Me and my bf had a £50 gw voucher from a relative of his. So we used it on this box and split the rest of the cost of the box. It arrived yesterday at his place so I'm going to go and make it with him.

It’s interesting to see the Imperial Navy getting represented in 40k in terms of ground troops on the tabletop, I hope we get to see them more, maybe their own faction in 40k 10th edition.

I think they are not really ground troops. They are for boarding actions in ship to ship combat. They leave the planetary fighting for the Imperial Guard, or Space Marines.

For the inch marker thing : ive lived in Japan since 2015 and I can tell you that outside of the UK and US, getting a tape measure with inches is basically impossible without paying ridiculous ammounts of money for an imported one. They've been really helpful for us living in other countries using only the metric system :D

On the issue of washes, Vallejo makes some larger pots of Wash products in a range of colours which can go a long way at a decent price. They do seem more watery than say Army Painter or Vallejo's own smaller dropper bottle paints.

Actually, Zone Mortalis is also available in plastic from GW for Necromunda :) also modular.
I like the gauges for using as spacers when doing intended moves (e.g. in Age of Sigmar if your movement is more than enough to get within 3 inches you can place the gauge on the table and get your units as close as possible without having to have a measuring tape get in the way.
I liked the movement guages I always assumed it was because a tape is straight but the guage you could chop your movement into sections like zig zag if you wanted to or to accurately measure running around a corner
The dice are the same ones from Octarius. The bag that they come in is even labeled "Kill Team: Octarius," so they're just pulling from the same dice print run.
My dyslexic wife loves the shapes/colors. I also like the ease of using them as opposed to a tape measure in tighter board spaces with dense terrain. The clear rulers they release with 40k and AoS starter boxes would work just as well though if dyslexia wasn't an issue for some. Also gives them the ability to make special/fomo ones people will riot for later. =D
I'm holding out for a Kill Team set in Queen Mab /Eisenhorn area of the 40k lore. So much to play with in what is essentially the wild west of the imperium.
I love the Navy Breachers. Im making a combo space marine/guardsman army with a steampunkish/nautical theme. Calling them "Nemos Legion" and the breachers are PERFECT
Imma sucker for packaging and presentation- did anyone notice how they lined the interior box top with orange??? Nice touch!
My theory is that the movement symbols has to do with localisation concerns. Instead of molding multiple versions of movement guides and printing extra translated cards, they can just assign symbols to certain things and use print translated rules in the book
@airborngaming2250
Жыл бұрын
That was a lot of nothing.
@Morrodin182
Жыл бұрын
Yes because numbers like 1,2,3 are so difficult to translate. ;) ... To be fair, I've seen this argument brought up by other people as well but still it doesn't make much sense because 1,2,3,... doesn't need any translation. I also think that IF going with symbols they could have been much more intuitive than the actual symbols they went for. In the end it does not REALLY matter that much but every bit helps when you try to introduce something new.
@TheTeohg
Жыл бұрын
@@Morrodin182 the comment is about other places in the world using other measurement systems, so 1 inch will be 2.54 centimeters, and it would need translation of the values. So the patronization with the symbols and don't have to translate the rules

@@TheTeohg Thanks for your answer although I have to say I find it utter non-sense. I live in Belgium. We use the metric system. Not once while playing Warhammer or alike games have I recalculated inches into cm and vise versa. There is no need for recalculation.
I'm painting my into the dark terrain with a rattle can that's very similar to lead Belcher dry brushing silver and oil washing with a 2 parts brown 1 part black wash!
Picked up this box today, I don't actually like the colours GW used for the breachers, so I'm going with a 110th Cadian look, however I'm thinking I'm going to make the cloth black and the armour green, I think I might try base it with leadbelcher and see if I can put a green over top of it and see IF i get some sort of green metallic effect, if not, I'm fine with them being a matte green, I'm treating these dudes like Navy SEALs...in space

Green contrast paint or wash over metallic renders great results for colored metallics! I've used it a ton and it works super for what you're going for.
I absolutely love your excitement. It's very contagious :)
the movement pieces in my eyes are GENIOUS because it gives not only another piece to customize, but also the PERFECT practice pieces so you don't ruin the minis or the terrain while also being able to work with high detail and get confidence in a color scheme
Don't forget to check the fit of the terrain BEFORE painting. I've seen everything from a perfect fit to people breaking out massive files and dremmels on the connecting bits.
Absolutely live this but one question I have is how is the veteran gaurdsman artillery suppor5 supposed to work inside a ship?
Props on the t shirt, dude! Bug stompers - we endanger species!
Ivory black will dilute down into a bluish color and much more so, whereas Mars black has a brownish warmer quality when diluted, and it is more concentrated, so you'll use less or dilute it more.
Yooo, thats awesome, thanks for the discount also. My box is coming today!!!!!!
Oil paint and white spirit makes an even better recess wash. Cleanup with white spirit and makeup sponge.
was looking forward to seeing how excited you would be to get your copy!

Could you use space hulk boards for these rules
they could have done a super clean and well maintained mechanicus themed board and a dingy abandoned space hulk or poorly maintained navy ship.
It would be so cool to have a game with the left 1/3 indoors and the rest out side so you could have both snipers and meltas
@magneticman245

That was my first thought on seeing this terrain and you're the first person I've seen with the same idea. Combining indoor and outdoor areas would make such a dynamic map
The big question is.. can you buy the rulebook seperate and how much is it?
Totally missed opportunity with fetch. I bet gather is the British version of fetch. Great video! Loved the savage opening of the dice bag!! I’m calling it now. Kill team it’s getting hot in here (that’s the next one to come out) it’s gonna have tan sand!! Somewhere in that space hulk there is tan sand somewhere!! The terrain is the main reason I’m going to get this set. Homemade acrylic wash is great for terrain. I may do an oil wash on this set just to make it really rich.
Expansion pack time!!!!! Yay for new killteam content!
I feel the Necromunda boards ( The Tunnel ones)would go great with this set.
Does anyone know if the objective cards are the same ones from octarius set
We need a 'Jay paints ItD Terrain' vid, show us how to make washes and all that!
Regarding what you were saying about GW scenery and and the thicker plastic, I remember from another channel a year or so ago that scenery was being made in China, where an inferior type of plastic was being used. The actual minis were being made in the UK from the good stuff.
Based on my skirmish experience (malifaux and infinity), standardized rulers with 1-6 inches is quite useful and make game faster and more comfortable
Really hoping Jay builds those Gellerpox Infected, really want to see the direction he goes with them.
I think the movement templates are awesome. Here in Germany it can be hard to find measure tools in imperial😅 Just metric things😅😅😅

1 part glaze medium, 1 part airbrush flow medium and 2 parts Nuln oil
Ooh can we get a painting tutorial for painting up this terrain?😃🙏🏽
Can't wait for mine!
+100xp for the Bug Stompa T Shirt. I MUST have one!
I’ve been working on converting Necromunda gangs to Kill Team. The new rules are perfect for Necromunda!
That box is huge, I'm gonna have to get this. Oh wow!
Ah now I get to compare my progress of Kill Team: Raymond with Jay, considering how long I took with Octarius this doesn't bode well (I've painted my last Krieger to an acceptable standard on Saturday, so it only took me a year...). I've got both teams just for me though, so I'm working through Kroot whilst I ruminate on the breachers (I may have a plan to recast some of the parts so I can make a whole roster with one box). Also I think those cards are updated reprints, so they shouldn't have the printing errors that the first run had.
I think GW is using the new kill teams as sample testing on fans for future plastic units. It's possible all these guard units for kill team could all be hints as to whats to come for the very long awaited Guard Book. Also would love to get more plastic kroot!
Those Breachers look like Cylons from the 1970s Battlestar Galactica. I think they'll look pretty good with some better posing and pjs... by your command!
I'm more excited about the terrain for this box so hopefully they plan on selling it separately soon. I don't need more squads at the moment. Though if this had been Ad-Mech vs NEW sculpts of Tyranids, or the new Leagues of Votann/kin vs the new Kroot or (gonna keep saying it) NEW SCULPTS OF TYRANIDS, I would have pre-ordered this ASAP. Like "sorry wife and kids, we're in debt this month. Daddy wants his spiritual successor to Space Hulk." though I'll admit the Imperial breachers are pretty darn cool. I'll eventually get a box of them once they separate this out.
I've been on the edge of jumping into killteam for a while. Ive paintined some tteams, sttarted buying books etc but not dived intto playing. This Walled in ship setting has me far more hyped to go for it
the dog with the star team i think has it called fetch
One of the rules that a lot of people seem to miss or forget about in Kill team is that you must move in ONLY straight lines. If you want to move less than an inch in one direction that movement costs you one inch even though you actually only moved say half an inch. When you play the movement rules properly the measuring doohikeys become a lot more convenient as you can 'walk' out your movement using the edges to create the straight line increments that the space you are moving through allows. The less than one inch counts as an inch part has a huge effect on twisty or tight spaces. If your not sure where that is in your core book, its on page 61 in the first paragraph of the Normal Move action "The operative must move in straight-line increments each time it moves in a direction. An increment of movement can be less than triangle, but such increments are still treated as triangle" This rule makes a very large impact on movement and navigating spaces can become far more costly than you think, adding depth to movement and terrain setup. If you ignore this rule and just do the quick guestimates I see 90% of people doing in battle reports, I suggest you break out of the habit and play it how its supposed to be played. You'll be surprised how much different it can be
I would make a wash out of paint thinner or white spirits and oil paint it’ll act more like nuln oil
The inch template is great for countries where we don't know what an inch is and we don't have inch rulers at hand's reach.
Would love to Eldar exodites make an appearance in kill team
Oil washes is what you should be using.
Kill Team releases gives me hope for 40K 10th edition. Because you see that GW actually CAN make a good system.

thought about getting into this game so I ordered this set + 2 sets of just the terrain. Are there psykers in this game?
@Snarfcakes
Жыл бұрын
These teams don't have psykers i dont think but a couple of the other kill teams do
Hopefully the reason why the two sides of the board look the same is because one side will stay the same across each box to help make bigger 40k boards and the other side will be specific to that set
that terrain is very cool, i hope they sell it on its own
I hope that GW makes more DLC for the Death Korps in plastic, and I hope that you show off you IG painting skills Jay!

Not gonna lie, this is the first Warhammer box that actually looks interesting to me. Though I kind of want to buy the minis to play Vince Venturella's new game.
Warcry does not use the Kill Team movement template. It still uses good old fashion rulers.

The Navy breaches could probably find good work with a Rogue Trader.
This is the first Warhammer release iv ever bought. Mostly because I got into the hobby 2 years ago. And I am also a sucker for Kroot, and my opponents complain about my use of Snipers in Terrain so I look forward to beating them in melee too.

Killteam is actually really good for WH40K and GW as it lets people have a jumping on point for the main game while also letting GW gauge what the people want while also giving them a bit of freedom as they don't have to release an entire army.
I picked this up primarily for the Navy and the terrain, but the Kroot models are the shiz.
