Ditto on watching John, Andrew and Luke. I’m not a gaffer, either, LOL. However, I cannot get enough of these three myself, and use their advice before I purchase or rent the fixtures they put through their paces.

Godox has surprised me, was just working with their 50in 600 bi flex panel and it’s wild how far lighting has come. It’s like a baby s360, beautiful light.

Good video and standing by for your review. Yes, no one covers the dmx/crmx fuctions like Andrew Lock. Thats just the way he works. I own many Aputure, Godox, Nanlux etc fixtures as well. I stop using my HMI's because the ease of use and mainly the form factor of the LED mono/bi-color light fixtures. However the new fixtures that are now coming out on the market, are getting bigger, heavier and have more parts than my HMI's. Some of these new LED fixtures may only operate on 220v, which to me kindda puts me back to square one having to lug around all these parts just like the HMI's. Some of these new LED fixtures looks like they will need a distro package and in some cases a tow generator. Which means more space and crew needed. Just my two cents.

in fairness they have more parts because they offer greater control/options. If you take this nanlux w/ fresnel that would be the close comparison to say M18/M40 with similar head, ballast, header, AC cable. However the nanlux also offers reflector dishes in addition to the fresnel and perhaps down the road projection, not to mention ease of attaching Octa or parabolic soft boxes or even lanterns. I think these new line of larger COB will max out our domestic US 20 amp circuits like an M18 did and we should be able to run a 2400B at almost 95% +/- a bit relative to actual voltage. Just the fact these are dimmable, DMX-able and bicolor w/ g/m is such an enormous advancement in my book that it renders any HMI less then (hopefully) a 4k, dead in the water. Whatever comes next however, is def going to need 220/240v for sure....

I have the Nanlite 720B and was thinking of returning it for the 500B just because of the +- green.

yeah i hear you, so essential. They updated the 300 and 500 with g/m, thinking the 720 can't be far behind....

@@GaffersSalon I'm wondering if the 500B is bright enough for the occasional window background shot (which is why I purchased the 720B). Ugh! Decisions!

Thank you for all these great videos! I learn so much from them. Quick question- will I be able to operate this light from a regular light socket? Or will I have to pull out my old genny? Thanks again!

Yes, in the US with 120v if you have a dedicated 20amp circuit - meaning nothing else being powered off that circuit - you should be able to operate around 90-95% output off a standard Edison outlet. On a 15 amp you will of course be less, I don’t know exact percentage yet but somewhere I’d imagine around 75% of full output.

@@GaffersSalon Great! I was hoping that was the case. My entire lighting setup surrounds Aputure and Creamsource, but Nanlite/Nanlux has been cranking out some amazing things lately. They got me thinking. Also, I'm hoping Godox reaches out to you for a review of their reflective panels. I'm curious to hear your thoughts on them versus the original LightBridges. Again, thank you so much!

Hey John, who did you get this light through? Wondering who best to order this light from

This was supplied direct from Nanlux for testing and review… ditto with Luke and others. I’d imagine all the usual places, for purchase I typically go to Maccam in LA but sure B&H, adorama etc etc
