Gareth Southgate is too PREDICTABLE, HUGE England expectations & Who is James McClean? | Kevin Nolan

Спорт

Former Bolton, Newcastle and West Ham player Kevin Nolan is our special guest on No Tippy Tappy Football.
Kevin Nolan sits down alongside Sam Allardyce & Natalie Pike to talk everything from his time with Sam at Bolton & West Ham to how well England will do in the Euros.
The former West Ham coach talks about Jarrod Bowen's impact off the bench for England, Southgate's Kalvin Phillips comment and why James McClean is wrong about Declan Rice.
Kevin and Sam then discuss their time together at West Ham and Bolton, The experience of coaching at West Ham with David Moyes, Trent's midfield experiment and if it was a mistake not taking Jack Grealish to the Euros.
They then talk in depth about Sam's starting XI for the upcoming Slovenia game as well as why Harry Kane needs players running off him and Southgate has made England too predictable.
Finally, Kevin and Sam give us their predictions for England vs Slovenia and Scotland vs Hungary before Kevin tells us about the time Sam pinned him up against a wall after training at Bolton.
Who would you start in England's crucial game against Slovenia?

Southgate must know that the majority of fans & media want to see Foden at 10, Bellingham next to Rice as an 8 and then have pace down the left with Gordon. Saka & Kane can remain where they are and eventually Luke Shaw can come back in at left back. That is the ideal starting lineup. As players start to get tired in the second half, you can bring on people like Palmer for Foden, Eze for Gordon, Bowen for Saka, Wharton/Mainoo for Rice/Bellingham and even Trent for Walker. Not to mention Watkins for Kane when he gets too tired to run in behind. How hard is that to do??

Loved Nolan as a player but is he drunk in this episode. Could barely string a sentence together at the start then said Rice is the closest thing to Gerrard. That has to be the worst football take of all time. They’re not only different positions, but the difference in quality is chalk and cheese. Gerrard had already dragged his team to become the youngest Champions League winning captain of all time at the same age. Rice doesn’t deserve that

Allardyce was genius at getting the very best out of fairly average players. Tactically he just used common sense and played players in their best positions and made sure they did their job, nothing special, just do your job and give it 100%. It's exactly the opposite of what Southgate does. Southgate turns stars into average players and then plays them out of position. BUT just compare their managerial credentials. Southgate managed for just 3 seasons, relegated Middlesbrough, then got sacked. That's Southgate's CV before the FA came knocking at his door. Someone explain why the FA thought he was the man.

I get they're backing Rice, but at the same time he was moved by Arteta last season from the 6 because his passing out, transitioning from taking the ball from defence into the a forward position isn't great. He's a side ways passer alot of the time, Rice did he best work for arsenal as an 8, England need that player who's going to help the defence get out... oddly they could always work on space and movement to allow Stones to do that part and allow Rice to get on the ball slightly higher up

Big Sam should be leading that team as he would let all the players express themselves and play to their strengths. I honestly think he’d have England through with 2 comfortable wins and rest the top players for the next round. Southgate overthinks everything when England have a world class or player in every area of the pitch and this dobber can somehow make Bellingham and foden look average. I’d sack Southgate mid tournament and get a proper manager in. Unfortunately it’s going to be glorious failure for England. Hope not though.

James McCleans said rice is overrated by English media and sam and nolan are fuming 🤣 who is James McLean, given his career in the premiership and championship, hes more than entitled to an opinion. If hes not, kevin nolan probably shouldnt have one either. If you look at what McClean actually said, he makes some valid point, he said rice is a very good footballed but not world class and hes not there yet. He also said he cant control a game and take the ball on the half turn from the back line, comments that have been made by neville and jame carragher for example. Mccleans comments are being blown up by english media due to his own history. Slow news day. Typical English media

James McClean is a professional footballer entitled to an opinion. An opinion that was fairly nuanced and reasonable if you actually read what he said. But, hey big sam and one of the most mediocre midfielders of all time got to have a personal dig at him so that's cool.

gallagher has looked better than some .who arnt gettin as much a stick . plus ive wtached some reels yes i kow thats not a full inictator but hes banged in some cracking shots and showed a lot of quick skillful turns and high energy , people talkin like hes a donkey .southgate is playing him as a defensive mid , to help rice out . not his best position but then southgate plays half the team out of position . in fairness hes trying to make 17 attacking midfielders into a team .but he picked this lopsided squad .didnt even take a fit left back thats ludicrously incompetent decision making . kev n sam are right its so predictable so easy for the opposition coach to set his stall out to nullify england . they are so vulnerable to counter attack .. sam talks sense unlike gareth .

And I’m assuming you’re qualified to judge Kevin Nolan’s opinion, a man that played against Gerrard many times and who was a coach at West ham when he lead them to a European trophy? Or you know better than Arteta? Wind your neck in, it’s ridiculous.
