Oh it was totally worth waiting! Looking forward to the new episode :) and you do a great Tywin Lannister!

It doesn't take too much knowledge to know Tywin is the poshest human been on GoT, you just have to notice his way of walking, moving, face expressions and everything in general even a deaf person could notice, he inspires nothing but respect. The accent I like the most is Brienne's, she speaks very clearly and it's the way I would like to have :D and the last mention is for Jaime Lannister, because he sounds amazingly convincing for a non-native speaker since he is dutch. Great video btw I hope there are more like this one on their way.

Did you upload it anywhere in form of an essay by any means? I am writing now as well on the same topic and am still searching for fitting articles, essays etc.

Thinking about the alveolar tap made me think of the woman in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (the radio play) who took "grrreat pleasure" announcing the "very splendid and worthwhile bypass". She had a very splendid accent.

Honestly, I don't have time for television these days, I haven't sat down to watch a show for about three years. Your presentation alone has me thinking about finding this series on DVD though. In my opinion, Peter Dinklage is underrated; I've seen him in several movies, and he just makes things better. So I'll be going to Amazon after this, looking for season 1. Your explanation of RP was spot on, but I've come to expect that from you. Keep it up!

Hello, I'm your probably newest fan! Love your videos. Question: What's it called when you add a little "k" sound in some dialects and where does this happen? Example: walking sounds like walkink (with a really soft and subtle K in the end). I have a hunch that this is appearing (appearink) in GoT aswell.

I was totally convinced that Brienne of Tarth's accent was the closest one to a received pronunciation; basically because as a non native English speaker, hers was the most understandable to me...if not the only one. Lots of thanks for this video, I love British accents and GOT!!

There is a fine line between the RP and the posh accent. RP does not necessarily sound like the posh accent, predominantly spoken by the queen, BoJo, or actors like Hugh Grant, which also might reveal the speaker's aristocratic background. Just a bit of reminder to prevent possible confusions... However, RP is the generally accepted one, which doesn't necessarily belong to a specific county in UK. The term "received pronunciation" here implies "the accepted, officialised, or standardised pronunciation".
