Wow! Regardless of what happens down the season, it's incredible that Gabby has competed again after 7+ years! Especially knowing that she's going to be compared to her Olympic best. I can't imagine the immense pressure, nerves and more that she must have been feeling. The fact she was able to get through today was amazing! I hope she sticks with it past this year if she's enjoying it! And yes, while a few weeks until next competition isn't much time, a few weeks can certainly help as far as getting used to using competitive landing surfaces. Hopefully today helped her mentally too, knowing she has the 1st competition back out of the way.

She had the 2nd highest vault score of the meet only behind Jade and qualified for 3 events at Championships with her scores. Comparing her to the girls at WinterCup she’s looking good- but definitely needs way more work! Suni is also doing a dbl pike and still hasn’t attempted it yet in competition so I’m glad Gabby did and pulled it off!

@@antzvoli4577 her vault was amazing. I would not be surprised if she does a cheng or amanar at nationals. It would be amazing and a testament to her athleticism to see her do one of the hardest vaults after an 8 year hiatus. Her beam looked good and as I have been saying a while now, she needs only to put up great scores on bars and beam, have a decent DTY and produce mid 13 score on floor, all of which she is very capable of, and she is set. Suni at her best is only second to Simone. Whether she can get back to that level is what we will have to wait to see. Same with Gabby.

As she’s proven in the past she can hit when it really matters .. she just needs to channel that in and add more repetition. If anything Gabby can be a top contender in the AA .. Why do you only blame the coaches? She’s 28, not a child, and this is 2024 when everyone has a cellphone with camera to record herself, not the ‘80s when nobody had a video camera. Not to mention that she can obviously also read the damn point of points. Is the coach to be blamed? Yes, as much as she is.

Unfortunately, being a former Olympic AA champion doesn't guarantee one a spot on the team competing in Paris. Even Simone has to show she's ready. Despite her amazing comeback, there are other more consistent athletes that can jump into the lineup last minute and be counted on to score higher than Douglas, simply by virtue of their higher start value, performed with less deductions.
