I played with the Note 5, S6+, and the G4 in a T-Mobile store the other day. For some reason, the G4 just doesn't seem to have "it" to me. If I HAD to choose one out of the two, I'd still pick the Note 5 even without the expandability.

I went from an LG G3 to a Note5, but will be returning the Note tomorrow to get a G4. I miss the IR Blaster and the camera just takes phenomenal shots. The amoled display on the Note5 looks amazing, but I noticed some minor uneven white balance which I find too distracting. I will miss the crazy fast fingerprint sensor on the Note 5 though.

this is kinda unrelated, but can someone tell me why removable batteries in phones are pretty small and thin (size wise), but a battery case has to be so heavy and massive (even if its the same capacity)? i know it needs room on the bottom of the case for the ports, but i dont really understand how the thin battery and its technology have to be put in such a bulky package. thanks for any answers

I'm a long time Galaxy user. I've had the S1, S3, Note 3, Note 4.... Then I saw what Sammy was doing to the note 5 with the glass back and no SD slot so I abandoned ship and went for the G4. After two months of dealing with its lackluster screen resolution and brightness and pathetic 120+ minute "quick charge" I returned it and I'm posting from the Note 5... This phone is absolutely fantastic. There is no competition between AMOLED and IPS LCD. The LCD runs hot and drains your battery and it doesn't preforme as well as the AMOLED.

Ok, so from an enthusiast's and a power user's point of view there is nothing better than the Note 5. Its worth the extra 3 benjamins. BUTT, someone please tell me whether that enclosed battery on the Note 5 will still hold charge well beyond 2 years or will its capacity to hold charge decrease noticeably after say a year?

you forgot to speak about some little thing that made me love last year's G3 and really makes me wonder if the note can do any similar one of them is the quick call answering thing ( all I have to do is to pot in on my ear or flip it on the table and it will do everything else if you know what I mean ) also the LG keyboard is still funn to use so the G4 is'nt the less useful phone to me .. I think that both of the phones are just as helpful and easy to use .. it's just that each one shins in different areas

alot of people are caught up about not having a removable battery and expandable storage. when I bought my note 3 those things weren't the reason I bought the note. I bought it because it was different and the note series has maintained its identity with the s-pen and it's features. so although I miss the expandable storage I still love the note 5

***** that's extremely unfortunate, but not unexpected. What's the point in putting 4 GB of RAM in a phone and then not allowing it to use it? In the GS6, it was the memory values they had set in the build.prop file. I was hoping maybe they would come to their senses by the time the Note was released, but apparently not. I suspect they're doing it for battery life reasons: Keep apps from running the background so the smaller battery doesn't matter as much.

Just got a Note 4 for $500. 5.1.1 update just arrived and finally got it's touchwiz software to match the Note 5/S6 in speed. The QHD Super Amoled display is still gorgeous to look at, Camera performance is pretty much on par with the Note 5 (even PocketNow recognizes this), and I get to keep the removable back and battery, which reminds me I need to order the anker 6400mah battery replacement for my Note 4. IMO, the Note 4 is by far the best all round smartphone right now.

The RAM optimization on the G4, although it's only 3GB, it does swipe the 4GB of the note 5! I've moving with the note series from 2 till 4, but I'm done with it! Samsung phones states lagging a while later... I'm disappointed because of those RAM issues, looks like they ain't gonna get fixed ever! Can't wait for the next G4 pro, Huawei Nexus and the HTC O2

This comparison is actually very close and like Michael said, it comes down to personal preference. For me, having the beefier Exynos processor and S-pen is a really nice addition, but then again so is the expandability of the G4 - when my battery goes bad over time i can just swap it (because i hold on to my phones for a long time). The camera is my priority and since they're so evenly matched the solution is simple. Wait and see what microsoft brings to the table in a few months.

  • @elsamuraiguapo

Putting the lack of expandability aside, I'm really not a fan of the iPhone type unibody glass/metal design of the S6 and the Note 5 (which is just a blown up S6). Not only are they fingerprint magnets and very fragile, but they are also very easy to have slip out of your hand. The G4 with its leather back options is definitely the more attractive device. I have the yellow leather back on mine and I can assure you it catches people's attention far more than any other phone. It looks like a yellow motorcycle jacket; it's pretty damn sick.

New LG G4 comes in box with 2 batteries, 32gb microSD card,2 battery covers and special LG box charger for second battery. If you don't get these inside the box then it was taken out by seller. Make sure all of the above included.

My previous phone was a Galaxy Note 2. It stopped working and when I got a new phone I decided to get the LG G4. It's a fantastic phone. The thing is, I don't really care for the extra Note features. When I had the Note 2, the s-pen and the multi-window seemed exciting at first, but over time I just stopped using them, I didn't need them. I don't use the multi-window and the native note app on the G4 either. The G4 is a good phone with a big gorgeous screen, it's cheaper than the S6 and Note 5, and it still has a removable battery and a place for a micro sd card, which are actually important to me.

I have always loved the Note series. one of the features that is turning me away is that they removed the IR blaster. I have kids and lose the remotes often. So I depend on this.... So I am torn between S6 Edge and LG G4.

Good comparation but you could have included some night shots in manual mode. That is where the G4 camera wins by a wide margin. I have one. I know hehe.

I could live without the battery replacement but no memory expansion and worse yet, no IR blaster is a deal breaker for me. I use my phone on a regular as my remote at home. but the note 5 sure is purdy when it's not covered in fingerprints. I'll stick with my G4 :D

The spare battery is so 2000, we're already 2015 many smartphone users are using battery bank. But, LG G4 is almost at par with Note 5 or S6 egde +. Still, i'd go for Sammy even though im not a fan of both smartphones.

The only problems I can think of in regards to LG, is that the vertical placement of the buttons on the back rather than the sides, prevents the battery from being bigger than it has potential to be. If they did away with that and put them on the sides like every other phone maker, they'd have a lot of room for extra juice. Not only that, but placing the speakers on the front would not only serve to enhance battery size as well, but would give a clear edge to speaker quality over the Note. Everything else is damn near perfect. And that authentic leather back? Keep that up LG. I want to see that become a standard on your devices. I'll never understand how glass and aluminium are considered "premium", but authentic vegetable tanned leather isn't? Pulling out a phone from your pocket adorned in leather is about as fashionable as you can get. That's designer quality ingenuity. AND it serves a practical purpose. Keep that up and I'll have no problems moving over to you guys next year.

***** I wish I could do that as it really is the best phone out there just lacks the versatility that some people like myself need. I kill two 3100mah batteries with my note2 and it was a 720p screen... Yea I know I'm a rare bread.

G4 with Nova launcher (paid version). I know myself well enough to know that I won't exploit the S-pen to its full potential. I also like the 20mp camera, even though Samsung has been the benchmark for camera quality. Difficult choice, but I like LG's hardware , expandable storage, interchangeable battery and the back covers does it for me.
