Łukasz Kotkowski A high end Xperia, I was disappointed about the support, the fluidity, and about everything except the design. Then I boughta Lumia920 and it blew my mind, super smooth, great camera, very solid, great support, and WP in general is really a beautiful and smooth experience. In terms of apps, it now has a lot more than in the beginning of WP, and has about everything you want.. Sometimes it's not an official app, but it's most of the time well made :)

That's the essence of WP :) Unfortunalety, many key developers (to me that is) are openly ignoring the platform, which is shameful

Łukasz Kotkowski It's definitely a shame developers aren't trying hard on WP platform. However, I can say that MS has messed up the development community making it harder to get developers. They kinda shot themselves in the foot. WP is getting apps though, just too slow for the marketplace to notice.

After having and using both, Still have to go with the Lumia Icon, It is almost as good and in some ways better than my #1 phone of all time the 1520. Looking forward to AT&T finally unlocking those damn phones so I can use it on TMobile and Ill keep the ICON for verizon. The difference here is simple, Build quality and experience vs gimmicks. While the S5 is a powerhouse and I LOVE THE CAMERA.... Sadly the 1 second lags between magazine and tasks ads up and drove me F***ing crazy. I ended up going with the HTC One M8 as my Android phone and also use the Lumia Icon being I carry two phones. Great comparison and while the S5 camera looks close....... Its not really there yet.

If I was looking for a new smartphone right now, I would surely buy the Nokia. The S5's specs are impressive as always, but the way all Galaxy S's utilised them in their rather poor design and their circus-like Android implementations were always a big turn-off for me. On the other hand, I always wanted to have a Windows phone (apart from one I had back in 2004!), and I was always a big fan of the Nokia Lumia camera philosophy and hardware.

Marino Cabrera Indeed, it was probably Windows Mobile... a nice Motorola. Миша Куд Beautiful phone and very elegant, although the specs are a bit overkill (for example the pixel density of the screen is unnecessarily high, and that has an impact on the battery too). Other than that, it's a matter of personal preference whether you like Android or Windows more. Nowadays, Windows Phone has come a long way and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. It has a different, much more classy interface than Android, and the apps should be something like 300,000 already...

If someone already has had an Android phone in the past, the differences against Windows become even more pronounced. I think it's an easier decision to choose Windows once you've had a good taste of Android for some months.

Previously I were dying to have the notification center in WP but after I got it in 8.1, I only realized that what's the live tiles exactly meant for me. The notification is useful in 8.1 of course. I had Anroid and WP but obviously WP is my daily drive right now. Hope both of the OS is getting stronger and it is advantage for consumers.

Cryengine doesn't lose every category I guess your forgetting design also screen size isn't a category idiot it matters of the quality of the screen no the size. Wow .1in. Bigger so much of a difference. I'd rather have a realistic looking screen then the cartoonist looking screen and UI on the GS5 and that's another thing the GS5 loses to the One on Software. The One has much better software that has nicely baked in features for Sense 6 while the GS5 software is congested, still ugly, and most of the stuff are still have baked *cough * *cough* My Magazine. And On-screen software keys can go away unlike the extremely bright hardware keys on the GS5 wasting unneeded battery. I know you didn't just say the fingerprint scanner is a great feature.lol Dont make me laugh anymore. That have baked poorly thought out fingerprint sensor can't even be used in one hand easily without even dropping the damn phone.lol Pretty much your entire argument is invalid sir. And btw some news sources say that One has a much better battery life than the S5 due to standby time. And considering the S5 only has slightly bigger screen than the One with a much bigger battery *by 300mAh* you would think that the differentiation on those 2's batteries would be much different but its not because Samsung put piss poor power management in that phone with the only exception being extreme power saving mode.

Robert Oortwijn The guy who was responsible for Nokia software was a idiot. I had a n86, the camera is amazing, but the software is so terrible. If they would have gone with andoid, they would be like the number 1 phone company. Me and many other people that I know would have gotten a Nokia, if it had Android. I grew up with nokia and this makes me sad.

Lars Reviews if they would have gone with android, they had to compete with Samsung, HTC, LG, Sony and Motorola. Google didn't care about Nokia either. Nokia was in financial trouble when Microsoft came to them knocking. Microsoft was the only company willing to bale them out. Microsoft took care of everything for Nokia. They did the advertisement. They took care of the patents and other things. But things didn't work out quiet well for Nokia so know it is being sold to Microsoft, but they wouldn't even last if they had gone with Android, which means the company that is being sold for 7.2 bil would be sold for much much less than that.

Nokia didn't opt for the Android Route like the other companies did well it was a BOLD Decision. If Nokia would had opted for Android as its Primary Os it would be the *King of SMARTPHONES*. A Lumia 920 running android would had brought Pureview technology & many other software based suppport & apps at risk as Android is an open project and any manufacturer's app can be sideloaded or installed on other OEM's phone running the same Os. Best example : Google it "Lg g2 & many other android phones running NOKIA MIX RADIO which was only intended for NOKIA X"( Forked version of android). I wish NOKIA will be the KING as it was before ANDROID. See ya NOKIA again in 2024(NOKIA & Microsoft is for 10 years) :)

Samsung has been my go to phone for a couple of years now, s2 , s3, Note 3 on various carrier's. But I've been in need of a change from the android ecosystem. I in my own opinion think windows phones will be a real contender in the future. Big time android fan, and then I tried a lumia 928. I bought it used for like $200 on ebay. The camera during night time was easily the best and trumped any non lumia phone. Plus its standby battery and system efficiency blew Android out of the water. But the lack of google apps (youtube, google maps, google drive, google music,) plus the inability for MS to get their strategy together and actually implement cross platform meant the Windows Phone was lacking serious app support. I was often left embarrassed because I couldnt use popular apps that iphone/android users could. So I had to sell and come back to android. Good things about android is the different manufacturers. Like this Galaxy offers water proof features and IR blaster and heart rate monitor and fingerprint scan. While i feel Lumia line barely has any differences between models. Like I dont see why anyone would want a 930 over a 928 that is half the price. In fact the 928 had better xenon flash. Both versions run WP8 the same. Glad to see HTC is jumping in the WP game again. Maybe they can add some spice to windows phones

Good comparison as I prefer Nokia because I'm a Nokia fan and also like to support an underdog OS. I don't like Samsung phone because of their skin and quality of the build quality. I cannot and don't want to rant about how bad Samsung's build quality is but I understand why they do it. By making it so cheap Samsung can produce large number of phones at a short time frame., but IMO quality matters. With Windows phone 8.1 Microsoft has grown up and like to see where they go from here. So I'm supporting Nokia :-)

Dante Bradley LOL So that's what been stopping you from getting a WP phone, emulators??? Of course, Windows Phone has MANY emulators, a pretty solid variety.

Muyanzi Reid there are few apps I use on my Note 3 that aren't on WP and I'm tied into the Google ecosystem. But I was saying that games wouldn't be a problem for me if and when I did decide to switch. Unless Wp doesn't have emulators. I wouldn't carry a Wp as my main and only phone but I'd definitely carry one, especially with 8.1. So nothings stopping me technically, just money for a Wp flagship. Lol

LUMIA icon rocks. We have seen what a dual core windows phone with 1 GB RAM can do. Just imagine the amount of power we get with 2 GB RAM and quad core processor on Win phone!! Plus the clear black technology makes the screen looks more vibrant. Play a video on it and you will know. Play GTA on both the devices and you will know. Galaxy is a fancy device with bits and pieces copied from many other smartphones like Lenovo's water proof mobiles, iPhone's fingerprint sensor, optical stabilization from Nokia etc. Where as Lumia icon is for those who wants to get their work done in smarter way through outlook express, office, one note, HERE maps, HERE drive, Smart cam and many more useful software.

This is the first time that I see a fair and neutral review for 2 GREAT products; normally when I search/see comparison videos, they either don't show all of the main features that the product has to offer or it is done by a fan boy. I have been a Nokia user for quite a while, then I changed to Apple and came back to Nokia; the phone/platform that I have suits my needs and I think that's what you need to take in consideration when you plan to buy any piece of technology, oh and another thing, it's JUST a phone, it's unfair to judge a human being just because he prefers a brand over the other, it's like judging someone for liking better Vanilla Ice Cream over Chocolate...Job very well done! You have a new subscriber!

I have watched your Windows Phone 8.1 Review tons of times, and it's great. Microsoft has put enough into the new Windows Phone update that I want to give it a try. Thank you for your help on my decision.

I sincerely hope that any newer videos include this often unspoken feature that windows phones have. It is NOT a default feature however. By going into settings, selecting "Touch" and and pressing 'on' for 'wake up' you will be able to wake up the phone by simply double tapping the screen. This is a handy feature in some LG smartphones, but it is often overlooked for windows phones. Take a look sometime and please include it in any comparison videos in the future.

I purchased the Icon when it first came out and this is one solid device. Even though I was with Android since the beginning, having a Windows phone is a refreshing change. The OS is really smooth and elegant and it just plain works with hardly any issues. Dare I say this but it seems like MS borrowed a bit of the buttoned-down efficiency of Apple with a smidgen of Android customization. It really works well.

I've been heavily leaning towards the Galaxy Note 4 sometime in a couple of months, but that doesn't mean I don't like a Windows phone. I would love to try it out, but to own one for a long period of time, I will just have to go with the Note 4. Only because you should be able to switch out the battery, and on top of that, I can still get the Windows experience on my Galaxy note with a Windows Phone 8 launcher. Currently I have the Note 2, and it is absolutely the best phone I've bought in years. So when the Note 4 comes out, it should be one gigantic upgrade. Possibly a 5.9" Amoled display, water resistant, and microsd card expansion.

The app is iReal Pro. If this app comes to WP I'm switching in a heartbeat. Anyone know if it's possible to emulate the app on WP?
