Guadalajara smashed everyone's expectation as the crowd turned out even better in comparison to the more "traditional" tennis crowd. Such good vibes and definitely not as slow as Shenzhen or Singapore in the past few years in terms of the speed of the court so that's another plus

@Giovanna Andrade that made it even more interesting, I mean I love how players have to adapt to different conditions like grass, clay, indoors, many players like Osaka never play good on clay etc, so I would say we need more tournaments with altitude, it's way more interesting

The atmosphere and crowd in Guadalajara compared to previous WTA Finals is like night and day. This was the best host city in years and I hope they can continue to host them here! Great tournament🇲🇽

Yes!!! The crowd here is amazing!!!! They supported every single player! So hospitable!!!

And also, please keep tennis where the crowd really enjoy tennis and players,the atmosphere here was trumendous! I didn’t saw a public so into it since Singapore. The crowd deserve an A+

maybe you didn't t see a crowd so into it because we are in the middle of a pandemic. and most of the tournaments respected covid 19 measures . in Mexico they have a low vaccination rate, they don t test and the crowd was packed and not wearing masks. On the long term it will only cost us all more, because it will make the pandemic last even more! I do enjoy tennis crowds but I think we should all respect the common sacrifice we all made in these 2 years! In Mexico I didn't t see any of it, they don t even test the tourists who enter their country! this is irresponsible

I am a big fan of Annette. This was the biggest match of her whole career by a wide margin - but Garbine’s vast experience in saving her best for big time matches clearly showed through.

Yeah, the commentators mentioned she looked overwhelmed with the pressure. She still had some amazing winners in this match though so I look forward to seeing more of her in 2022.

really happy these two made the finals. kontaveit had the best year of her career and muguruza is very consistent again.

Great year for Anett. Super happy for Garbine and fitting that she won her first WTA finals in Latin America as she shares her roots with that continent. They adopted her as their own and I'm sure the support helped her raise her level during this tournament.

A beautiful ending to an incredible tournament in Guadalajara. I really hope the WTA Finals could remain in this city. The atmosphere was super friendly and joyous, the crowd were altruistic to all players. Im from Melbourne, and I always believed our crowds were the fairest, however Mexico has proved me wrong. I hope the Finals remain in Mexico, especially if China does not investigate the incident with Peng Shuai.

The one thing I noticed about Muguruza when she flows under the radar she rises to the occasion. Before Wimbledon 2017 she lost 6-1 6-0 to Strycova. Before Guadalajara this year she lost 6-1 6-1 to Kontaveit, and not to mention what she did last year at AO, and when people count her out she proves them wrong time and time again. Vamos Garbi for proving the critic wrong yet again

I also noticed something strange on that loss to Kontaveit, Garbiñe was out of the game, you could see her coach wasn´t in it too. I think it was a conscious decision to give Garbiñe a much needed rest to reset and focus. Wise decision. Bravo!

Let's be real, I'm just super excited to see tennis played at a venue where the crowd actually appreciates the tennis and the game. The crowd brings a lot to the excitement of the game when watching. When you have boring crowds like in a lot of the Asian swing where the WTA Finals has been in the past several years it hasn't always been the greatest to watch.

There were a lot of doubts for this year’s WTA finals but oh boy, seemed like one of the best in recent years!!!! Congratulations WTA for a wonderful event! Congratulations to Muguruza for one of the better seasons of her career! And of course to Anette who finally blossomed to a different level late this year! 2022 is gonna be exciting!

Mugu fought and she deserves this. Anett had a incredible year and for sure we'll see more of her. Incredible tournament, incredible venue. Thanks

Garbiñe has played amazing. She seemed secure although she lost the first match. Obviously, she has did a great mental job to achieve this tournament. Her game was as good as when she was the number 1. Congratulations for her an all the team whom did possible to view the best version of Garbiñe.

What an amazing finals in Guadalajara, I think the WTA have to really think in make Guadalajara a constant host, the vibe and support for all the players was great as the two players said, congrats Muguruza!!!

Great tournament from both. Muguruza had a bit of an unlucky year with injuries, but she's finished the year how she started it - in tremendous form. Kontaveit has finally shown what many of us have thought she was capable of.. I'm excited to see what she does next year!

She also won Cincinnati in 2017 which is Premier tournament now called a 1000 tournament on the WTA so yeah she's won so big titles

It was the biggest match for Kontaveit. It's no surprise that Muguruza won. Mugu is 2 times Slam champ, so she knows how to handle pressure better than kontaveit and it showed whn Kontaveit couldn't close the 2nd set. It was Muguruza's match to lose and she did not.

Sad for Kontaveit that she couldn't take it all the way, but good for women's tennis that you have an established elite player winning elite level titles again. It's been a long journey for Muguruza and in 2019 she was outside the top 30, so I really have the feeling she deserves this.

Really wanted to see Anett to win this; she had a great year and was playing awesome; but somehow Muguruza managed to beat her game style and was really the better player in both matches, so simply outplayed Anett; but I believe Anett has a great career before her and will achieve more than what she has already achieved, if she keeps playing like this. She is one of the most consistent players this year, maybe the most consistent one. So I really hope that she keeps this level of game and even rise it to a higher level. She has the potential. Best wishes for both players.

Its great to see the best players play against each other with close matches. So can they stop losing in tournaments to unknown underwhelming players anymore. It would be great to see the top players establish some consistency and make it to all the finals please.

So great to see Garbine reconnect with her Latin American roots. While she represents Spain, she in reality is Venezuelan and going to Guadalajara was like a bit of a homecoming for her. Anett was so gracious in defeat. No doubt, her day is coming. Expect her to be hoisting a Grand Slam trophy in the very near future. Garbine won the last four games of each set which is what carried her to victory. Hold, break, hold, break. Viva, Muguruza!!!

I decided to refresh my memory and watched 2015 WTA Finals highlights of Muguruza- Aga Radwanska semis. I don't think there is anyone anymore on WTA tour left who can strike with such intelligence and unique technique as Aga used to..I missed watching her
