This is a great video! The sniffer is my favorite mob and I was wondering about a lotta these things. I do have one thing to say though: The ancient plants probably weren't the only things the sniffers dug up. Those plants weren't ancient back then, so the sniffers probably dug up other stuff too like sticks, fruits and since they were in the nether they might have even dug up ancient debris! Sniffers were far more useful back then, which makes this theory even better! The more things the sniffers did, the better they would be for the fishermen! They might have even dug up the prismarine in the monuments! Great job guys :)

This was my first game theory from Tom. Honestly, it doesn’t feel much different than Matpat, and hearing that Tom wrote some of the previous theories makes it feel more like I’m at home. Great video and theory overall!

Don't know why anyone would call them chips, they aren't a chip of anything.

Also in dogs today we see floppy ears and a different snout which is a left over trait of them becoming more docile and losing neural crest cells. This process is called domestication syndrome and we can see it the the sniffers with their smaller sizes, changed snouts and floppy ears. Savannas too are usual connected to deserts, it's actually a known strategy for speedrunners to find lava pools , if they see a savanna they head towards it hoping to find lava there or finding desert connected to it since it's easier to spot lava pool.

yk what will be cool the more mobs we release the more the percentage increases of seeing them randomly thus when letting 2 sniffers go there is a small chance they will randomly spawn the more sniffers spawned in and despawn the more the percent increases this could make for a cool achievement to like "bringing the dead back or smh.

* Sniffers have beaks. * Sniffers have feathers (maybe, I'm not sure) * Sniffers are confirmed to be dinosaurs * Birds are dinosaurs I think the ancient builders might have brought big beaks to the Nether when they first got there, so the big beaks could have evolved into the sniffers, like how the piglins and hoglins came from pigs (I also believe striders to have come from frogs, but I don't know why frogs would be in the Nether). Why big beaks? Big beaks are a mount in Minecraft Legends that can jump pretty high, and the Nether is a pretty elevation-based environment. It'd be useful to have big beaks there. But like the pigs, they eventually changed. Seeing as there's no lightning in Minecraft Legends to prove that the big beaks turn into sniffers, let's just go with this.

I love how Minecraft has some lore, but it still allows the players to interpret it, in their own way 👍🏾

I personally think that what shrunk the sniffers was actually moving to warped forest. The forest is very dense and vegetated, and a huge creature like the sniffer would shrink in size due to natural selection to be able to move around better.

Love the video and I’d love to add that another thing that connects the sniffer to the nether is the giant size of the their skeletons. In the real world giant animals were a thing, megafauna, and they were around only during the ice age, which, according to your prior theories, the nether did have.

My one gripe with this theory is how the modern Sniffers would have Nylium growing on their backs. Sloths aren’t born with algae already in their fur last I checked, so I don’t really see why there would already be Nylium growing on a Sniffer that spent the last couple thousand years not only in a egg, but also underground in a completely different dimension.

Yeah i think it's nyleum colors not the actual nyleum. Maybe in the beginning but i think they would have evolved to match it as their young would often die because they didn't have the protective nyleum.

Hey just a thought I had that probably no-one will see, but what if the ancient builders got rid of the wither(s) by taking them to the nether? The soul sand valleys have massive skeletons that can be formed into a wither, and all the soul sand could represent a great battle that took place against the wither.

Tom did an absolutely amazing job here just like Matt Pat he’s able to make a very convincing theory I was ready for the theory at the start. Then once he started mentioning the nether I became more skeptical, but then he twisted it around and it made sense. Absolutely amazing.

Actually Tom, Cats domesticated themselves. They started as barn cats and then house cats because that was where the food was. The same is said of dogs. The wolves that were less skittish around humans (most likely smaller) were able to get more food and thus bred with each other for docileness and cuteness. Cats have changed little, since their main purpose was to catch rodents. I have a 12 year old cat that was born in a horse barn and he likes to eat grass and go out into my yard. He was raised mostly indoors. But I have a 6 year old orange tabby girl who does not want to go out and gets anxiety if I try (I adopted her from a shelter where she was most likely born indoors). The sniffers could have gotten smaller as a part of their partnership with humans because they were easier to feed.

The Minecraft game design book Jeb wrote recently got leaked (sorta) and I think it would be interesting to re-visit enderman. It was stated in the book flat out that Enderman are attempting to bring out the destruction of all dimensions by slowly displacing blocks.

had a thought could the breeze/blaze be varients on the golems, each deliver a beatdown with their respective "elemental" type. Each mob does protect and area/person. was going to say they seem to be more easily/require specific conditions to be summoned.

A really cool game I feel like y’all should cover is Fran bow!! This series was played by gt live and I was always expecting a theory and to my surprise there never was one! Let’s see some resurgence of Fran bow!!!
