As the wife on a previous gambling addict, I’ve seen the destruction of this disease. It covers all ethnicities, genders, wealth classes, it doesn’t discriminate. It will destroy everything. I’m glad to see people talking about it as it affects more people than you know! Thanks for this interview, Ian!!

Gambling addiction is no joking matter what-so-ever. Some people are different than the next. I have seen an uncle of mine lose their house over this. My aunt, uncle and my 4 cousins had to move in with us for 2 years until he got back on his feet. That was his rock-bottom and he’s a huge inspiration of mine for how he has overcome that obstacle. Rob, you are just as big of an inspiration as he was, glad to see you doing bigger and better things!

The irony that every ad in this video was promoting online casinos 😂
What he said about not saying the amounts because it will cause other people to try to justify their losing, that was probably one of the most insightful things I’ve heard in awhile. Wow! What a different way to look at it.

Really interesting topic, especially considering how young this guy is to be so aware that when he hit rock bottom, you really have to stop digging, and get help. I really wonder if some people are predisposed to addiction, whether it be alcohol, gambling, drugs etc, and how to counter that before lives are ruined.
Another awesome show , I wouldn't expect anything else.
This guy is great!!! So insightful
Sweet interview, Ian. Keep it up
29:04 I’ve never heard it put that way but it makes a ton of sense if you think about it most people who are gambling addicts aren’t stupid if anything they’re more often then not smarter than the average human but when he said that they view it as a challenge to the ego I think that’s super accurate based on what I’ve seen via family members who’ve been addicted.

Couldn't agree more! I am 50 and have been gambling steadily (sports, horses, casinos, etc.) since 17 and that is why I beat myself up at times. "How can u be this bright but be so fn dumb at the same time"? lol. I am a 'realist' when it comes to gambling. I have no issue saying when I lose and how much (depending who it is lol). If I was given 3% of total losses in those 33 yrs I could retire from my job that pays very well.

This one is really important and needs more views. Gambling is the invisible addiction - there’s no physical consequences but it’s so mentally messed up. And the reasons why folks start gambling is very interesting and important as well. I am a gambling addict. I am only 27 years old - him and I have a lot in common. I destroyed my credit score for long time during my gambling addiction. Wasn’t worth it.

To answer Ian's Q: "how does someone know how much credit to give you"? I believe Rob said something about 2k/wk but didn't elaborate much. As someone who has been a bookie and still "helps" online agents, it's always a guess for how much to give for max per bet and credit line. It depends how much u know about the person AND who is was referred by. No one shows paystubs lol so it's all in how seasoned the agent is in knowing what to ask the player to determine that. AND, watching every play entered for weeks, along w/ontme pmnts etc. The big PROBLEM is almost everyone has more than 1 online acct so if given 5k/wk from one, he likely has at least 3-10x that much between all of the accts.

The thing I hate about gambling is you never buy tangeble goods... I would "spend" £5000 in a single night and have NOTHING to show for it... At least with a drug addiction you spend 5k and have 5k worth of drugs on you... I would beat myself up and go online and look at what I could have bought with the money I'd lost that night
Although im not a big fan of Ian, this was a great interview! It was awesome to hear something different! The guest was great! And Ian, i really enjoyed this one, good job man!

I was never an addicted to gambling. I used to go to Atlantic City once a month and only bring a couple hundred dollars. What I could afford to lose. Sometimes $200 sometime $400 never more. But when he said when it affects your additude with losing that made me think of the night I stopped. I lost some money on the table and figured I would play the slots. I lost there too. As my wife turned a corner I punched a slot machine. She told me to go up to the room and from then on I figured I dont enjoy it anymore. I have tried it here and there. I would rather have a nice dinner then throw the money on a bet.
Nice.
Can you share your strategy for baccarat Ian?
Me at the Duel Arena in Runescape 💀🤣
I have 4 DUIs. Been in police chase. They said I have an alcohol problem. Love drugs, herion, crack, meth. Gambling was my home away from home. I've been sober for over 12 years. My only regret is the Gambling. I don't give a fuck about the drugs, glad that chapter is over, but I get disgusted when I think about the money i dumped at those places.
Unf., some of his info is incorrect. BUT, I give him credit bc he's trying to help others so I'm not criticizing, just trying to help. Re: credit cards...he said "you can buy gift cards (for casino) at casino gas station using your cc and use to gamble". No casino sells gift cards that can be used for gambling. The gc can only be used in stores, bars, restaurants etc. Also, u can't keep charging $500 to bank acct if that's ur bal (even if it's a weekend). Banks hold debit card charges/authorizations/purchases. Again, just trying to help. Been gambling steadily for 35 yrs (sports gambling daily for yrs).

I watch gambling channels to help myself not go gamble my own money. Most of what I watch though does show them loosing thousands of dollars with very rare wins. Also, most of their income comes from the views and subscribers over wins. I'm avid on only gamble what you could just give to someone and be okay. You are most likely going to give it to the casino, so why not give it to a friend or homeless person who could use and appreciate it so much more. There are a few people who post videos of them loosing millions of dollars. For all those out there, don't let anything take control of you and your values. Addiction comes in so many forms. If you need help, reach out to a loved one.
🤣🤣🤣 You do have to admit tho, live sports betting can be ridiculously thrilling but also heartbreaking! Betting on MMA fights seem to be the most entertaining bang for your buck. Only for entertainment tho, not for profit. Never gamble more than you can afford to lose. Be smart. Control your mind.
everything is facts 💯 what they saying I been there and done that.
There are so many gambling addicts, probably more then thos effected by drugs. The difference is it is not illegal to use a bookie but illegal to buy most drugs.
If I lose I feel nothing if I win I feel nothing 😂

As someone who also cares about gambling addicts I don’t think it’s responsible to share the work arounds that enable credit gambling to the general public. Please consider if sharing this information that information with gamblers is necessary and if it’s more likely reduce harm or enable it.

Common misconception about problem gamblers. It’s a dopamine problem in the brain, not a matter of self control or lack of intelligence or discipline. if i have a 3 leg parlay thats $100 to win $500 down to the last leg, and say the opposite of my last leg pays 3-1. if i place $100 on the opposite, either my initial bet wins and i win $500, or the opposite will win and i will win $300. both of those numbers are better than the $200 i risked and it is a guarantee that one of the teams will win

@@tanner9956i think he meant by if its down to the last leg, the first 2 games had already won... If the opposite on the last game pays 3 to 1.. then he has an active bet on it of 375 to pay 500 (assuming the first 2 wins paid approximatley 1.875 to 1 each. Or the parlay for the first 2 wouldve equaled 375 with a 100 bet in other words) At that point maybe he has second thoughts about letting his bet ride, which youd have to do if you arent hedging and in the 3 game parlay obviously. So if the favorite team for the 3rd game only pays 1 to 3, his 375 live bet is essentially getting locked up by hedging for another 100. Either he will make 300 by having the triple lay win... Or he will win 100 with the hedge... The 300 is mor likely so on average he may be closer to winning 250 lets say... which is close to the 275 he wouldve netted from the first 2 game parlay. The vig or the house edge may not actually be 25 dollars here for hedging (or betting on another outcome) but im just using it as an example
