Garage Door Repair - won't stay closed or go down

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Replacement Safety Sensors → amzn.to/2j1KP7q
Replacement Ultra Quiet Rollers → amzn.to/2j1KWjn
It's a really easy fix and the things I show in the video should repair nearly 100% of garage doors that won't stay closed.
Obviously, make sure nothing is blocking the sensors. Then make sure the sensors are pointing straight. If those things don't fix it, then look to make sure the tracks are not too tight against the rollers.

I'm a 65 year old woman who has ZERO handy man skills. .MY garage door had issues over the weekend. Your video was very well prepared, to the point, with all the information needed. I fixed the door in under 20 minutes without having to call a neighbor or pay an after hours service fee. I'm thrilled and appreciate this wonderful instructional video. I hope you have more.I have now subscribed to your DIY you tube videos. Thank you Adam very much. Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks!!!!!😅😊 Martha G.

Garage door suddenly was not closing. Parents were worried we'd have to call a technician or something. I immediatley went on youtube, found this video, tried adjusting the sensors and anything that could be blocking and voila the garage door went down. Very easy to understand and love how you should everything close up. Thanks Adam!

Adam, thanks for an exceptional video. You helped me to fix my garage door in under an hour without calling a technician. The sensors were fine. however, the wheels were far too tight in the track and I had to adjust the track to provide the wheel adequate room for movement without excessive tension. Thank you!

Great video. Well put together and organized without any nonsense. Your video was the first one I watched that pointed out the issue with sunlight hitting the sensor at a certain time of day. That was the exact problem on mine. I was also able to check the rest of the track and wheels and the sensors, as well as clean the sensors. Thanks again.

Way to go Adam! My issue was with the wheels hitting the screws on the Track. I would have never thought of that. I added grease to the wheels and then noticed certain screws had grease on them and some didn't and a few wheels had no play in them to slide in and out. So all I did was loosen the nut on the track where the screws hasd grease on them and the wheels were tight, pushed the track about 1/8" to 1/4" outwards using a crowbar and that worked like a charm!!! You saved me a service fee and hours of trying to troubleshoot it myself! You da Man!

Excellent video! I checked everything on the list and finally figured out that there some wet leaves that had stuck to the bottom of my garage door, and stuck out just enough to trip the sensors. Once I swiped them off, the door closed perfectly. But I also went through the other steps and cleaned the sensors before discovering this, so maybe it's a little preventive maintenance too. Thank you for sharing your expertise!

Your sequence of checks work great! In my case... I realized that it wasn't the roller friction that was causing the door to reverse because it would reverse even when I disconnected the door from the track. It was indeed the sensor alignment. Thanks!

Thanks. This was the first video I have seen that talks about track alignment. The Genie troubleshooting chart only talked about sensor alignment and open & close force adjustment. When I started the process the sensors were misaligned which I adjusted and the door still wouldn't close. Well the sensor was misaligned because the track had bent. Once that was straightened out & the sensors re-aligned the door works again.

Wow! It's now working. I took gray/grey cover off of unit and adjusted limit adjustments. Visually seeing how it works helped determine the original settings. Also turned power off to unit and now works great. I also tightened head bracket and all screws on door. I believe it was combination of below zero temps, limit adjustments done wrong and loose screws from 20+ years of wear and tear. Thanks for the info to get me thinking outside the box. Tragedy averted in Troy. Thanks again!!!!!!!!!!!
