I had this Game Boy lying around with serious corrosion on the battery terminals. Let's see how bad it is, and if we can clean it back up.
Жүктеу.....

I just found a Gameboy in the shared electronic garbage bin, with corroded battery connectors just like that! Great video.

tip: If you have no vinegar, you can use coke, it contains phosphoric acid, which is used in comercial rust removers, just not as strong...

True. Any mild acid like vinegar, lemon juice, or coke would work. Great tip!

What about baking soda

@@juampecjdm3234 Baking soda is not acidic but basic, so not much metal reaction, in cleaning it is usually used as a mild abrasive, which may help as well...

Subscribed and liked because I’m having the same issue. My terminals are extremely corroded, seeking white vinegar now! Thanks!

Hello , Thank you very much for your video , I really like how you details what you are doing . I have one question , on other videos I have seen that people , after using the white vinaigre, put the contact inside a Niquel solutions with an Anode . I have noticed that you are not doing that on your video . Could you tell me why ? Thanks a lot in advance I am interested to do this repair on my gameboy but I do not have the anode and niquel solutions that's why I am asking.

I have a similar black spot on the back of the board from what I’m assuming is battery corrosion, anything to be done about it? I currently have some deoxit on the problem area overnight to see if it will lift any of it off

What should I clean if it can turn on but turns off like midway through me playing like I have to restart every time.

You have to cancel the vinegar reaction with backing soda, otherwise the contacts will be eaten away.

I am sure this works for my old Game Gear. I am gifting it to my son for his 8th birthday. Old tech unfortunately included old batteries too. I wish I had taken them out. Oh well. It will be good to have him game without the internet and extra apps. I don’t want him dealing with all that yet.

Was it just using the cloth enough to remove the vinegar, shouldn't have you used water or baking soda? Other than that awesome job!

You must use baking soda, water might not be enough the kill the vinegar reaction

I used battery spray cleaner for cars. 2 out of three were cleaned 🧼 I do have to replace it But I don’t want to replace it. I’ll give vinegar a try.
