by far my favorite part of th final episode was Fedor talking through the combos of that hand. It was incredible to hear. hopefully Kyna looks back on that hand and realizes it was such a huge hand between Fedor and Maria and it was not personal against her.

It was great to see Fedor's personality come out in the show. I had no idea he was such a fun guy. I was loving the high 5's with Josh while they watched Maria. Some of those really connected - something only good friends can do. He's definitely one of my favourite players now.

Thanks DAT podcast for all the time invested in these shows. It’s been a long time since I eagerly awaited a new episode of anything but GG PAD and your podcast were must watch. If I had to wait a few hours to watch the show I stayed off social media so I couldn’t get any spoilers. Can’t wait for season 2. Hoping for a first episode that quickly narrows the players from say 60 to 16 in some cut throat fashion.

For next season, they should blur out hole cards for a few of the hands for the back rooms. Then reveal after hand is over, even if it doesn’t get to showdown

The best ideas often seem like common sense in retrospect. Game of Gold is no exception. Cheers to Spunky Hwang for seeing this through. Can't wait for more seasons.

One thing great reality tv shows have is a great villain. Someone who some of the viewers will root against and who will ruffle some feathers. The obvious choice is Phil Hellmuth, i also think Doug Polk, Tony G, Luke Schwartz or Will Kassouf would be great game of gold villains. That would be my number 1 suggestion for season 2

Great show exceeded my expectations by far! For season 2 I'd like a couple of amateurs added to the mix that we could root on. With this structure I think they could definitely win no matter what pros end up there. Going in I never really liked Charlie based on some of his wild posts but I really warmed up to him and enjoyed watching him play. Nikita was awesome to watch (especially crushing Williams) Robin brought great team energy, Jungle was hilarious, Kyna was cool, Fedor surprised me he was much more outgoing and team oriented than I'd have guessed, sadly we didn't see enough of Dnegs and his team, Andy was a joy always worried 😂, Josh played very well and very positive, Williams a dick, (not everyone can be nice) Olga so wild and fun, and Maria wowwweee. Great job editors and to the cast and crew who put it together!! I volunteer as amateur for season 2!

For season 2 - The winner of the prior season can bring any 3 people they choose to be their initial round 1 team. Having Maria choose would be a really cool twist. For the other 12 just focus on people who will be entertaining, good for the show and would want to be there. If you do expand from 16 to 24 it would go over well. Awesome job with season 1

AMAZING show, very well done! I think it could be very cool to throw in an amateur or 2 in a future season. Mix it up and hey... maybe that could spice things up even more and bring in even more crowds.

I have read a lot of people saying maria got really lucky, and yes in some spots she got that draw complete. But i think she is being done very dirty, she played very very well, the other players all agree, there is no luck in that many heads ups and games

1:15:00 Wait are we going to skip this K high... bluff? Value bet?? The amazing thing about this hand is the only thing Maria can fold that Jungle doesn't already beat is a 9... which she has and he gets her to fold! Or maybe bluffing her off half the pot with her own K-high? It worked, but if it hadn't I think Dat Poker Team would really be scratching their heads at this raise.

  • @blankoblanco

It was absolutely a bluff, not getting value from worse without an insane dynamic that simply didn't exist here. But yeah, I agree with you that it was a fascinating play, and I think they should've talked about it more. I thought he was going to make the call with K kicker and then he practically minraises and it kinda blew my mind. He had to put her on exactly a 9, and, let's face it, probably noticed Maria has a propensity for folding mediocre hands on the river facing a raise. It was still pretty crazy to me though, because if I was in his situation I wouldn't have considered it obvious that she had a 9 and nothing else. *Edit: And yeah, maybe the possibility of turning a chop into a win against another K kicker was a factor too. Not sure how much it matters, but it's more than nothing.

How likely is AQ really??? Considering 3 queens are accounted for? I think this alone should lead you more to a fold in this spot considering the pref op action

  • @blankoblanco

    @blankoblanco

Well, by Fedor's own admission he knew all the outcomes where he won were unlikely, just a pretty rough spot in a winner-take-all when the winner of the pot likely wins the whole thing and he's getting insane pot odds. I don't think he would disagree with you, since he said he should have folded, but it's such a painful fold to make in reality for all of the aforementioned reasons. Hard to blame him too much.

I agree it’s hard to fold for such a small bet and it’s easy to break down the hand with plenty of time on your hands. I would say after going over this hand a few times I think Maria has AA and KK here a decent percentage too, very hard to ever doubt a true great of the game👍

Good finale. Didn't like the Indian Poker segment but the rest of the episodes were good. I have to disagree with the DAT group on Kyna's A 4 all in decision because, in my opinion, she doesn't go all in if Jungle and Fedor don't tilt her by saying Maria bluffed her. I think if you ask her, she will agree she was tilted. She has to play her game and that table talk tilted her to make that decision. Maria ran hot but. critically, Fedor let her get there. And she needed that chip lead because, in my opinion, Jungle was outplaying her heads-up. Very surprised she folded the two pair with nines on a small reraise. Congrats to the Game of Gold team.

New people I'd like to see: Hellmuth, Ivey, Johnny Chan, Jennifer Harman, Bencb789, Ali Nejad, Norman Chad, Tony G, Jaime Staples, Lex Veldhuis, Sammy Farha, Mike Matusow. I'd like Kyna and Nikita to come back next season, along with Daniel's team that was first eliminated. There were lots of great people this season, but it's good if there are replaced with other well-known people. Kyna and Nikita were two more unknown people that really shined with their personality.

I also agreed Jungle played OBVIOUSLY better heads-up, but in tournaments there must be something to not fighting for every chip. Hellmuth seems proof of that, Maria here, letting it come down to that one big spot. But you need to be lucky and hold on long enough to GET that big spot

Maria Ho was running hot. I watched carefully to see who won hands by getting lucky and who won hands by skillful play. It turns out that luck is the key factor when skill levels are relatively close. The river was Maria's best friend.
