apple watch and android phone). 3) A nice to have: does it have a boxing mode, to measure number of arm movements.

What's your verdict? I do the same blend of mostly HIIT and running, so I'm wondering if I should go with a cheaper vivomove sport since I don't really need all of these extra exercise profiles (e.g. golf, volleyball, etc). I also feel like I'd rather use my phone for the analytics as opposed to navigating so much on the watch itself.

Thanks for the review. Personally, I despise Garmin releasing a separate watch for any feature combination (Venu 2, Venu 2 Sq, Venu 3, Vivoactive 5, Forerunner 265, Venu 3 Sq?). Those watches are much too similar IMHO. Makes me really appreciate Coros mindset of releasing a 250 Euro watch with the most important features. How many watches does Garmin have in the 200 to 400 Euro price range? I had friends (and myself) ending up with unhappy surprises, like the Venu 2 not supporting continuous HRV measurement while the Instinct 2 does, and not supporting suggested workout while even the budget Forerunner 55 does.

Plan to get myself my very first SmartWatch, was looking for a watch that can: 1. Handle notification, message, and phone call, 2. Stylist 3. Sport Tracking (swim, hike, walk) 4. touchscreen 5. GPS 6,.Sleep/Nap Tracking 7. and most importantly long battery life. (Which almost all SW out there lack of) Venu3 got every boxes ticked. But the further I dig into it, the more I get confuse about Garmin lineup. First is the similarity of 265 and Venu3, now is vivoactive5. I mean I did see their differences, but I just can't accept the similarity of all these watches with diff price tag/ similarity in price tag with diff features Maybe next time Garmin. I will stick to fitness band for now.

What I find strange is the fast publishing of the Vivoactive 5 after the Venu 3, like 2 weeks later. Why not at the same time or some months later? People who have bought the Venu 3 could also be just satisfied with the Vivoactive 5.

I've not yet owned a smartwatch/fitness tracker, and I am looking for one that has a good hear rate monitor for around or max £200. Not really interested the device to receive calls/text or music. Happy for it to be just a watch & fitness tracker. Thanks.

My worst fears for the Vivoactive 5 :( it has AMOLED :'( sad to see when a company does not listen to their customers. The most appealing feature from the Garmin watches compared to the iWatch (or whatever you call it) was the Transflecive Display and over 8 days of Battery. but now with the AMOLED screens they have no better battery life than any other watch 3 days at most.
