Finally Southgate has actually chosen a decent squad

The press citing the lack of England caps in the midfield as a problem 😂. So by their metric they'd rather have someone like Henderson who has picked up many England caps playing against the likes of Moldova and Andorra, rather than the youngsters like Bellingham and Foden - who don't have that number of caps yet, but ply their trade week in week out playing against the best in the world. 🤷

But none of them young players you mention play CM. The issue with the England squad is there is no clear option for 8 to support Rice in a more attacking formation, which would then help to facilitate for a more adventurous front three.

Playing a back 3 of Walker Stones Quansah will win it. With Trent-AA & Trippier as wing backs (backed up by Shaw). Golden trio midfield of Rice-Jude-Foden Up front, Kane-Palmer (with Saka & Gordon as impact subs) will bring it home & end 58 yrs of hurt. Or 5-2-3 with Foden Kane Jude up front & Rice & Curtis Jones in the midfield It feels like Gareth is channelling Sir Alf energy this time. (& Not Bobby Robson like in Euro 21). Its finally coming home & then Gareth becomes ManU's new boss as per Oliver Holt Mail Sports article. No offence was intended to Marcus who is a nice guy but look at how Saka bounced back after the pen miss. Marcus missed an early pen & heaped pressure on Saka & Sancho. Look at Marcus body language before the pen. I knew he wud miss it before he took it. Gareth has picked a great squad & check out the analytics on the UK-RG Maths Profs web-site. They love this squad. They predicted Argentina wud defeat France in Workd Cup final when most pundits said Messi wud lose in last 16 KO game cuz Messi was too old. False. Kane is seriously injured but has been taken since it's a provision squad 7 players will be cut at the end anyway. He's taken like 10 wingers and 1 fit n.9 with toney being an edgy choice since he hasn't played in ages, we don't know if he's up for it or still a bit rusty. Should've taken on form solanke as a backup over Wharton/Trafford and if Kane was by a miracle fit cut him sure but in case it's the other way round you don't go to the euros with 1 fully fit striker and 10+ people who can play on the wing...

You bank on the chance your best player makes a small recovery even if it's later in the tournament cus your best player can make a massive difference. Obviously england ain't no Senegal 😆 but Kane is still the undisputed #1 player in that England squad that's irreplaceable. He hasn't been completely ruled out yet but tuchel said it's bad and he's getting surgery we don't know it's uncertain bro. Either way this is a provision squad like I said 7 players get cut if its confirmed Kane is out for the tournament he will be cut no problem. My issue is then you're left with 1 fit striker

Tomori has been pretty bad this season, rumour has it he is on his way out of Milan, if he isn't good enough for Milan then why would he be good enough for the national team Dier is a strange one, probably should be in the squad given it is a weak area. Sancho has shown his talent too late, it is unlikely you will walk into the national squad if you have limited international game time, even less likely given how strong England is in this area, you mentioned Grealish but I don't think he will make the final squad in my honest opinion.

Lots of talent to pick from in midfield and forward positions. It's the defence and goalkeeper position that worries me if the aim is to win the tournament. I hear the complaints about the likes of Maguire being in the squad but what quality centre backs do we have when the likes of Ben White make themselves unavailable. I think Chilwell is a little unlucky. Sure he's not had great season but you could argue he's not tired and he has more experience at a high level. Surely it would have made sense to blood some of these youngsters he's picked now in earlier friendlies?

Rashford deserves nothing less....I would also release Grealish and play Bowen over Saka..... Bowen is a goal threat... he crosses the ball for the forward.... tracks back and works hard and is adept in playing a West Ham systen which is not unlike the way England's play is... always with a deep back line... Bowen works his socks off to bridge the large gap left between backline and forwards... Im not a WHU....but he has been exceptional in what has been at times a slightly poor performing team... so he has the mentality to perform even when the team isn't.

But Bowen works a lot harder to help out his fullback... two major goals in England's games we lost have come from Sakas side of the field... lying on the floor waving his arms for a foul when he got tackled and just dangling his leg out when not really trying to stop a cross . Individual skill Saka maybe better but TEAM ethic Bowen is far superior. But hey... there's not much in it and I suspect Gareth won't have Bowen in the final squad... its just my opinion... but I think Bowrn is a better asset for the team than both Saka and Grealish... but they're all very good players.

Lewis Hall is unreal at LB and Livramento can play LB and are both miles better than Luke Shaw. Both of them are 2 of the most promising full backs in Europe.

Pointless waffle. The fact is, England have the highest scoring winger in premier league history if you exclude penalties, the second highest scorer for England of the players today, the highest assist provider, the player who almost single handedly dragged England to their first final in over half a century, the most reliable England player in high stake competition games, and so clearly most dangerous attacker in English football today not in the squad let alone the team. The idea any team can succeed to win a competition without a player that can deliver so much reliably to their game and be so influential to a teams success whether the rest of the team do not perform so well or not is called wishful thinking. We've seen Southgate take risks in finals and failed at every turn. He is unable to make constructive risks and is strongest when he uses common sense. Common sense would tell you Jude Belligham has excelled partnering Vinicias Junior at Real Maddid winning the Spanish League and in the final of the Champions League which should be amazing for England as England have a similar player to Vinicias Junior in the name of Raheem Sterling in the England team meaning they can understand each other very quickly and form an equally powerful partnership for the England attack. This is common sense. But what does he do? He takes Sterling out of the team depriving England of that obvious lethal attacking partnership. Common sense would tell you that with England getting to a final with Sterling as the driving force giving defenders nightmares on one wing and Saka still developing on the other, when Saka finally develops as he has today and so much better than that final and able to give defenders nightmares like Sterling, England with these two wingers would be giving defenders sleepless nights on both wings and be even more lethal than when getting to that final, so you play them both again now as a bigger threat than before. This again is common sense. But no, Southgate has decided to not play Sterling and play a lesser threat that has achieved nothing, but some good games for an average club for one season and has no experience of high stakes competition, or an alternative that has played for England, but achieved nothing special when playing for England and is not even the first choice for his club team. It's astonishing stuff. As for Palmer, a player that has scored an average number of goals in open play scoring 10 penalties he will not take for England to push up his stats, but more importantly failed to make the Man City team and was then sold, because although he was known by Man City to score goals is too much of a defensive liability to have in a team that wants to win things or be a top team, why in the world would a manager with any sense ignore these facts and like a novice want to consider putting him in his team just because pundits, commentators and the media choose to ignore the obvious facts and claim the manager who sold him has made a mistake despite the fact this manager is winning everything under the sun. Palmer does not understand defense, does not participate in defensive responsibilities, does not know how to balance defensive and offensive responsibilities and has no interest in understanding or participating in defensive responsibilities at a time in football when all 11 players have offensive responsibilities and all 11 players have defensive responsibilities and the team least efficient at utilising all 11 players for these offensive and defensive objectives loses. That is modern football and what is understood by all the top teams in league and international football as necessary to win competitions or leagues. But Southgate obviously thinks he is the exception and wishful thinking will get him over the line. Without Raheem Sterling in the team, I predict England will be knocked out of the competition in the Quarter finals at these Euros, mark my words, so I won't even bother watching the games managed by stupidity that makes no sense forced on the manager by pressure from the media. Wishful thinking gets you nowhere. Peace and love

What would be the point of putting Butland in? He’s obviously 4th choice. Yes he’s been better than Trafford this season but the 4th choice go has zero chance of playing, but Trafford is very young and has significant potential. Good squad overall... only choices I disagree with are Grealish and Dunk over Rashford and Tomori... Grealish right now is basically a poor mans Eze... Eze offers the same qualities as Grealish and he's a much better finisher... Rashford despite having a poor season is still the most clinical left winger England have, imo. By your own logic, there’s no such thing as an Australian and Africa WILL be playing Africa at the euros as every single person is originally from there. I’m actually saying people can originate from one place through heritage but be personally from another place… just like you.

​​@@kslitz-2609honestly I dont think this squad will reach the semis. They have an easy group it depends who gets lined up for them during the knockouts. Consider Kane has a serious injury that he has to overcome somehow in a week he's getting surgery ffs. Great fantastic players all round but not much experience without the captain also Henderson ain't there anymore it'll be tough I don't think Southgate can make them play together tbh I have a bad feeling

It's refreshing to see someone actually say that international football isn't for them, rather than blame Southgate for not playing attacking football.

Don't care what you do with overrated England, just stay away from the United job.
