“It will warm up the house…, it is an improvement, of a laptop and a heater” great words from Sorin 😂. Sorin must be a really great guy to work with, his quick wit and one liner jokes 😂 would make someone’s day
You are an amazing man Sorin. Great technician, teacher and enjoyable company too.

Dodgy repairs are making me, the customer and nature happy with a big smile 🙃
I don't know how you've gone so long without a thermal camera. That hot wire would've taken ages to spot without it! Great job as always Sorin.

He would never become what he is now, if he had thermal camera since beginning. Dont use thermal if you want to learn electronics and troubleshooting, otherwise if there is no heat, you will not be able to fix anything.

Exactly, i dont have one and i dont think i could have ever found the issue

@@Geert365 Probably around 5 years ago (more actually). From his video i saw him using his own hand to test the heat since he didn't have thermal camera at that video.

@@nori6237 Mist this comment, coincidentally i am watching a video now, where the man mentions he did it this way for years (A warranty come back job.... e.t.c , it is called).
I've repaired a very expensive gaming laptop for a friend recently only with the help of your videos. Thanks a lot Sorin!
Sorin, the Steven Spielberg of Electronic repair videos....I don't know why, but I felt more happy than Sorin when the screen turned on, like AHA!!!, u See!!!, he fixed it and it worked even with 1 wire only.... A Joy to watch as susual.😀😀
Sorin, I have to congratulate you keeping your enthusiasm alive for electronics after years in the trade. Its a lesson for all of us. Your fault finding logic and teaching are impeccable. The cheap single wire fix for the display with optional "room heating"...wonderful. :)
Hi Sorin I love it when you say let's do something dodgy. It's always a proper learning experience. Great stuff and thank you.
Omule, esti un model pentru esecul societății de consum.Felicitari! Oamenii ca tine dispar si nu mai apar altii!
35:05 so I know now, what is the worst punishment for Sorin: - to order and replace lcd cable - solder new/used capacitor (in place of shorted one) -solder new fuse (instead of make a bridge with one thin wire, taken from powersuply cable) -solder new first mosfet (after power connector) (instead of make a bridge with solder) -remove rosin after soldering
Zen and the art of electronic repairs. Your videos are simply amazing - on so many levels! Greatly appreciated!
I've watched maybe 2 dozen of your videos probably more but they are always informative and you never rush through which makes them much easier to follow and apply to other types of repairs and trouble shooting. You are a master of your trade and I thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Incredible job Sorin! I truelly love you! You just shown how a totally dead laptop, become a usable and almost pefect laptop, with zero money spent. I mean yeah, the troubleshooting has a cost, but indeed, that backlight solution is for me, a real badass fix! Thank you for sharing knowlade Master Sorin, Master of dodginess ❤️🧡
I've been waiting for the day when you repaired a laptop that I have and you've taken me for an electronics tour of something that I may have to fix one day too! I learned a couple of tricks in this video, thank you. I think I would've given up thinking the screen was trashed and binned the whole thing.
Thanks again great video, I really like your attitude not to waste time and resources (i.e. new parts) when it is not absolutely needed.
your way of diagnosing problems is very ingenious, congratulations
Amazing job as always. You're great! 👏🏾👍🏾
Great entertainment and end result. Don't apologise for being 'dodgy', if it saves something from landfill it's environmentally friendly!
great video, to much to learn, thank you!!
Thanks for sharing Sorin❤😊
Nice vid, alot of concentrated knowledge here. Thumbs up!
As always a great job sorin! Have a niiice weekend!
Excellent repair!!!
A ultrasonic bath for keyboard won't be able to fix it? It might have some short from water damage deposits and a ultrasonic bath might get rid of the mineral deposits from water.
Nice repair for the screen. The next step is to try repairing the keyboard 😎
The explanation for the failure analysis is unquestionable, which led us to the successful and inexpensive repair of that laptop. In my daily tasks I prefer to use a cheap external keyboard (more accessible to me). Thank you very much for your time and sharing. All the best.
Appreciate all your Videos.
Nice work. I don't think it's dodgy to want to save money and time when a little solder can fix the problem.
Brilliant hack from the beginning!
As usual, Sorin know what to do. Bravo, Sorin !
Good job mate 👍
Nice video Sorin!!
Hello from Bulgaria, you are the best, i mean it.
Sorin nice laptop to fix. Little cleaner and new key board. Solder 3 more wire it’s now a proper calibrated fuse I think. Thanks for the update
Sorin it's just soo dodgy, BUT i love it. thumbs up..great diagnosis as always..

perfect fault finding and the camera again saving the laptop :)
Your are my favorite teacher 😄
nice job Sorin you are the boss
Thank you for sharing this vedio
Have been using this laptop for the past 4 years. it's always been a great machine. Never had any issues with it. it's pretty solid and mine is on liquid metal. so I change it every year.
I wonder if you ultrasonic cleaned the keyboard would it clear the short on it. Nice job Sorin.
"Do you think we can fix this?" Of course, YOU can!
Very good job as always, still I can't quite understand how did you get away with injecting voltage with swapped polarity (@9:20) .. was it the reverse voltage protection diode who saved the main board?
@electronicsrepairschool
Жыл бұрын
Lol, i didn't realised that :D anyway, it's a short, polarity doesn't really matter :D
@electronicsrepairschool, Sorin, why dont you have a large magnet nearby or small neo-dynium magnet on the end of screwdriver tip??? it's so handy for keeping tiny screws from being lost and also for extracting the screws that turn but won't lift out.
I love you big boss, you give me hope always
Nice one 👍
Great repair Sorin, as usually! One more thing: please, if it that possible, move that mouse arrow from screen, i move my mouse a million time during watching video :D
thanks teacher
Hi you could plug hdmi screen.
Please Mr sorin can you make a video on how to repair a keyboard that has some keys that press in its own or don't press at all?
How does the rate of shorted main power rail mosFET compare in non-gaming laptops?
so perfect hob bro
Hello Sorin What is camera you use for recording video in this video
Good job 🤝👏👏👏👏👋👋👋👍👍👍
Woah. The video was great. We are learning the most on dodgy jobs and we can earn money by doing dodgy. By buying new screen connector and keyboard the customer will quit the repair.
Would be interesting to see if it is possible to fix the keyboard or isn't this possible at all?
Good day
if your quick Sorin there is a used keyboard on Ebay for a fiver!, or there is another one for £60 or a brand new one for £100
.Sorin, what bench power supply are you using ?
u can use hdmi monitor to look if the board is ok too
Everyone who lives near this master, is lucky one.
Hi, I've been scrolling down all your videos but I did not see anything about laptop screen horizontal lines. I want to understand how to fix this kind of problem, what signals to check, etc. Because my own personal laptop has tiny horizontal lines at the bottom part. And I've been checking the clk signals but stuck in there. I cant trace where its going. Hope you can see this comment. Thank you
Hello chief i have a question, can i turn on asus tuf gaming fx504 without battery?
HMMM New keyboard Au$38 with free shipping from Ali Express + Sorin screen cable room heater fix + parts only price = good buy to me. Eric
thanks. Work like all home made masters. today repair is to expensive for customer, and for master, parts and time, is a one of issue. master can sell a repaired product. scales between the customer and the master for money
Please Sorin, can shorted mosfet caused the indicator light of the charger to go off when plugged in. It is a Dell laptop anyway.
9:21: you appear to have swapped the positive and negative probes from your power supply...
but can you change the screen connector? from broken screen
If you would bet for a gone mosfet you had to pay a coffee. But we are without words because each fixing is more amazing than the one before.
How do you get away with only using one of them wires? Anyway add a small external keyboard and an SSD and get a decent laptop. Depending on the spec turn it into a desktop get a screen cable and save screen for a future repair.
It's just an interconnect that never moves, done the same many times..
Haha looks dodgy but that's such a small current, soldering wires will do just fine... A bit of hot glue and it will be more rigid than the original connector :D
I do same if this is the fix requi
I broke my screen on the same one? fx505gt? I got the plug and all just need a new screen :P 150Watt .
You could off other wires from keyboard membrane leaving two for power and the customer would have a working laptop, and he could just buy a cheap keyboard for it. Even though if he could afford a gaming laptop he could also afford a good keyboard.
hi.. can u help me with my asus tuf505dy ? my laptop has power, when pres the power button the keyboard just keep blinking.. and the LCD has no display at all, lo logo showing up
The keyboard was bad? thought it typed, what did i miss?
I would be happy white thuis repair
Love the Dodgyness
I like
it would be better to you purchased it at start and than fixed it and made for self gaming laptop to sell if for some rly good money :) even to it was dead there was alot of expensive parts on it which you would sell for much more :)
my asus 505dt dead and unable to findout why ? Please let me know to proceed further. My repair assistant is telling me to replace the motherboard. But Im not sure how to proceed further.
what is best gaming laptop 1000euro ? best brand ?
But the short is gone when the cable is disconnected, so isn't it just a cable replacement, ie, cutting tracks is dodgy - lol -.
I want such a motherboard for sale If available
A man after my own heart, join those four to one thicker wire and solder to the pad, bit of kapton tape jobs done…
Is there a reason why the GPU and CPU don't have over-voltage protection? Is it just manufacturers saving money?
THE DODGY THING WE CAN DO IS DESOLDER THE SCREEN CONECTOR AND SOLDER BACK THE WIRES LOL you can turn it to powerful desktop with some extra cooling trics
Sorin please repair that keyboard. You can do it I know I seen that before from you. Don't bye a keyboard even if its cheap. Please for the purpose of learning. Thanks for all the unic and teaching videos. You are the MASTER

not dodgy repair infact its better than it was straight connection
👏👏👏👏
I hate it when those "gaming" laptops use single channel RAM and by the looks of it,also runs on a hard drive that also seems to have bad sectors
Great job by dodgy Sorin ... "Some sticky thingy" that is really funny...
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
