Garmin Skin Temperature Tracking: Everything to Know!

Спорт

Here's everything you need to know about Garmin skin temperature tracking/sensing in one quick post, plus a bunch of other new features!
Garmin has begun rolling out wrist temperature tracking to watches with the newer Garmin ELEVATE V5 optical heart rate sensor in them, which includes the Garmin Epix Pro, Fenix 7 Pro, Tactix 7 AMOLED, and Venu 3 series. Those are the same watches that recently got ECG capabilities via this new sensor hardware (ELEVATE V5 sensors).

Awesome video! My favorite part? "We keep our house really cold in the winter because it cost too much to turn the heat up in the winter" - you are my hero of genuineness. Doubles the subscriber following in two years but still doesn't waste money on excess things!

I had a housemate who was adamant about lowering the heat. He gave up after I pointed out that if we just SHUT the heat for two weeks, we'd save enough to stay warm all winter. It wouldn't have bothered me, I had serious winter gear.

Haha...yeah, things got incredibly expensive last winter for heating (radiators using gas). Mind-boggling expensive. The rates are a lot lower this winter, but I haven't bothered to change all the smarthome automation routes/systems I put in place (which halved our bill last winter, literally overnight). As Des can attest the last few weeks, it's a weeee bit chilly in the house.

I would add that Oura uses the temperature readings to determine if you’re potentially sick. I’ve often received the “are you feeling okay? You might want to turn on rest mode because your body temperature was elevated last night” kind of prompt from Oura and it’s usually if I am sick or starting to get sick.

It's an interesting strategy... I wonder how many people decide to upgrade watch because of this sort of update, rather than waiting for the next watch. For example, I didn't feel the Fenix 7 was worth it over a 6 at launch, but I find myself thinking about it now rather than waiting for the 8.

Some time after the FR 965 came out, and it happens again and again, that the FR 945 gets neglected, as if its almost "the forgotten watch" in the FR series. I'm old and I train quite a bit, a nap tracker would be REALLY helpful. But alas, I have an old 735xt and it doesn't get any of these updates. Or any updates. You know how these big companies roll. "Buy our expensive products, and even though they're still perfectly fine 6-8 years later, we're going to force you to buy a new product because we won't provide any support for your old product." Really makes me mad.

As to weather locatiions not much good as garmin are not capable of providing a good weather location data. I use the watch for cycling and can never get weathet location for where i live. And there is a weather station and weather apps that give me the correct data, garmin just gives me the weather of Alicante airport 60km away. Took up the matter with garmin spain but they said that was normal, it also happened to them, 0 proactvity to pass the information up the chain. Are you in contact with the development team?

I just wish the yoga app was structured differently. It has "Pose 1" like it's expecting me to click a button in between poses. I don't really see any instance where someone would do that - in a yin class, I'd be too busy breathing through the poses, and in my more usual flow / power classes, the change of pose happens too frequently.

I really can't stand when companies like Garmin and Apple use forced obsolescence on their products. They both make great products, don't get me wrong, which is why I buy them. So why do they then want to punish me for having a 735xt by not allowing any of these updates to be supported by my watch? I get that I don't have certain hardware features that would allow some of these updates to function, but some of them would. So eventually I have to sell or store a perfectly good running watch because it's now obsolete. Same with my VERY expensive phone. And then they think that after being treated like that I'm going to run out and buy their latest and greatest model? Not even the slimmest of chances.
