I’m going through all of the videos that I love and loved and grew up with, because of MatPat’s youtube departure. You really did fill my days with education and entertainment, and curiosity. Thank you for being there for us dad pat!

The black goop that all the other entities have is also probably a part of the lore. The black goop on seek, screech, and maybe rush is really suspicious.

Something else I noticed with the recent update: At door 50, a lamp is knocked down, which distracts "The Figure". Originally, I thought it just fell, but now, if you look very quickly, you'll see the Guiding Light's blue glow/sparkles. Meaning that it can physically interact with things too! Plus, the NPC added this update, Goblino, mentions the blue glowy things. This means the Guiding Light isn't just exclusive to us.

I have a theory to go along with mat's evidence, so after the courtyard things get crazy. I believe that the courtyard symbolizes that the guiding light can't protect you anymore.

I’m so excited and hope there’s another video about this game. Getting to explore the new update in more detail will be fun to watch. Including the new ‘The rooms’ levels. I love to watch these videos. They always make me want to play the game and take a deeper dive into it then I would originally. I always love the creativity that each video has.

Matpat never ceases to amaze me with his theories. If its a roblox game, horror game or even a picture, lore is there.

As a small thing I noticed myself while playing, theres a painting you can come across while exploring, its of figure, if you interact with it it read as follows; "This painting is called greediness." Therefore implying that Figure has something to do with being greedy.

One thing to note is that the Hotel+ update introduces a secret door which leads you to a place known as "The Rooms." In this place, there are 1000 doors. If you manage to reach the end, you come across a bridge with a door at the end that brings you back to the lobby. This is the exact same bridge you can see near the entrance of the main lobby.

im pretty sure the rooms are a reference to a game to the same name so it has no canonical influence on the game, rooms was basically a predecessor to doors.

Just something to clarify, RediblesQW confirmed that the rooms in Doors, are not the same as the original Rooms game i'm not sure what that implies, but both games are surely not connected

Theory: Rush can’t get you in closets or under beds, even if he’s sees you go in there. I’ve concluded that he is blind and uses his smoke to feel. This would explain why rush has a range, unlike ambush who I’m guessing can see just fine. ALSO, Y’all are prolly saying, what about the hiding behind things and all that. I’m guessing… #1: It wouldn’t be very fun if the only spot to hide was a closet or under a bed #2: Maybe the smoke can’t reach you behind certain objects Second Theory: Guiding Light, Halt, and Curious Light are related. I will say Halt probably died first, and filled with rage that they are about to make it to the end. Taking the power Halt has, he uses it for devilish reasons. First, to attack guiding and curious, then blinded with rage and attacking everything. Guiding Light died next, and decided to assist Curious. Guiding Light thought the rooms were an escape, and accidentally bringing death to Curious. Curious likely died to A-90 (being one of the most confusing) and deciding not to be hostile or help, but believe in the person they are watching. Thanks for reading!

That seems more like an easter egg than a canon hint, considering you can only open it with a skeleton key. The Guiding Light in the game is also different, with yellow light instead of blue. The only thing that seems feasible itself is the fact your items get carried over. The Crucifix also "seems lighter" and doesn't work correctly in Rooms.

I like to think that opening is pretty legitimate.

Me looking back - Matpat was SO right about the skeleton of a dead clergyman, I mean LOOK at Bob

3:14 they also added a secret door in that room, it has a plant that they call a herb and it slowly regenerates your health if you take it so there's also that but you need a special key called the skeleton key to open it, it's got a 60% chance to spawn in Jeff's shop two doors after the library

Theory: Screech is a monster that got his head ripped off by figure and seek covering it with goo. But he doesn’t want to kill anyone else but is getting forced to do it. When he gets trapped by the crucifix. He screams and panics because he doesn’t want to be trapped because he’s innocent.

Kinda strange that if you do book a room, say, maybe door 99, you’re gonna have to walk through everyone else’s rooms first. I guess privacy isn’t exactly a priority for these landlords. Maybe that’s why the hotel got shut down and abandoned.
